Story
Animal Profile: Ames is an approximately 18 month old, 40 lb neutered cattle dog mix that joined us from New Mexico on 12/4/23. He was surrendered by a finder who held him temporarily and reported he was good with dogs. Foster Update:  While shy at first, Ames, or Sparky as he is known in his foster home, is an incredibly loyal pup who loves to play tug and fetch when he’s not snoozing the day away. This handsome boy has a playful yet gentle demeanor. He is crate and house trained and loves his toys! He will play on his own if you're not available by throwing his toys in the air and catching them. Ames is highly intelligent and really thrives with structure, training, and most importantly play! He is happiest when rough housing with another dog. He can play for hours and will do best in a home with another playful dog his size or larger. He is food motivated and a fast learner, picking up on commands like sit, lie down, touch, spin, and shake. Ames will do best in a quiet home, with adopters who are able to provide strong leadership and continue to help build his confidence.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Roswell, New Mexico.  He arrived on 12/4 and is now available for adoption in the greater Seattle area after evaluation in foster care. November 3, 2024, 9:26 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Raven is a female Cattle Dog/Great Pyrenees mix (best guess), estimated to be 1 year old and currently weighing 50lbs. She and her 3 siblings were surrendered to Freer Animal Shelter and were then taken in by our rescue partner in Texas. Raven is shy until she gets to know you, then is a total sweetheart. Foster Update:  Miss Raven is shy, but very sweet. She has excellent crate manners and is potty trained having no accidents in her current foster home. Raven looks to the resident dogs (a Doberman and a Chihuahua) for guidance in every day life. She walks well on a leash, and does not have any desire to approach new people or other dogs on walks. Raven is food motivated, and her foster mom is currently working on confidence building through leash training, exposure and patience. Raven took a few days to start to settle in and approach her foster mom for affection but now comes running for full body rubs. She does startle easily, and would do best in a home without young children though she is very tolerant of the resident 4 year old in the home. Raven will need a patient, understanding adopter that is committed to helping her live her best life. She needs a companion dog (or two or three) in her adoptive home. She does need a securely fenced yard, and her ideal adopter would have shy dog experience. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from our partner in Texas and arriving via Paws Up Rescue on 02/19/2024 to the Seattle area. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.November 3, 2024, 9:26 pm

Story
Kobe is a 6-year-old Staffordshire Australian Cattle Dog mix who is fantastic with people and has a heart full of love to give. Fetch is his absolute favorite, and he’ll happily play all day, then curl up on the couch with you for a quiet evening, or maybe some belly scratches. Kobe is dog reactive on leash, and while he can do OK when one on one with familiar dogs, he easily gets overstimulated and needs close supervision. He also has a strong prey drive, and really would like a home where he can be the only animal. He can get a bit anxious if left alone for more than 4-6 hours. He's used to a hybrid work week (2 days a week home alone, with a sitter dropping in), so he’d do best with someone who has a flexible schedule or can arrange for a sitter to check in. Kobe has done nosework and agility for reactive dogs in the past and would be thrilled to continue either of these with a dedicated owner. If you're looking for an active, loving companion, Kobe could be the perfect fit!

Story
Lemon is a sweet, energetic, and loving cuddle bug. She's very affectionate and will drown you in kisses if you let her. Despite her size, she thinks she's a lap dog, and you can find her there most times if you're hanging out on the couch or in bed reading. She needs a family with an active lifestyle and a large yard to run around in, preferably with another dog to play with as she's grown up with one since she was a young pup. We are rehoming her because she has developed some destructive tendencies due to lack of exercise and we have come to the heart-breaking conclusion that our family is just not the right fit for her. She needs more open space and long walks to get her energy out, but she will play with you forever if you let her. Lemon will become the bright sunshine in your life that you never realized you were missing, the little sparkle of joy, and a source of endless love and affection.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Sundae! She is loyal, happy, has boundless energy, is incredibly smart and is alert and wary of strangers. This girl is a herding breed dog who would love a home outside of the city on acreage where she can have a job to do. She is not for the sedentary dog owner. She loves to walk the perimeter of her property and in typical herding dog fashion will redirect people and alert them once she's familiar with her boundaries. Due to her herding breed, she has an irresistible impulse to herd, anything: cars, dogs, kids, etc. so an adult only home would be best for her. Sundae bonds deeply with her person and can be protective of them. She will need to be in a home where there is strong leadership. She can be reactive or show guarding behavior in stressful situations that she feels are 'threatening' to her person. She can also redirect in these situations or when displaying her herding instincts. She will need a firm hand and strong supervision when there is a lot of stimulation. She has her challenges, but she is incredibly loving and loyal to her people. She is spayed, current on her shots and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $150.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Say hello to Zip! He is an energetic 1.5-year-old, 36lb Queensland Healer who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter in CA. Zip is a sweet, playful, rambunctious, and smart dog. He learns incredibly fast, is very treat motivated, and takes treats gently. Zip would love a home that is active and provide him with the exercise he needs. He will also need an adopter that is committed to his basic obedience training and providing him with the mental stimulation he requires as well. He can be quite mouthy so we recommend no small children as he works through this. Zip has done well with other dogs in our care and would be a great additional dog to a home or he would be fine as an only dog with continued socialization. He is very much looking for a job and would love a handler that keeps life interesting for him. Zip has a super soft coat, charming brown eyes, and a great smile! He is more than ready for his forever home! Zip is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Meet Magellan! He had been living on the street for a few months when someone asked if we could take him in. He’s sooooo happy and bouncy! He weighs 51 pounds and is about a year old, still a baby with sparkling white teeth! He is GREAT with the other dogs in the yard, but plays a little too rough for smaller dogs. He has a chill disposition and isn’t dominant with the other dogs. Magellan is super smart and did great during his brief time in a temporary home. He learned sit and down quickly, and he does well in his crate. He loves to cuddle. Magellan loves to play!
