Story
This 2-year-old mutt brightens every room he enters! Nitro is all about his humans, offering endless loyalty, snuggles, and wet kisses. At 55 pounds, he’s still a true lap dog at heart, and will always find a way to settle in close and rest his head in your hands. Even though he spent six long months at the shelter, Nitro has an unwavering trust in people. He is house-trained and quick to pick up on rules, so he settled into his foster home with ease. He has come a long way with his crate training. When his foster humans go to work, he settles into his crate nicely with a benebone and a peanut butter kong toy. At night, he goes right to bed now that his crate is next to other resident dogs’ crates. He's making great progress on his confidence and his attachment, so his future family just needs to have patience and consistency in mind. Nitro picks up new manners and skills VERY quickly. We have been working on teaching the “wait” command to build door manners and he’s made significant strides with this, especially when it comes to duration. We are able to put him in a “sit / wait” while placing his meal on the floor and before going through any doors, and he waits several seconds for a release command. He already knows all basic commands and would be a great candidate for continued training in obedience or a sport!Originally believed to be a Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix, Nitro has traits of Black Mouth Cur as well. He’s high-energy and thrives on long daily walks and plenty of activity, but he’s equally content to relax indoors as long as he’s near his people. As long as he gets his daily exercise in, he has no issues with behavior or house manners. He could easily be left out to free roam in the house should his future family choose. He’s proven to be a social and playful dog, doing well with dogs of all sizes. Nitro’s playful side comes alive when he’s chasing toys or playing games of keep-away with his foster brother, always with a big smile on his face. While he hasn’t been around cats yet, his gentle demeanor suggests he could adjust with proper introductions. Nitro has also done really well with small children (3 and 4). In fact, he would probably love to be in a family with kids. He gave them lots of kisses and took treats gently. When they were playing and running around, he wanted to be right in the middle of the play. He even let our nephew stack toys on his back and played tug with him.Whether you’re heading out for a walk or curling up on the couch, Nitro is ready to be your loyal and loving friend! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

To apply for a dog from All Dog Rescue, please fill out our online application at www.AllDogMN.org.  All Dog Rescue only adopts to homes within 60-miles of the Twin Cities. Visit our FAQ page to learn why. Hey, wonderful humans! It's me, Deuce, the 6-month-old pup who's ready to steal your heart (and very likely a few sticks from the yard). I love spending my days playing, going on adventures and expanding my horizons with my humans, and searching the yard for sticks to chew on. When I'm all tuckered out, I am a big fan of naps and snuggling!I've been busy working on house training, and I'm nearly there, so you won't have too many messes to clean up. I also have been having a blast learning new things, especially since I found out there are treats involved... YUM!At doggy daycare, I'm a staff favorite and I love playing with other dogs. I'm looking forward to finding a forever home with an older dog who can help me build my confidence, help guide me, and of course, be my friend. And since I'm not quite ready to share my forever home with young kids just yet, I'm looking for a home with just grown-ups for now. That's me in a nutshell and I look forward to finding my forever family soon! Deuce's adoption fee is $550, which includes vet exam, age appropriate vaccinations and tests, microchip, and spay or neuter. Please note we only accept cash or checks-no credit cards.October 25, 2024, 12:26 pm

Story
Gigi is a beautiful brindle love bug! Her ancestry is primarily Australian Cattle Dog, which makes sense because she's loyal, trainable, very smart, and wants to please. She's affectionate, active, playful, cuddly, gets along well with other dogs, and is an EXCELLENT swimmer. I've taken her paddle-boarding several times and she sometimes preferred swimming alongside me, rather than staying on the board! She trains well with repetition and picks up commands quite well because I secretly think she thinks she's human. The "head tilt" when she doesn't understand a new word is hilarious. She would do well in a home with a yard and an active playmate as she is very playful and loves to jump around with her bestie, playing tag, chase, and tug. She has many charming, inherent tools to convince a playmate to play or her caregiver to give her some love. She's an excellent saleswoman and usually gets her way, thanks to her adorably sincere eyes/demeanor and gives as much as she gets. Gigi is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and is in excellent health. She would be great in an active home with another dog or kids (as long as they're big enough to not accidentally get knocked over by her excitement). She's never been around cats, but I suspect she'd want to play, so it would likely depend on the cat's personality. She's house trained, uses a doggie door, know sit, shake, other hand shake, is an excellent catch by mouth with tossed treats, and we're working on "stay" and "off". Gigi is estimated to be two years old and 35 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. This animal is a Courtesy Listing. This animal resides with his or her current owner and if you are interested in potentially giving this animal a home you must contact them at fvokovan@gmail.com. Placement decisions are strictly between you and the current owner. Safe Hands Rescue does not have legal or physical custody of this animal and is not responsible for him or her.

