Story
Rescue from Texas- 1yo, 42 lbs. Annie sweet and friendly pup that has had a rough first year of life. Annie was found as a stray when she was only a baby. She was taken to a shelter and then was lucky to be fostered and later adopted to a very irresponsible adopter. Annie was found wondering and end up back at the pound. Annie was deprived of food while she was abandoned, so for now food has to be served to her individually, away from other pets. Now, Annie is in a foster home and is looking for her loving family. She is extremely goofy and funny. She loves to play and snuggles. She is very yang and active, can be vocal, puppy-playful, and just a fun dog. She loves to use her paws to hold things in her mouth, just like a person. Annie loves bones and toys, she got her favorite. Sweet Annie is ready to find her forever family. She likes all humans and kids but due to her not liking to share her food, there should be older kids. Please consider adding orphan Annie to your family! Story
Location is Westminster, MD. Wilfred is looking for his next adventure! Wilfred is approximately 7 years old and is an Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix. He is wicked smart and has medium energy and would do best with daily exercise. He would make an excellent hiking partner, agility prospect and would excel at learning tricks. He loves catching frisbees and balls and enjoys squeak toys. He walks well on a leash, but also has great recall off-leash. He is very obedient and has a kind heart. He loves riding in the car and will patiently wait for you to return. His ideal home would be with an individual, couple, or the right family. He previously lived with small children and was very gentle. Just like most ACD’s, he likes to get to know his people and approach on his own terms. Now, to what he does not like…NO CATS!! He had a terrible experience with a cat in his previous life and he is still trying to get revenge. He will chase small animals, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, but can be verbally redirected easily. He previously lived with another female dog and is sharing my house with two male dogs. I think with the proper introduction, he would get along with either sex. I would recommend that they be about the same size. I do not think he would tolerate small, vocal, or anxious dogs. I would also recommend that his fur friends be confident…he previously lived with an insecure dog, and he fed off her anxious energy. I have calm, confident dogs and he has been fine. He is crate trained and house broken. He can be left out of the crate and has not had any accidents or damaged any furniture. If he gets anxious or unsure of a situation, gunfire, or fireworks, he likes to grab a squeak toy which redirects his attention and calms him down. I live near a gun range, and he has gotten less reactive to the noise since he first arrived. The dog has a lot of heart. He tries extremely hard to please. If you think Wilfred would make your home complete, please reach out to me with any questions. He is currently being fostered in Westminster, MD. Foster, J. Story
Mack Fostered In: Washburn, TN Hi All! My name is Mack, a nice masculine name for a handsome dude like me! I am an approximately 1.5 year old cattle dog mix, stop chuckling, I really am. My mama was cattle dog and my dad was probably a very handsome lab (clearly I take after dad). Foster mom says I am a very good boy, she tells me all the time, Mack you are a very good boy. I am a low to medium energy boy who doesn't mind spending all day on the couch watching a good netflix movie; but I am also up to a nice walk in the woods so I can take in all the smells and sounds. I do still like to chew on inappropriate things (mom decides what is inappropriate) so when mom isn't home I do spend time in my crate and I am good with that. I don't mind taking a nice lazy nap in my crate. I can be redirected easily to things I am supposed to chew on! I have been hanging out with my sister Scarlett, but I do well with other dogs as long as you give me just a few minutes to give them a good look over and a few sniffs. Once I determine they smell okay, I am willing to play! Did I mention I like the human things called kids. Especially if they are willing to take me for a walk or play. Mama says I am good on a leash, house trained and very kind and respectful. I would love to share your couch with you and do some exploring! Mack is currently being fostered in Washburn TN, but don't let distance deter you from inquiring about this handsome boy! Hi all, foster mom here, Mack is a really good boy, up to date on vaccines and is neutered. He would make a great family dog! If you have any questions about Mack email me at syn_rodger@yahoo.com You can find an application to adopt here: https://www.acdra.org/adoption-applicationNovember 5, 2024, 9:56 pm

Story
Location is Norton, MA. If you’re looking for a sweet, sassy, and silly dog that will absolutely adore you, meet you in all of your feelings, and look at you like you’re their whole world, look no further than Ziva, the 40 lb., 6.5-year-old, Australian Cattle Dog mix.  She’s incredibly intelligent, crate trained, fully house trained and can even ring a bell to tell you when she needs to use the bathroom! She knows all your standard tricks, but also has a handful of really fun ones like spinning, high fives, and playing dead. She really enjoys the toughest of chew toys, food puzzles, tug of war, and snuggles and scratches. She’s terrible at fetch! She will chase the ball but then will insist you chase her to get it back. Huge fan of sticks. You will inevitably have to tell her that she’s given you enough kisses and must cease such, and though she will protest profusely, she will eventually acquiesce!     Ziva needs to be the only dog in the home.  Ziva will not want to co-exist with any other pets and is currently separated from the other dog in the home by alternating crate time.  A fenced backyard would be best where she can run freely to get her needed exercise away from other dogs.  Dog parks and walks around other dogs would not do well for her unfortunately.    Ziva will sit next to you on the couch and love the quiet attention as well.  She won’t hog the blankets at night but will frequently crawl under them and lay against your side.  If the two dogs here did get along then I would be keeping them both but two years of keeping them separated in the same home has shown that she must have her own home.   Ziva is in Norton, MA and is looking for her forever home. If you are that home, or have any other questions about Ziva, please reach out and contact johan.stewart@gmail.com. Story
