Story
Kato is a 7 month old puppy that was originally a rescue from Missouri, and for the last 5 months has been living in Minnesota with foster parents. He is part Red Heeler (Australian Cattle dog) but definitely has some other breeds in him as well. He is incredibly smart and loyal and quick to pick up commands, but he does have cattle dog tendencies around being territorial and weary of strangers (both dogs and people). He is still a puppy and loves to play tug, fetch, and tag. He knows a lot of commands and is kennel and house trained. He would thrive in a place where he has more room to run around outdoors and maybe has an older dog to help him understand behaviors better, and stop him from being "on guard" so often. He does not live with dogs, kids, or cats currently but has lived with dogs before. He does still have some herding tendencies and has nipped at few people he doesn't know in his space. But once he knows people he's generally playful with them.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB:  03/22/2017 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes, sometimes selective with small dogs Okay with cats: No, has prey drive Okay with children under 12 years old: Has done fine with kids 4+ that are respectful  Weight: 49 pounds Requires a fenced yard:  No,  with limited mobility he needs a special helper harness for his back end. A yard would give him the freedom to roam.  Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hello, my name is Galleta, and I am an incredibly handsome and happy adult Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix. Sure, I have limited feeling and movement in my hind legs, but I love life just the same! I mean not only do I have a wonderful wheelchair that allows me to run around but I also get to do about 10-15 minutes of physical therapy, stretches, & exercises every single day to help ensure my muscles don’t atrophy. Some people may not like doing a PT regimen, but I don’t mind it at all because it’s more quality time with my people. I would love to find a family that would also bring me to a chiropractor, acupuncturist, and even swimming!! Oh my gosh not only is playing fetch in the water is SOOOO much fun but I am an excellent swimmer! I do not like a lot of commotion and I’m a bit shy around new people especially if they get too close, but I love to be with MY people and I’m getting braver every day! I have a high prey drive so cats are probably not a good fit for me; I’m good with kids as long as they don't try and climb on me; and I do well with most other dogs although I can be a bit selective with small dogs. But mostly, I am easy going! I am a super smart boy who’s not only potty, crate, and leash trained but I know a bunch of commands like “down”, “kennel/crate”, “outside”, “wait”, and a release word “ok”.  Also, I have learned how to go up and down stairs! I can climb 3-4 steps of any surface on my own, and a full flight of carpeted stairs on my own if supervised. Sometimes I need a little help to get started if the landing is slippery like vinyl or hardwood. Ideally my forever home doesn't have a lot of stairs inside and going outside.  I am a happy, playful, and very loving boy who loves giving hugs, kisses, & snuggles, playing fetch in a huge yard, going to the dog park, playing with my toys, going for leashed walks, getting lots of belly rubs, and eating treats especially fruits & veggies! YUUUMMM!!! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I also love to practice Barn Hunt…I may not be able to compete, but I sure do have a great time practicing! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I am an incredibly sweet bundle of love who is simply looking for patience and unconditional love from a committed fur-ever family that not only will NEVER give up on me but who will help me continue my physical therapy routine and keep me safe. I promise that I am totally worth it, and I will love you more than you could EVER imagine! Love & snuggles, Galleta. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB:  09/09/2018 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Best with dogs her size or larger Okay with cats: No Okay with children under 12 years old: No Weight: 36 pounds Requires a fenced yard: No, but would love one to safely play Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Tacoma and I am a happy gal from Texas ready to find my forever home in Minnesota. I am an incredibly beautiful 3 year old Australian Cattle dog mix. I am a bit on the smaller size – so perfect for snuggling into a comfy dog bed! A little about me – I am deaf, but don’t let that stop me and am a very smart girl! I have picked up the routine in the house very quick. I also have a medical issue called “fly biting” – the vet discovered it is likely related to my diet. With a low carb diet and daily Prilosec, it is manageable. It might also be a bit anxiety based and/or habitual so when we meet my foster family can tell you about my routine and triggers. They think I would do best in a calm home. When I came up to Minnesota it was discovered I was heartworm positive. Now that those pesky bugs are gone, I'm a healthy girl, but need year round heartworm pills.   