Story
Vinnie is an incredible boy!! He’s so happy, sweet and friendly! He loves playing with other dogs and can literally play with toys by himself for hours. He really likes to jump on the sofa, lay on his back, put his head in your lap and soak up love. He is respectful of other dogs and their wishes and he'll play if they will, and will be polite if they would rather not. He enjoys spending time with a person and getting some pets and scratches in too. He’s potty trained and runs joyfully outside to play and explore. Vinnie would really like a home with another dog and a big fenced yard to run and run and run. If you meet Vinnie, you will fall in love. Vinnie is estimated to be 2 years old and 42 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. Story
Asher will be 3 in April. We purchased him at 8 weeks old through puppies.com. Our 6 kids range from 8-18 years old. Asher does well with kids, our 5 year old Rottweiler and 7 chickens. Due to recent financial changes, as well as increased commitments outside of the house, we have found that we are unable to invest the time and energy he needs and deserves and would like to find him another family that can offer him that. He has a lot of energy and a lot of affection to give. He could be classified as a "velcro" dog. He is an agile dog, loves to run, jump and play. He is eager to please and responds to training with great eagerness. We have barely tapped the surface of his abilities. He has a tendency to be anxious/nervous. He does get carsick within a few minutes of a drive. He is a guard dog and barks at incomers/strangers.

Story
Admiral and his two siblings were part of a dramatic rescue that is described with words and pictures here. We included a picture of admiral the day he was rescued. Copy and paste this in your browser. https://docs.google.com/document/d/17_OMYLUjJqXfGH0MgotuP7GgMOPNCCvEWrKZS2OsIYg/edit Making a long story short, 4 puppies were apparently dumped in a remote area where there was no obvious source of food, water or shelter. A Good Samaritan worked over a period of days to rescue three of them. Admiral was injured and needed immediate vet care, the other two needed a warm place to sleep and full food and water bowls. After bringing the three in from the cold they stayed in temporary foster homes until we could transport them to PUP in Saint Paul. Admiral is now healthy, at a good weight, and learning to be a real puppy. You can still see the results of his injuries, but they are well healed, now he just needs to grow some hair where it was shaved. He is the most outgoing of the trio and is playing happily with his siblings and the resident pooches. He is happy in his new environment but still needs work to develop trust with humans. He really wants human interaction but it is a bit scary. He has made amazing progress since his rescue in late December. The vet aged Admiral at about 15 weeks and he weighs 12#, so we expect his adult weight will be between 45-55#. We think he might be a Kelpie/German Shepherd X but that is best guess. 45-55# would be a bit big for a Kelpie, a common herding dog in the area, and small for a Shepherd, so that is probably about right. When we do DNA testing on most dogs from the area they have 20 or more breeds in their heritage. They always have some herding dog, some shepherd, some lab and nearly always some Chihuahua. We expect the same is true of Admiral. Now here is a strange one. Admiral is the smallest of the trio, but he has double rear dew claws. Only 6 purebred dogs have double rear dews and they are all giant dogs. We suspect Admiral might have 2-3% Great Pyrenees in his genetics. All three pups have unusually short tails. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Because of Heath’s background, the need to work on socialization can not be overstate. But, face it. That is the fun part. Admiral has been vet checked, vaccinated including rabies and de-wormed. He will need at least one additional puppy vaccination at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
