Story
Meet Pudge, a 1-year-old neutered male Heeler mix.Pudge is looking for a home that can help him feel safe. At the adoption center he is spending his days in the managers office learning to trust staff. Pudge is under-socialized and fearful at times. He is more comfortable when he can be around another dog and is likely to do well in a home with a more confident K9 companion. Pudge currently needs a home with no small children as they will startle him. A fully fenced in yard is a must while Pudge learns to be on a leash. While we know that Pudge is going to need a special adopter, we are confident that he is going to be a very loyal companion once he feels safe and bonded. *Update* Pudge is doing great with all the other dogs at the adoption center. He is working on touch with the manager and has started to enjoy treats. If you are interested in adopting this pet, please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org and a staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is lifesaving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Lorcan, a six week old Cattle Dog/Chihuahua puppy. Lorcan is from a litter of nine puppies that came in as part of our My Last Litter Program where we spay Momma and adopt out the puppies. Their Dad is an Australian Cattle Dog and Mom is a Chihuahua mix who weighs around 25 pounds. Lorcan currently weights around 4 pounds so we expect him to be on the small side of medium sized when he is full grown. Him and his siblings are all very sweet and a blank slate for people to train into their perfect companion! They will be available to adoption on 9/18/24 but we are currently accepting holds on them. Please remember that Lorcan is a puppy and puppy behavior comes with the package. They need basic training and potty training along with being provided chew toys to encourage proper chewing habits. All puppies require socializing from a young age to help them become the best, most well-rounded dog they can be.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Sunday, that's right we are open all days of the week! A Picture says 1000 words...right?