I would love to find a forever home with another dog that can help me stay on a routine and keep me busy. I am not a high energy dog but am a busy girl following my people and the other dogs around the house and yard. I don’t need a fenced yard since I am leash trained but would do best in a fenced yard to run and play in – or someone who can help me burn some energy out on walks, runs or teach me agility skills. I do try and play with the cats in my foster home, so if there are cats in my forever home they would need to be dog savvy and slowing introduced. If I didn’t have my foster sister to romp around and play with, I might be too interested in the cats and I don’t think they would enjoy how much fun I am. I love being around my people and following them around – they are helping me work on my manners like not jumping on people or bark at strangers. The barking doesn’t really bother me since I can’t hear it anyway. I am potty trained and crate trained. I live with a few other dogs and really enjoy the company of one in particular – she is a great buddy and we like to play together. Sometimes I do get into trouble, and it kinda makes my foster dad laugh, although he knows he shouldn’t. He says that I will pick up anything that isn’t nailed down – shoes, socks etc and carry it around – then my foster sister grabs the other end and the circus begins. Play time is great!! I love to be part of the action and would love to find a forever home that will love me unconditionally and help me be the best girl I can be! I know you will love me with all your heart, because I already love you! I hope to meet you soon! Story
Welcome Birdie to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 6-month-old dog. She is an Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie. She weighs about 30 pounds and considered a medium sized dog. She is smart and knows a lot of commands. She walks good on a leash, potty trained, good in a car, knows sit, knows trade (which) you can use to swap out what she has in her mouth with something else and a few more things. You can see the other commands in the video. We have them written on her paperwork. She is very smart and attentive. She calms down nicely and can work with some moderate distractions. She has been in foster care and the foster did a lot of work getting her ready. She would be fine in a home with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She would be best with an active outdoorsy family that wants a loveable companion to join their home. She would make a good walking companion for someone and due to her size would be able to do some brisk walking. She has the long beautiful coat of the border collie. She is looking for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, my name is Benji! I am a very handsome young adult male Mini Aussiedoodle who doesn’t like a lot of commotion, but I love to cuddle, and I prefer women. Truth is, I am highly sensitive and reactive to ‘stranger danger’! That’s right, I react to people approaching the front door, coming into the house, and even people approaching my kennel. I know…it’s not something I’m proud of but I’m working on it…really, I am!! In fact, foster mom is trying to help me associate new people (strangers) with positive outcomes and I am confident that I will be successful in time but for now it is still a work in progress. In the meantime, mom sometimes puts a muzzle on me and although it doesn’t bother me at all I prefer, of course, not to wear it so my new family will need to commit to working with me on training. Muzzle training may make me look scary, but it allows me to safely meet and work on my training so I can be happy!  After all, consistency, patience, loving encouragement, and LOTS of mental and physical stimulation are the keys to my success!!! I am good with older kids, cats, and other dogs; and my favorite activities include going on my daily leashed walks or car rides; hiking; exploring; eating treats like plain Greek yogurt or pumpkin; playing with small squeaky toys and other dogs; chewing on Benebones; and running zoomies in the yard so the yard at my new home will need to be fenced! Hee, hee!! I also hope to have a small, confident doggie companion who might help me overcome some of my anxiety about strangers!!! By the way, I almost forgot to mention that I am a prodigy…no, really! I know everything from how to do my business outside to a deluge of commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “wait”, “leave it”, “outside”, and “go potty”!! Thankfully, I enjoy learning, especially when I have a strong, confident, respectful leader, and I really love pleasing my people!! Anyway, foster mom says that I am the “most affectionate” dog she’s ever met and as hard as I try, I simply cannot disagree with her! Hee, hee!! All I need in my life now is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving forever family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will commit to helping me overcome my fears!! I promise that not only am I totally worth it, but I will enrich your life in ways you could never imagine!!! Love, Benji Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.   This dog has received grooming with us at Underdog Rescue, but was likely neglected of grooming attention until he came into our care.  It can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as Doodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment.  