Story
Meet Sport, the handsome and energetic cattle dog who's always ready for an adventure and eager to be by your side as much as possible. Sport is approximately five years old and weighs 40lbs. A recent DNA test has discovered him to be 100% Australian Cattle Dog! Sport loves playing ball and even knows how to toss it back to you. He thrives with a predictable daily routine and, when he's not engaged in activities, enjoys lounging on his comfy bed. Sport has been making great progress on his reactivity to dogs and men. He's shown that he can quickly warm up to people and is improving with other dogs. He's even been able to visit pet stores and shop with his foster. Sport would do best in a home that enjoys activities like horseback riding, kayaking, backpacking, day hikes, and daily jogs. He's the perfect workout partner and adventure companion. Sport loves cuddles and attention once he’s mentally and physically satisfied. If not challenged, he’ll find ways to entertain himself, like tossing his ball at you! Playing fetch is Sport's absolute favorite. Sport may enjoy a home with a small dog companion, though it may take time for them to build a strong relationship. He needs a family committed to continuing his training, and his foster and a training consultant will provide guidance on what he has learned. Sport's ideal adopter will have a fenced yard, plenty of tennis balls, and no children under 16, as he can be too energetic for smaller children. He’s not suited for a home with cats, as he finds them too interesting and fun to chase. Sport is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his core vaccines. He is being fostered in Tacoma, WA. If you're ready for an adventurous and loyal companion, Sport is waiting to meet you! Adoption Process: - Adoption Application - Phone Conversation - Meet & Greet - Home Visit - Application Approval - Adoption Fee & Contract ($290) Our adoption application is available at pnwcdr.org/adopt.

Story
“My name is Pendleton, and I like warm hugs!” Pendleton is a 4-year-old, fun-sized (40 lb.) Australian cattle dog: the perfect blend of post-puppy energy and adult dog “chill”. This affectionate and loyal boy is looking for a forever home that will provide him with stability and love, and in return he will adore you and everyone that enters your home. Pendleton is athletic and loves to play fetch and chase, but don’t let his liveliness fool you; he is completely content to cuddle with his people in between spurts of play. He is an extremely affectionate boy towards his humans and has not met a person he does not like – to include children. However, Pendleton likes to jump and give hugs, and so he would likely do best in a home without very small children. We do not know much about Pendleton’s history prior to his arrival at PNWCDR, but he is very fearful of other dogs (and apparently cats) and is dog-reactive, especially when he is on a leash. Therefore, he needs a home without other animals. Pendleton would make a great outdoor adventure buddy and is well-suited for the Pacific Northwest lifestyle (hiking, running, etc.). He is extremely smart and is responding well to training, and he might enjoy agility or other work-oriented activities. Pendleton will be seeing a behavioralist about coping strategies and potentially medication to help him confront his fear of other dogs. The ideal adopter would have the patience required for him to continue his decompression and transition to a new home and be willing to continue his training to reduce reactivity to scary stimuli. He is up to date on his age-appropriate core vaccinations, neutered, house-trained, microchipped, and doing great learning his common commands. Pendleton knows how to “sit”, go to his “bed”, “wait”, and he comes to his name. He will even sit and wait before being released to eat his breakfast and dinner! Pendleton is currently being fostered in Spokane, WA and the adoption fee is $390. If you are interested in meeting Pendleton, please fill out an adoption form on our website: pdwcdr.org/adopt. Please note we do not do DNA testing on our foster dogs; the breed description is our best guess based on appearance. Adoption process: • Adoption Application • Phone Convo • Meet & Greet • Home Visit • Application Approval • Adoption Fee & Contract Pendleton is: altered, up to date with routine shots, house trained, might not be suitable for a home with small children.

Story
Meet Tippy! Tippy is a beautiful 5-year-old red heeler with a cautious but sweet nature. Her world has recently changed a lot, and she's still adjusting, so she's feeling a bit nervous right now. Tippy comes from a unique background-she lived with a single man and five other dogs. While she had plenty of canine company, she often kept to herself, preferring her own space. Like many reservation dogs, Tippy is a little more careful and reserved, having been overstimulated by the energy of chaotic dogs around her. Despite her nerves, Tippy has a lot of potential to thrive in the right environment. She just needs patience, understanding, and the chance to build trust at her own pace. With the stability of a calm, loving home, Tippy's loyal and intelligent heeler nature is sure to shine through. She's ready to form a deep bond with someone willing to give her the time and care she deserves!

Story
Bjorn (bee-yearn) is a working family dog. He is 6 years old. Great with other dogs, cats, animals and kids. He loves to play fetch at the dog park, car rides and the company of others. He's not altered and purebred. He's a sweetheart, and a great companion dog but unfortunately our lease won't allow him. We're really sad to give him up but hope he finds a great family.
