Story
Animal Profile: Beethoven (hearing impaired like his namesake) is an estimated 3.5-year-old 40 lb neutered male mixed breed -- possibly terrier aussie mix mix -- who was a stray intake to the Caddo Parish Shelter in Louisiana and was assessed to be friendly, social and outgoing with everyone. He has a coat made for the PNW! This boy was used for dog testing because he is neutral or friendly with everyone. We will share more info once we get to know him in foster care.   Foster Update: Beethoven can't hear but he is a next-level snuggle buddy and goofy boy who is house-trained, crate trained, and friendly with other dogs. He's also done okay with cats. He'd do best with a dog buddy in his home. He is prone to anxiety without proper leadership so an experienced dog owner who can provide training and help him be his best self is needed. Thoven has nice leash manners and is non-destructive in the house.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from Caddo Parish animal shelter in Louisiana and arrived to Seattle area via Tail Lights Rescue Project on 08/08//2023. He was adopted and then returned about a year later due to not being a good fit in his home (single man no other dogs in an apartment). He is currently in foster care in North Bend and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area. December 18, 2024, 4:41 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Ellen is a 12 week old Terrier X puppy who will be joining us with her 3 siblings on 12/16/2024 via our TX partner Saving Shelter Strays. The puppies along with mom were living under an abandoned trailer and were picked by our rescue partner Saving Shelter Strays. They are currently in a foster home waiting for their freedom ride to the PNW to find their forever homes.  Foster Update:   Ellen is about 12weeks old and is doing so good at life. She is very food motivated and is currently working on crate training.  During the day she does great with her potty schedule and has very few accidents for how young she is! Potty training is a work in progress but she is making great strides each day.  She loves the resident pack of dogs and they play well together. She goes on a multiple walks a day and loves getting out and seeing new things. She is adorable and  loves to be with people and follows them everywhere. She will need active home to meet her puppy enrgy, if your looking for a hiking buddy she would love to join you. Ellen will be big girl (Mom is aprox 70 lbs). We are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard, large breed experience and a canine companion to play with would be a plus. Due to breed and size we are not considering apartments for this girl.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from our partner in Texas Saving Shelter Strays and arriving on 12/16/2024 to the Seattle area. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.February 21, 2025, 1:31 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Russel is a 8.5 week old Terrier X puppy who joined us with his 3 siblings on 12/16/2024 via our TX partner Saving Shelter Strays. The puppies, along with mom, were living under an abandoned trailer and were picked by our rescue partner Saving Shelter Strays. They are currently in a foster home waiting for their freedom ride to the PNW to find their forever homes.  Foster Update: Rambunctious baby Russel is one of the funniest puppies we've fostered. He looks like the cutest little piglet ever, plays like a Tasmanian Devil, and sleeps like a sedated slug. Russel will crawl into your arms to fall asleep, but will also crawl into your arms to try to play-chomp your face and body (you don't always know which he's planning to do, and he gets pouty if you decline either activity). Hilarious, expressive, and opinionated around people and animals he knows, Russel is still unsure of new people and places. He would like a home with a friendly, confident dog to show him the ropes, and people who will help him work on his confidence and meet his needs for play and activity--but will also understand if he ends up being a dog who prefers familiar places to adventures away from home. Russel is doing well with his potty training and crate training, knows his name and sit, and will thrive with continued training. This smooshy-faced boy is good with dogs of all sizes and ages, enjoys cats, and is passionate about toys and chews. We are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and a canine companion. Due to breed and size, we are not considering apartments.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Story
Animal Profile: Freddo is a 12-year-old neutered male Australian Cattle Dog; despite his senior age he is in good health and enjoys daily 3-mile walks. Freddo has been through a lot of changes recently, losing his owner to cancer and being privately rehomed then "returned" after 36 hours. We are now assisting to help find Freddo a suitable home that can be patient with him as he transitions to a final placement. His current foster reports that he has some anxious tendencies including pacing in the first days to week in a new environment, and isn't attention seeking in that time. However, once he settles in he is affectionate, loyal, gives great eye contact, and is a low-key and loving companion. Freddo would do best in a calm household with another balanced dog or as the only dog, and no cats or kids (though he has lived with both previously, in his older age a calmer environment is best).  Freddo is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows basic commands.  Foster Notes: Fred has a friendly and sweet demeanor when meeting new people. He solicits pets and likes to lean on people even when first meeting and usually makes a great first impression. At the end of first week in foster, Fred would would seek out foster to cuddle and nap with, and was able to form a bond after the initial decompression period of ~5 days. In a relaxed state, he is very affectionate and attentive to his human companion. Fred is a physically fit and energetic. He walks very well on loose leash in familiar surroundings. He is able to do 2 to 5 miles a day of leashed walk in addition to play time indoors. He eats and drinks normally, and has had normal bowel movements in foster. Fred is not typically leash reactive to other dogs even when barked at. Fred enjoys exploring off leash in a fenced area with supervision. He is likely capable of and would benefit from an even higher level of activities and mental stimulation. Fred is crate trained and has been sleeping in closed crate at night without issues in foster. &#226&#128&#139Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $150, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History:  Freddo was owned in Maryland; his owner lost her 8 year battle with cancer and the owner's family rehomed to a family in WA who determined he wasn't a good fit after 36 hrs. A friend of the family and foster for DGS took him in temporarily. He is being cared for in the Seattle area and DGS is assisting to hopefully find placement for this senior guy. February 15, 2025, 1:25 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Hobbes is an estimated 2-year-old, 60 lb neutered male heeler mix. Foster Update: Where are my herding dog lovers? This guy is a dream!  Hobbes has really come out of his shell a lot since the first week !  He has become quite the lap dog and loves to lay next (or ON) to either me or my husband. He’s gets playful spurts and zoomies but he doesn't necessarily have high exercise needs. He is looking for an active family, but you don't have to hike 10 miles a day with him. He walks wonderfully on the leash, and pays a lot of attention to you while walking. He has gotten to the point where he will stand by our glass door if he needs to go out and is basically fully house trained now. He does very well in his crate and has been taking his meals in there and sleeping in it at night with no issues. His personality is very goofy, and since getting comfortable in our home he has been very quick to warm to people who enter the environment. He has a funny habit of wanting to stare deeply into your face from about 1 inch from your nose. Hobbes would be fine as the only dog in the home or with a smaller female dog. He has not been in a foster with kids, but dog respectful children 12 plus will be considered. Breed experience is a plus. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Hobbes, who came from City of Roswell Animal Services and was transported via Wiggle Butts, joined our foster care in the Seattle area on 1/26/25 and will be available for adoption soon!February 23, 2025, 11:56 pm