Meet Paloma Hi Ya! My name is Paloma and I am 14 years young!! I heard someone call me a senior and I say bologna!!!! I may be 14 in years but my mind still thinks I am like seven, okay maybe eight! Can you believe my previous family took me to a shelter to have me go to sleep FOREVER! Uh-uh a nice lady from ACDRA said we aint having none of that and she busted me out. They said my legs weren't working right anymore so it was time for me to cross the rainbow bridge. Turns out my legs work just fine, I just needed some medication to help them feel better! And now I have made it all the way from North Carolina to Upstate NY where it is COLD! But good news so far the cold doesn't make me any more achy and I am discovering I like the nice fall cool air and I love playing in the leaves! I am living with eleven other dogs and its all right, I like them all but my favorite is GusGus cuz he will run with me and he also has a bad knee so we can keep up with each other. There are a couple who don't like to share their toys so I have also learned to be respectful of them and honestly pretty much ignore them. I love love love just hanging out with my humans, I watch a lot of hockey games with dad and scary movies with mom since its almost halloween. My favorite thing in the world is just to be touched. I am totally okay if you just want to hang on the couch all day and rub my belly; but I am still up for a good walk in the woods. I do not have any accidents inside and will let you know when I have to go out. I put myself in my crate when I want to have some quiet time, but mom says I don't really need a crate as I am not a chewer and don't make any messes. Mom says I am a foodie as I love ALL food and I will sit quite nicely for a biscuit! And are you ready for this??? I even like a bath, the warm water felt so good and it got me some extra rubs from mom and dad. Dad discovered I like to play ball and I really like stuffies!!! The only thing I am not a fan of is long car rides, so if you plan on doing a lot of traveling, I am probably not the girl for you unless you don't mind me singing to you (mama calls it whining) while we are riding. I like meeting new people, do well meeting new dogs and I respond very well to my name! Mama says I am the all around perfect girl and house guest! I would really like to find someone to live out the rest of my senior years with that I can have all to myself, maybe that is you! If you have any questions, foster mom will be happy to answer them her email is mrulffes@gmail.com.   Foster mom here! Paloma is one of the sweetest, most happy dogs we have ever had the privilege to foster. Although she is reported to be 14, she doesn't act it, other than she has some stiff hips and is currently on Rimadyl which has helped tremendously. She doesn't seem to be in any pain and her mobility is pretty good. We honestly were anticipating a hospice girl who would be living out her last days with us, but she is by no means ready to check out of life any time soon! I think she would love someone retired or who works from home as she really loves to just be with her people. We do crate her when she is unsupervised; but that isn't often. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. She is currently on HW and flea and tick preventatives and did test HW negative. She is living with 11 others dogs and has had no issues. If you have a soft spot for the seniors, this is your girl! She is currently being Fostered in Canton, NY. Please contact Mrulffes@gmail.com. Story
PA: Location: Pittsburgh, Hi Everyone, please meet Sadie.  She is a 1.5 year old cattle dog mix who is looking for her forever person.  Sadie was rescued from a shelter that she was dropped off at with her babies 6 months ago.  Her pups were taken from her when they were all dropped off and Sadie let everyone know she was unhappy.  Unfortunately, that led her to the section of the shelter that meant her days were very numbered.  In fact, when I e-mailed that I would foster her, the response went from “It doesn’t look good, she is no longer posted."  Then, 2 days later, “Holy S@&$, she’s alive!”   This baby is one of the most loving dogs I have every been around.  All she wants is her person, a ball to chase, and a place to curl up up on at the end of the bed.  Or your lap.  Or your feet.  And if she beats her foster brother, right beside you.  Sadie really is a very loving dog with her person.   Now for where she is in her journey with people.  Sadie needs someone that is committed to her socialization.  She has little trust in people and is selective.  She will bark at people and/or walk away from them.  Sadie is particularly vocal towards men and less so towards woman.  She really needs someone who understands that much of her behavior is fear based and has the patience and time to make the commitment to work with her.  Sadie did have some separation anxiety at first, but is doing fine now while I am away at work.  I really believe she will be an amazing forever BFF for the right person. Sadie gets along great with other dogs, loves to play fetch and wrestles with her foster brother.  She walks well on a leash, knows some basic commands and is house trained.   Sadie is spayed and up to date on all preventatives.   She would probably do best in a single female household with no children.  Sadie is being fostered near Pittsburgh Pa.  If interested ,please fill out an application on the ACDRA.org website and forward question to trearick@comcast.net.
