Story
Roo arrived at NCCR on 3/27/24, rescued when her owners could no longer provide care for her. She is an approximately 6-7-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog. Roo is very friendly to people, and lived with several other dogs, but seems a little intolerant of dogs that pester her or get in her space too much. She knows how to throw her weight around (and she could stand to lose a few pounds!), so she may be too strong for very small children. She has received a full veterinary checkup and was spayed and brought up to date with vaccinations and needed care. Roo may need more work on her house-training skills, as she has some accidents if not kept on a schedule. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

Story
Hey there, humans! I'm Axel, the cutest little bundle of energy you'll ever meet! Just look into my GORGEOUS eyes, and you'll be smitten. My story starts off a bit dramatic-imagine a soap opera with fur! I was found wandering the streets with my mom. Right after some lovely rescue ladies scooped us up, my former owner showed up and said, "I'll take the mom but leave the pup." And just like that, I became a rescued pup (because I was the last of an unwanted litter.) Talk about a plot twist! Since then, I've been crashing at a foster home and learning all sorts of new tricks. Walking on a leash? Nailed it! Living without mom was tough at first, but I've adjusted like a champ. I'm also getting the hang of this whole crate and housetraining business. You could say I'm a fast learner, but don't expect me to figure out quantum physics anytime soon! Almost everything is new to me since I wasn't exactly socialized in my previous dogs. I'm on a mission to learn more and more each day, so I'm on the lookout for a family that's got the time and patience to help me on my educational journey. Oh, and did I mention I'm a social butterfly? I get along with dogs, kids, not sure about cats! Now, let's talk breed: I'm an Australian Cattle Dog, which means I'm basically a furry bundle of intelligence and energy. We're known for our smarts, loyalty, and, let's be honest, our stubborn streak. I need mental stimulation and lots of exercise to keep me happy and healthy. Understanding my breed is key to understanding me, so if you're ready for a fun, energetic, and slightly mischievous pup, then I'm your guy! So, if you're up for the adventure, let's create our own sitcom filled with laughter, learning, and a lot of love! -We only place dogs in homes that meet THEIR needs. -Be sure to visit our Facebook page for additional pictures and information on our rescues! Story
Hi there, I’m Orion! They say I’m named after a constellation of stars, and you know what? I like to think that fits me just right. Like my celestial namesake, I might not always be the first one you notice in a crowd, but once you do, you’ll see I shine in my own special way. I’ve got a calm, laid-back vibe that’s a little different from your typical Australian Cattle Dog energy. Sure, I still enjoy a good walk or some playtime, but I’m also perfectly content lounging by your side, soaking up the love. Here’s another bright spot: I get along great with other dogs! Whether it’s a playmate in the yard or a buddy to share the couch with, I’m happy to make friends and share the good vibes. I was found wandering as a stray, so I’m still figuring out what it means to have a real home. I hear it’s pretty amazing, though, and I can’t wait to meet someone who’ll give me that chance. At almost 2 years old and 56 pounds, I’m just the right size to be your loyal companion without taking over your whole couch. I’m already neutered and ready to be the brightest star in your life. So, what do you say? Are you ready to make your universe a little brighter with me in it? I’ll be here, wagging my tail and waiting to meet you! Orion's adoption fee is $275. Story
Hi there, I’m Gabby. I may have been a stray before, but deep down, I’m just a lovebug waiting for my forever family. The day before Valentine’s Day, I was found wandering, searching for something—maybe a warm hug, a kind voice, or a place to finally call home. I’m a one-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix, weighing in at a perfect 36 pounds of sweetness. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate pup who melts under chin scratches and belly rubs, I’m your girl. I love people and seem to have this whole house-training thing down pretty well! I get along with other dogs and even cats, so I’d be the perfect addition to a home filled with love. I can be a little shy at first, but give me a moment, and I’ll be leaning into you, soaking up all the love I can get. I just want a family to share my heart with—someone to remind me that I’m safe, cherished, and right where I belong. Could that be you? Come meet me, and let’s start our happily-ever-after. Gabby's adoption fee is $275. You can learn more about Gabby and other dogs at Happy Bark by visiting www.happybark.org PA Kennel License 17445
