Story
Looking for a loyal, hiking-loving companion? Meet Canelo! Canelo is a gentleman with striking looks, who checks so many boxes for any dog lover. He is a calm-companion who is ready for it all, from naps on the couch to weekend get-aways to your favorite hiking spot. Canelo is estimated to be 4 years old which lends itself to that calmer, more mature energy. His fur patterning and body type lead us to believe he may be a cattle dog mix, the mix seems to have cancelled out the busy nature many cattle dogs are known for. Canelo is full grown and weighs 46 lbs, a perfect medium size boy! Keep in mind that given he is a rescue we cannot guarantee breed or age. In Canelo’s Get-To-Know video, seen here https://youtu.be/hrprt6Z-xi8 his foster introduces us to him from her personal experience. Having a dog in a foster home while they wait for their adoption day is amazingly beneficial. We get a front-row seat to who they are in an everyday home environment and they get to practice being a house dog. Canelo’s reports from his foster family all come back so positive! They have shared that he is a wonderful walking partner, joining in 1-2 walks a day, and is great on leash. He keeps a steady pace, occasionally letting his nose guide the way, and takes redirection well. One of his fosters favorite things when getting ready to head out on a walk with Canelo is how patiently he sits and waits by the door for her to leash him up. These walks are for getting some steps in and soaking up the sights. His foster home has a dedicated yard and we love sharing this detail- he is fully house-trained and has impeccable manners! No barking at the door, no jumping on guests, and no pushy displays of attention seeking. He’ll greet you with a sniff, then happily hang out nearby. He’s mellow around people and has been gentle with the older kids (10+) he has met. While we haven’t tested him with younger children, his calm demeanor suggests he’d do well in a laid-back home. Canelo isn’t reactive to other dogs and has stayed cool even when larger, unsupervised dogs have approached while on a walk. In his foster home he is the only dog and although he is great meeting dogs and sharing space with them, he would love to be a solo-dog soaking up the love. As for cats, none for Canelo, he is a little *too* interested in them! Canelo loves spending time with his humans and is happiest just being by your side. Whether you’re lounging at home, enjoying a walk, or exploring a hiking trail, he’s all in. He’s a grazer when it comes to food, never a gobbler, and sleeps peacefully in his open-door crate in the living room. He’ll even brave the rain and snow for potty breaks—talk about dedication! Because he loves with his whole heart, he will express a bit of sadness when his person leaves. His foster shared that he has whined at the door before when one of them has left. This separation anxiety will ease with time and consistency and he will learn to feel secure when you are away. He is smart, eager to please and has been easy to train, so whatever you choose to tackle together, he is going to shine. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who’s ready to fill your life with love, adventure, and loyalty, Canelo is ready and waiting! We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $825 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
Frankie is a 5yo Blue Heeler. We are guessing he has some Border Collie in him too due to his hair/appearance. He is a kind and loving dog that needs regular exercise and attention. Frankie would thrive in a home with NO other dogs and NO small children. He is gentle with cats but does try to herd them. Frankie is highly intelligent but slightly stubborn. He is a great watch dog and is very loyal to his humans. He does need a bit of leash training as he tries to lead and barks at other dogs. He has a great personality and is looking for a forever home where he is able to run outside and get lots of attention.

Story
~~THIS DOES IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT ksherman91@live.com  THANK YOU ~~ Frankie is a 5year old Blue Heeler. Frankie is a good boy with a sweet heart. He loves his humans and is a great watch dog. He loves outdoor time and playing fetch with a ball or a frisbee. He is the first to greet you when you get home and is sad to see you leave. He is potty trained and incredibly smart, but also a little stubborn. He knows many commands but tests his independence sometimes when off leash. Frankie is an only dog and would prefer to stay that way. He does well on leash but when he crosses other dogs' paths he tends to bark or try to show dominance. With consistent walks I believe this could be corrected. He loves going on adventures and walks. He has lived with cats his whole life and is gentle with them but as a cattle dog he tends to herd them. Frankie would do fine with older kids but cannot be with small children. He tends to react when provoked or stressed. He is due for his latest shots and is otherwise healthy without any health concerns.  Frankie would thrive in a home with a fenced in yard with room to play and run, no other dogs, and no small children. He needs regular exercise and attention. Frankie is roughly 50 lbs and has medium length black and white hair. I do imagine he might take a short amount of time to  acclimate to his new surroundings and people since he has been with us his whole life, but once he gets to know you he will show his affection.  ##2205185##

Story
Are you in search of a one-of-a-kind serial kisser? Well, look no further, because I, Mandy, am the dog you've been waiting for! I come with a mix of awesomeness and a charming personality that's sure to steal your heart. I can be delightfully laid-back, enjoying those calm moments, or I can transform into a bouncing ball of joy when the mood strikes. Walks and jogs? Count me in, especially if you're by my side. But here's the thing-I love playing with other dogs so much that I often choose their company over toys. Let's talk sunbathing. If your couch has that perfect spot for catching rays, you can bet I'll be there, soaking it all in. I'm a big fan of lounging, whether it's under tables, during dinner time, while you're working at your desk, or even when you're cuddled up in bed. I'm all about being close to my people, and if you choose to adopt me, I'll be all about you! I'm a sociable girl, getting along well with other dogs and kids (especially with submissive/non-dominant dogs). My crate training and potty training with a doggy door are top-notch. I'm a pro at commands like going to my crate and sitting patiently. Now, about my diet-here's the deal: I have EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency), which means my pancreas doesn't produce the enzymes I need to digest food properly. Thanks to some attentive rescuers and veterinary care, we've got it all figured out. I'll need a specific diet and a pancreatic enzyme replacement supplement to keep me feeling great. Think of it as a special appetizer and entree at every meal. EPI won't slow me down, and I'm ready to trade serial kisses for a loving forever home day in and day out. So, how about it? Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
