Story
Hello! I’m Maliki Chibul and I’m one hot mess. Typical story here adopted as a puppy and returned when I became a misunderstood, out of control adult. I’m a herding breed mix with herding breed instincts. I’m mouthy, bark obsessively, and can top the charts in whining. What I love to do in my foster home is play with the resident dog who happens to be my litter mate. He’s teaching me how to dog as I lack confidence. Truth be told, I’m almost scared of my own shadow. I don’t know if it’s okay to meet new people, new dogs, and don’t get me started on new situations, because they confound me. With a calm dog by my side, I’m learning to greet new people and situations without growling and being afraid. Once I’m comfortable with you I’ll jump on you and I’ll hold your arm in my mouth. Children, well, I love to lick them in the face. Cats, on the other hand, I want to play with them especially if they are indoor cats. What I need: Someone who doesn’t mind me getting into their socks especially the dirty ones. Someone to let me carry stuffies around, monitor me with them, and sew them back together again. Someone to help me build my confidence so I don’t submissively potty and stress eliminate. A calm dog to teach me how to be a confident pleasant dog. An owner who is dedicated and willing to spend the time and effort on me. If I sound like the young dog of your dreams, my adoption fee is $350 and I’m available at campcompanion.org.

Story
Hi, I’m Olive. I’m a little unsure of the world right now, as I have had a bit of a rough start. I wasn’t always treated the best and I’m wary of new people and places. Once I figure out I’m comfortable though, then my personality really starts to shine through! I LOVE playing fetch and could do it for hours. I also think I’d like to be pretty active. Right now I move around my foster home a lot, and they think I’d enjoy long walks in my forever home. I also greatly enjoy butt scratches and playing with my furry foster siblings. I’m not sure how I’d do around smaller humans, but I’m guessing super young ones might scare me with their noises and sudden movements! I love following my foster folks around EVERYWHERE. Where they go, I go! So I hope you like company if you’re thinking of adopting me! I do well in my kennel as needed, although I can sometimes use some coaxing to go in right away, as I like to run around the house and explore! Playtime is the best time! I think I’ll be happiest in a calm, but active home where the folks are willing to be patient and supportive with me. I’m a really good girl, I’ll just need someone who is willing to train and be consistent with me. Apply at campcompanion.org. Adoption fee is $350 plus tax.

Story
Meet Theodorah (Thea)Age: 9 yearsBreed: American Blue Heeler mixSex: Female (spayed)Theodorah—affectionately called Thea—is a devoted and intelligent Blue Heeler mix with a heart as big as her loyalty. This beautiful girl has spent the past four years with a loving family after being adopted from another Humane Society, but is now looking for a new home due to a move and difficult personal circumstances.Thea is crate-trained, active, and protective of her people—especially children. She previously lived with kids under 10 and was incredibly loving and “super protective” of them. She’s good with cats and can tolerate other dogs, though she tends to prefer a quieter space without too much canine commotion.Thea knows her commands—sit, lay down, speak, and even gives hugs on command! She’s food-motivated and does best in a structured environment. During thunderstorms or fireworks, she can become anxious, so her former family would gently crate her beforehand to help her feel secure.Thea would thrive in a home where she has structure, affection, and someone to bond deeply with. She’s not a fan of being left alone, as she’s been known to rummage through garbage and chew on doors in search of company. She’ll reward your love with unwavering loyalty and quiet cuddles.$350 adoption fee plus $30 microchip fee plus tax.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Blu is a 6 year old red heeler who came to the shelter as an owner surrender in Oct., 2021. He's a quirky and fun loving dog who lived a life without any real boundaries or training before he came to us. Because of this, it took quite a while for him to settle in and become the happy goofball that we know and love. What a personality! He has finally been fully vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125.  FENCED YARD NEEDED Blu needs a home that is experienced with herding type breeds like him. They are not a dog for all people. On the positive side Blu is intelligent, fun loving, highly trainable, and incredibly loyal. Like a lot of herding breed types he's also laser focused on what he wants and is somewhat stubborn. He likes to be kept busy and enjoys a consistent routine. He needs an adult only home and would prefer one without other animals. Teens are fine. NOT a dog for apartment living. He enjoys car rides, too, as long as the destination is not the vet's office. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please keep an eye on your emails after you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 10:55 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lyra is about 2 years old and looks to be a shepherd/heeler type mix. She was found running loose, held for the LEGAL stray hold, and never claimed. She is very shy but becomes very loyal and loving companion once she's comfortable and secure. Lyra has been vet checked, spayed, chipped, and her fee is $150. Lyra has been adopted a couple of times and returned as she just hasn't been able to find the right fit yet. She is incredibly smart and learns quickly. However she does possess quite a few of the intense traits of a herding breed type dog. She is laser focused and needs both mental and physical exercise. She would love to have some type of job to do and would probably be a great candidate for agility training. She does tend to bond quite closely to one or two people and can be protective and territorial. Lyra needs an ADULT only home. She needs someone who is experience with herding breed types and their quirky personalities. She would love a home that is ready, willing, and able to continue with her training and helping her gain confidence. Lyra has done well with well mannered MALE dogs who respect her space. She does enjoy playing with other dogs once she's comfortable. Cats? Most likely a no. Cuddling is one of her favorite things. She's also in need of a home in which she won't be left alone for long hours. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucky came to us as an owner surrender in March 2023. He was very shy when he first came to us so we didn't place him up for adoption right away. His former owners loved him but they never really let him do "normal" dog things. Lucky had never eaten dog food or even eaten out of a dish when he came to us! Our volunteers have worked really hard with him and he's now blossomed into a fun loving dog who loves to play and has learned how to "dog". He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee of $150 is being sponsored by one of our volunteers. Lucky is looking for a very patient and experienced home. He's still shy with new people but has learned to overcome it a lot faster. He is a mix of two very smart and active breeds, both of which are known for keeping people on their toes. Lucky exemplifies both breeds with his energy level and his sometimes frustrating enjoyment of teasing and pushing the ol' envelope. It's all in good fun for him and you can almost see him laughing. He's a goober who loves to play but will settle in for some snuggling and hugs. A FENCED YARD is required for Lucky. His leash skills aren't the greatest yet so a fence will help to keep him secure. He does require some basic training in all areas but loves to learn and makes it a fun experience. An adult only home would be best (teens are fine). He LOVES the companionship of other dogs. Cats are most likely a no for him given his breed mix. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.