Adopters should be prepared for such expenses.  Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey there, wonderful humans - ready for a handsome boy? I'm Kiwi, the pint-sized dynamo with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Let me give you the lowdown on the awesomeness that is me: Picture this – shades of brown and cream, one ear perpetually popped up, and eyes that tell stories – one blue and one brown. Yep, that's me, a young Mini Aussie turning heads wherever I go! Now, here's the thing – they say I'm a bit hard of hearing, but I've got my own language. I have a slight hearing loss due to being born with hydrocephalus.  We think I can hear deeper sounds, but not higher pitches. Silent hand claps for applause (and belly rubs, of course), gentle taps on the ribs for attention, and some cool hand signals like thumbs up for SIT and a wave for "come on down." I'm mastering the art of communication!  I am sometimes a bit unsteady on my feet and circle around when stimulated - that's some of my hydrocephalus showing.  But, there are no long term needs known at this time.  I might have some uniqueness, but it makes me special! Life's a classroom, and I'm here to soak it all in. I do require a fenced yard in my forever home AND need to be leashed in the yard until I understand when my people want me to come inside. My people said when we go on walks, it is best for me to be double leashed as I am skittish and a flight risk. She says “Safety First” before we go outside. When I meet new people, I am a little nervous and need some time to warm up. There are so many new things to see and sniff, I get a little overwhelmed. I am always excited to go home play with my toys. I have Crocky, Bunny, Mousey, Ropey and Bully – I like toys that are tuff so I can chew and chase with them. We recently started playing frisbee – I understand the chase part and we are working on the return part – hee hee! Hopefully my forever family will keep practicing with me. My people said that I am growing and learning so much – they are calling them “light bulb moments” because you can actually see it when I am excited and understand something new. They said I would be a good candidate to try out agility, fly ball or rat hunting because I am a high energy dog with an active mind. Did I mention my love for food? It's basically everything, and I'm open to culinary adventures! Except chicken, that sometime gives me tummy rumbles – ick. Also, sometimes I get crabby if there is another dog around at mealtime, I would suggest that meals are served in a kennel. My people have a puzzle food toy that I LOVE, foster mom says it is a great way to help me slow down and focus at mealtimes. We are also working on kennel training. So far, I prefer a wire kennel over a plastic kennel. And foster mom has been letting me sleep in the bed. Although I tend to get into things so she keeps me on a leash, even during sleepy time! Again, safety first! Potty training is a work in progress, my people said I am a whirling dervish when nature calls – hee hee. I definitely have a “signal” if you are paying attention! Typical of my breed, I would thrive in a home that will keep my mind and body active, give me a job and keep me busy. I think obedience school or agility training would be a fantastic way to bond and learn new things. My people said that I am very smart and started counter surfing and exploring into things I shouldn’t, kinda like a toddler (hee hee) so they provide supervision and things for me to do. I may be a tiny tot, but I've got a big heart and a spirit ready for adventures. If you're up for teaching, loving, and navigating life together, let's make it happen! I'm here, ready to become the most awesome dog you've ever known.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    I’m new to this whole family atmosphere thing.  I’m still learning about all the things.  When I am not in my safe place (which may take me a little bit in my forever home) I am nervous and skittish.  But once I learn it’s a safe zone, I relax and let me sweet and loving nature come out. I’m still working hard at potty training, leash walking and the kennel.  I can tell you that I am NOT a kennel fan.  I’ll let you know all about it so probably best not to have shared walls.  I also need a fenced yard because I haven’t spent a lot of energy learning about leashes.  And I like playing with the resident dog.  Well, one of them because the senior dog here isn’t into playing.  I do need another dog in my forever home so I can learn to trust, get on a routine and a confident one to show me the ropes and play with.. I like playing with toys and stuffed animals when not playing with the other dog here.  There is even a cat who isn’t fond of me chasing it, but I think a dog savvy cat and a set of eyes on me, we could be friends. My foster mom wanted me to tell you how sweet and SUPER SMART I am.  But that I also have a fear about going outside. I am also afraid of most men. That’s where another confident dog could help me.  I’m getting better every day.  I have lots of puppy energy and am working on not getting into things.  If you are my person/family, I’d love to have you fill out an application and we can meet! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.
