Story
Meet Niles! He is approximately 2yrs old and a Blue Heeler mix. Niles is a little shy with people he does not know but does warm up to those who take time for him. His new owner should be willing to help Niles be a more confident dog by slowly introducing him to new experiences and people. We are recommending older children or an adult only home. Niles is an extremely smart and active dog. He needs room to run and to be able to get the exercise he needs. This breed is happiest having a job to do. That "job" could be as simple as "official stick retrieval or frisbee catcher". Niles would also be great at agility training. A fenced yard for him would be a plus! He is a perfect dog for an outdoorsy owner. If you are interested in Niles, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesday 6-8pm or Saturday 12-3pm.

Story
Roo arrived at NCCR on 3/27/24, rescued when her owners could no longer provide care for her. She is an approximately 6-7-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog. Roo is very friendly to people, and lived with several other dogs, but seems a little intolerant of dogs that pester her or get in her space too much. She knows how to throw her weight around (and she could stand to lose a few pounds!), so she may be too strong for very small children. She has received a full veterinary checkup and was spayed and brought up to date with vaccinations and needed care. Roo may need more work on her house-training skills, as she has some accidents if not kept on a schedule. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

Story
Meg arrived at NCCR on 3/27/24, taken in when her family could no longer provide adequate care for her. She is an approximately 2-3-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog. Meg is a little timid with some people, but warms up with some high-pitched sweet talk. She lived with several other dogs and seemed to get along fine with them. She has received a veterinary checkup, was spayed, and has been brought up to date with vaccinations. Meg is a herding breed and will likely do best with a family that can give her plenty of exercise and a job to do. She seems to be house trained, and loves attention and cuddles once she gets to know you. Story
Dixie was a rescue puppy from Texas. She is very smart and sweet. She already knows commands. She is crate-trained and potty-trained. Dixie is a Blue Healer (Australian Cattle Dog) who loves to run and enjoys outdoor space. Our family is very busy and we are not finding enough time to spend with Dixie. Because she is a rescue she is a little anxious and would benefit from an owner who can take the time to help her adjust to her surroundings.

Story
Rowan is a sweet 16 week old Cattle Dog/Staffy mix. His adult weight is tough to estimate but we would think 40-60lbs full grown. He was saved from euthanasia by our rescue partner in KY and recently made his way to us along with his brother Reilly to search for their forever homes! They are currently living with cats and dogs of all sizes and love everyone and everything. They sleep in a crate through the night with no accidents and their potty training is coming along excellent! These pups would be the perfect addition to any household Please note, Rowan and Reilly are only available on a foster to adopt basis until their neuters. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please fill out an application at www.rosebudrescue.com/adopt *If you have previously submitted an application for another dog who is pending or has been adopted, you can email us with your full name and phone number and ask us to process your application for another dog or general pre-approval instead*

Story
Sailor is a 2 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix (possibly Akita!) weighing around 50lbs. He recently came to us from a shelter in New Jersey. They picked him up as a stray running down the highway jumping over the medians to avoid capture! Sailor has been good with both male and female dogs, and is on the neutral side but likes to play when he gets comfortable. He’s young and has a high energy so he can get a bit overstimulated at times and would benefit from a calm but confident owner. He is crate trained and potty trained when kept on a consistent routine. He loves walks but needs some work on loose leash walking. Sailor is looking for a home WITHOUT cats as he is overly interested in playing with and herding them. Due to his size and energy we would not recommend him for a household with young children. Please note, Sailor is only available on a foster to adopt basis until after a few more vaccine updates. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please fill out an application at www.rosebudrescue.com/adopt *If you have previously submitted an application for another dog who is pending or has been adopted, you can email us with your full name and phone number and ask us to process your application for another dog or general pre-approval instead*
