Are you the type of person that likes to give sweet older pups a chance they might otherwise not get? Sweetie loves attention and will happily help you out by guarding the door of the bathroom from the inside. However, she can also be quite the independent little lady and doesn’t need to be a velcro dog… unless you want her to be! Sweetie can be a little bossy with her dog friends (part of why we think she’s mixed with chihuahua!) but generally gets along well with everyone. Sweetie is a beauty but would benefit from a little tough love when it comes to feeding and giving out treats and a little more activity in her day. A physically fenced yard is required. I have not been around cats or kids to know how I would do around them yet. I am house trained and am working on crate training, and because my crate still makes a little nervous, I would prefer to be confined to a small, safe space like a laundry room or kitchen while you’re gone for the workday. I am learning to walk on my leash too. I am still a little nervous when there are too many sounds, but when I do an early morning walk and it's quiet my foster mom says I do really well. I seem to learn best when I am around other dogs (I really like to play with my fur siblings), so I would thrive really well in a home with another dog. One of my favorite things to do is play and get my young dog energy out. I love cheese and bones and I really enjoy cuddling. I also like to lounge around, go to the park and take my calm walks. I cannot wait to find my very own active family who will give me all the love and attention I deserve and who will be patient with me as I learn what being a dog means. We rescued Pip from a shelter in 2016. We believe he was about 1 at the time. Brought him home and got him a friend (Brown dog in picture) as my wife and I were working full time. We now have kids and just can’t provide him the time or life he wants. He loves to cuddle and play. Very sweet and loving. Pip can be territorial so we dont let our kids play around him. They are around him and he is no problem but we worry about them trying to take a toy from him. He understands going potty outside and does but sometimes decides to go inside.

Turkleton (Turk) is an opinionated, energetic, and lovable dog that has been a part of our family for the past 8 years. He loves a snuggle, scratches behind the ears, and quality time with his humans. Unfortunately, Turk has not reacted well to having a new baby in our home. We have tried to acclimate him and make it work, but we feel finding him a new home is the best thing to give him the life he deserves. He gets a little overexcited at times, such as when people come and go, and needs a human with a willingness to understand and accommodate his chihuahua quirks. While he may not be a fit for everyone, he is loyal and will give you lots of love and laughs. Would be great for a single person, young couple, or anyone willing to give him the patience and attention he needs. We love him and want to see him go to a good home.
