Story
This 1.5-year-old cattle dog mix is a bundle of love! At 55 pounds, Jenkins is happy cuddling on the couch with his head in your lap or entertaining himself with toys. He is a low-maintenance, easygoing pup ready to bring joy to his forever family.Jenkins is fully house-trained and makes a great roommate! He knows the difference between dog toys and people things—so no chewing on your shoes with this guy. He can be trusted to be home alone and is very polite around food, though he might sniff around to check out what’s cooking. He’s also crate-trained and sleeps peacefully in his crate at night or whenever he needs a break. While Jenkins barks occasionally as a part-time watchdog, he’s easily calmed and makes a fantastic home office coworker, quietly napping through virtual meetings. He previously lived in a townhouse without issue, making him a good fit for various living situations.Jenkins will easily adjust to new friends if given a little help! At his foster home, Jenkins has greatly benefited from his confident canine sibling who can help him feel secure and teach him the ropes. He loves to chase, wrestle, and play tug with other dogs, but is still learning to share his toys and space. While Jenkins hasn’t had extensive experience with children, he’s greeted kids at the bus stop with polite curiosity. A meet-and-greet would help determine compatibility with potential human siblings. Cats, however, are a definite no-go for Jenkins. Living with a cat causes him significant anxiety, so a cat-free home is a must for his happiness and well-being. Jenkins thrives on a mix of activity and relaxation. A morning walk, some toy time, and play sessions with a doggy sibling are enough to keep him happy. If he’s an only dog, two short walks a day or some yard time would suit him perfectly. He’s not prone to zoomies but has bursts of playful energy that are fun to watch. Jenkins loves toys—especially ones he can chew or tug—and enjoys chasing balls or being chased while carrying one. His adorable habit of pouncing on toys will keep you smiling, and his independent playtime shows his ability to entertain himself when needed.Jenkins came from a loving family who helped him become the confident, affectionate dog he is today. He’s trusting, sweet-natured, and eager to bond with his new family. Could Jenkins be your perfect match? If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and adaptable dog who will adore you endlessly, Jenkins might just be the one! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

**Meet Stoney!** Stoney is a unique 4-year-old, 49-pound mix of 18 different breeds—a true one-of-a-kind mutt! He was returned to our care after his handicapped owner passed away. Stoney is a well-trained, loving dog who is potty trained, crate trained, and knows several commands. He walks beautifully on a leash and would thrive as the only dog in a quiet home with a single person. While he gets along well with most alpha female dogs, Stoney is best suited as a solo pet. He’s a little overweight right now, but with a bit of exercise and attention, he’ll be back to his healthy weight in no time. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to share your calm and quiet space, Stoney could be the perfect fit for you!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
In the spring of 2023, we got a call about 4 dogs who were in bad shape and living in the woods a couple of hours from me. We set traps and were able to rescue 2 of the 4. We tried and tried to get the other 2, but we were unable to do so. Some of the local people continued to try to get them, as well, but couldn’t. I am still very sad about having to leave them behind. Chester and Chloe were near death when we rescued them. They were starving, their skin was horrible, and of course, they had every known parasite. They are healthy now. Chloe is still very shy, and I feel that she needs a special home with a lot of love, patience and attention! We do not see any aggression in her. She has been at Blue Ribbon Kennels now for 14 months and needs a forever and loving home so badly. She has never had the opportunity to live inside a house and to be part of a family. Chloe is in Mississippi. When adopted, she will come fully vetted and will be transported by Rescue Riders, a very reliable transporter. All of this is included in her adoption fee.

Nana has been in foster care with a MARS staff member since Aug 2021. During this time Nana has been working on all her life skills, with the help of our trainer.  At her annual exam on 6/7/22 she tested positive for heartworm. She went through heartworm treatment with flying colors. She has been retested for heartworm and is now negative. She needs to remain on monthly heartworm prevention, year round, for the rest of her life. Nana came to MARS with some significant fear based reactivity, stranger danger and trust issues. With the dedication of her foster and trainer she has improved dramatically and is ready to find her FOREVER home.  Nana will need to continue using these newly mastered life skills in her new home with a calm and confident human leader. MARS will provide training with her adopter during the transition.  While Nana is able to live in a townhome she would do best without shared walls as she does get vocal when she hears the door bell, loud noises, sees dogs or sees/hears people outside. Nana would LOVE a home with a big fenced yard that she can safely run around and have the zoomies. She loves to chill outside during the warm months! Once you are one of her trusted people she is sweet and cuddly and just wants to be with you. She would prefer to be the only pet in her new home.   If you are interested in learning more about Nana please complete an application! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
This is Banjo! He’s a Husky born 8/27/22. Banjo is a sweet & smart dog, who does great with other dogs, loves toys & shows no issues towards adults or children.  He craves attention & interaction. He has been around dogs of all sizes & cats, even though he did bark at cats. He is learning to walk on a leash. Since he doesn't have a lot of confidence, should be tethered carefully outside of a fenced yard, as he doesn't always come when called.  He only barks when other dogs bark. Banjo has been submissive to senior dogs. He is not highly food or treat motivated, so training to come inside or go into the kennel is a work in progress. Once in his kennel, he does very well & sleeps quietly all night. He does well in the car too! An active family would be the best for this young man, who still has much to learn & is eager to please! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm
