Nana has been in foster care with a MARS staff member since Aug 2021. During this time Nana has been working on all her life skills, with the help of our trainer.  At her annual exam on 6/7/22 she tested positive for heartworm. She went through heartworm treatment with flying colors. She has been retested for heartworm and is now negative. She needs to remain on monthly heartworm prevention, year round, for the rest of her life. Nana came to MARS with some significant fear based reactivity, stranger danger and trust issues. With the dedication of her foster and trainer she has improved dramatically and is ready to find her FOREVER home.  Nana will need to continue using these newly mastered life skills in her new home with a calm and confident human leader. MARS will provide training with her adopter during the transition.  While Nana is able to live in a townhome she would do best without shared walls as she does get vocal when she hears the door bell, loud noises, sees dogs or sees/hears people outside. This is Banjo! He’s a Husky born 8/27/22. Banjo is a sweet & smart dog, who does great with other dogs, loves toys & shows no issues towards adults or children.  He craves attention & interaction. He has been around dogs of all sizes & cats, even though he did bark at cats. He is learning to walk on a leash. Since he doesn't have a lot of confidence, should be tethered carefully outside of a fenced yard, as he doesn't always come when called.  He only barks when other dogs bark. Banjo has been submissive to senior dogs. He is not highly food or treat motivated, so training to come inside or go into the kennel is a work in progress. Once in his kennel, he does very well & sleeps quietly all night. He does well in the car too! An active family would be the best for this young man, who still has much to learn & is eager to please! Hi! I’m Spankie, a Cattle Dog mix pup born in approximately January of 2024.   I came to Minnesota from Arkansas on 10/20/24 and am really loving the adventure of meeting new people and going to new places. I’m always happy, in fact my tail is almost always wagging as I roam around! I also LOVE belly rubs. I’m curious and playful and love to play with other dogs. My foster dog sister and I love to wrestle! I also like my human foster siblings (9 & 11) a lot and I have been around cats previously and don’t have any issues with them. I understand basic commands such as sit, wait, coming when called (if I’m not distracted by excitement) and am eager to learn more every day! I’m doing really well on my potty training and am almost fully trained! I sleep in my crate while my foster family is gone and at night, and I’m really comfortable in it. I sleep through the night quietly and wake up excited to take on the world for another day! I love going for walks and car rides. I have been doing super well walking nicely on a leash. I get really excited when I see a squirrel, I’m curious about them! One of my favorite activities is to sit by the window and watch outside. I see all of the leaves blowing in the wind and the squirrels and neighbors walking by. At the end of the day, my favorite thing to do is snuggle with my foster family on the couch. I’m a super fun and lovable boy who is so excited to meet my forever family! My name is Honolulu, but foster mom calls me Loki Dokey or Lulu. I am so excited to meet you! I cam up from Mississippi with my mom, Graceland, and two brothers (one already adopted). I am currently about 15 lbs., and foster mom estimates me to be around 35-40 lbs as an adult. The perfect size she says! What you will love about me is my beautiful coloring and the smile that never leaves my face!   I am a fun and frisky little boy, and love other dogs. I currently live with three resident dogs; a 1.5 year old Great Pyrenees mix, a 5 year old Pittie mix, and a 10 year old Lab mix. I am learning so much from them now that I am the only puppy in the house. Foster mom is amazed at how calmly and quickly I was able to integrate with the other dogs. I know she appreciates that I don’t come in “hot,” but take my time to really get to know them before the playtime begins. I love playing with the resident dogs, and cuddling for naptime with the Pittie mix. I would love to have a doggy sibling so we can play chase and tug!   We are working on some training, but I have been learning a lot from the resident dogs. I am mostly potty trained, which is pretty good for my young age. On a consistent schedule, I don’t have accidents in the house! I am also comfortable in a kennel, and sometimes just go rest in there. We have already worked a lot on impulse control and have already shown progress in waiting patiently for food/treats and decreasing the jumping behaviors. I have a pretty good sit’s and am working on a few other things, but as a puppy, we are taking it slow. It helps that my foster mom is a professional dog trainer and is super patient with my learning process. I have been walking pretty good on a leash for a puppy, but will still need some work on that one. When in doubt, a quick “uh uh” will stop me and get my attention. Finally, I am very treat motivated so am super easy to train!   I love people! I will give you a big smile and a wiggle butt and be your best friend after a few treats as a hello. I really want to please my human(s) and am trying really hard to make the best decisions! So make sure to reward me when I make good decisions. Foster mom says I am a very typical doggy puppy, and it just takes some patience and good boundaries. More than anything, I am working on building my confidence, which means foster mom gives me so many news things and new sounds and then lets me know how awesome I am. In the spring of 2023, we got a call about 4 dogs who were in bad shape and living in the woods a couple of hours from me. We set traps and were able to rescue 2 of the 4. We tried and tried to get the other 2, but we were unable to do so. Some of the local people continued to try to get them, as well, but couldn’t. I am still very sad about having to leave them behind. Chester and Chloe were near death when we rescued them. They were starving, their skin was horrible, and of course, they had every known parasite. They are healthy now. Chloe is still very shy, and I feel that she needs a special home with a lot of love, patience and attention! We do not see any aggression in her. She has been at Blue Ribbon Kennels now for 14 months and needs a forever and loving home so badly. She has never had the opportunity to live inside a house and to be part of a family. Chloe is in Mississippi. When adopted, she will come fully vetted and will be transported by Rescue Riders, a very reliable transporter. All of this is included in her adoption fee.

Sure, I have limited feeling and movement in my hind legs, but I love life just the same! I mean not only do I have a wonderful wheelchair that allows me to run around but I also get to do about 10-15 minutes of physical therapy, stretches, & exercises every single day to help ensure my muscles don’t atrophy. Some people may not like doing a PT regimen, but I don’t mind it at all because it’s more quality time with my people. I would love to find a family that would also bring me to a chiropractor, acupuncturist, and even swimming!! Oh my gosh not only is playing fetch in the water is SOOOO much fun but I am an excellent swimmer! I do not like a lot of commotion and I’m a bit shy around new people especially if they get too close, but I love to be with MY people and I’m getting braver every day! I have a high prey drive so cats are probably not a good fit for me; I’m good with kids as long as they don't try and climb on me; and I do well with most other dogs although I can be a bit selective with small dogs. But mostly, I am easy going! I am a super smart boy who’s not only potty, crate, and leash trained but I know a bunch of commands like “down”, “kennel/crate”, “outside”, “wait”, and a release word “ok”.  Also, I have learned how to go up and down stairs! I can climb 3-4 steps of any surface on my own, and a full flight of carpeted stairs on my own if supervised. Sometimes I need a little help to get started if the landing is slippery like vinyl or hardwood. Ideally my forever home doesn't have a lot of stairs inside and going outside.  I am a happy, playful, and very loving boy who loves giving hugs, kisses, & snuggles, playing fetch in a huge yard, going to the dog park, playing with my toys, going for leashed walks, getting lots of belly rubs, and eating treats especially fruits & veggies! YUUUMMM!!! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I also love to practice Barn Hunt…I may not be able to compete, but I sure do have a great time practicing! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I am an incredibly sweet bundle of love who is simply looking for patience and unconditional love from a committed fur-ever family that not only will NEVER give up on me but who will help me continue my physical therapy routine and keep me safe. I am an incredibly beautiful 3 year old Australian Cattle dog mix. I am a bit on the smaller size – so perfect for snuggling into a comfy dog bed! A little about me – I am deaf, but don’t let that stop me and am a very smart girl! I have picked up the routine in the house very quick. I also have a medical issue called “fly biting” – the vet discovered it is likely related to my diet. With a low carb diet and daily Prilosec, it is manageable. It might also be a bit anxiety based and/or habitual so when we meet my foster family can tell you about my routine and triggers. They think I would do best in a calm home. When I came up to Minnesota it was discovered I was heartworm positive. Now that those pesky bugs are gone, I'm a healthy girl, but need year round heartworm pills.   I would love to find a forever home with another dog that can help me stay on a routine and keep me busy. I am not a high energy dog but am a busy girl following my people and the other dogs around the house and yard. I don’t need a fenced yard since I am leash trained but would do best in a fenced yard to run and play in – or someone who can help me burn some energy out on walks, runs or teach me agility skills. I do try and play with the cats in my foster home, so if there are cats in my forever home they would need to be dog savvy and slowing introduced. If I didn’t have my foster sister to romp around and play with, I might be too interested in the cats and I don’t think they would enjoy how much fun I am. I love being around my people and following them around – they are helping me work on my manners like not jumping on people or bark at strangers. The barking doesn’t really bother me since I can’t hear it anyway. I am potty trained and crate trained. I live with a few other dogs and really enjoy the company of one in particular – she is a great buddy and we like to play together. Sometimes I do get into trouble, and it kinda makes my foster dad laugh, although he knows he shouldn’t. He says that I will pick up anything that isn’t nailed down – shoes, socks etc and carry it around – then my foster sister grabs the other end and the circus begins. Play time is great!! I love to be part of the action and would love to find a forever home that will love me unconditionally and help me be the best girl I can be! Welcome Birdie to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 6-month-old dog. She is an Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie. She weighs about 30 pounds and considered a medium sized dog. She is smart and knows a lot of commands. She walks good on a leash, potty trained, good in a car, knows sit, knows trade (which) you can use to swap out what she has in her mouth with something else and a few more things. You can see the other commands in the video. We have them written on her paperwork. She is very smart and attentive. She calms down nicely and can work with some moderate distractions. She has been in foster care and the foster did a lot of work getting her ready. She would be fine in a home with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She would be best with an active outdoorsy family that wants a loveable companion to join their home. She would make a good walking companion for someone and due to her size would be able to do some brisk walking. She has the long beautiful coat of the border collie. She is looking for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. She takes time to warm up to people, but once she does, she cannot get enough belly rubs and snuggles. Until she feels comfortable, she will “alert bark” at strangers and does not want to be approached, unless it is on her terms. But… be ready for a complete 180. Displaying kindness and patience in the first few weeks will pay off in a lifetime of affection and adoration from this lovable girl. Before you know it, you will have a snuggle buddy and loving companion. She has begun occasionally letting a gentle stranger pet her, but it takes calm encouragement from the person she trusts. With consistency and support, she should greatly improve in this area. She went from being fearful of foster mom’s boyfriend to wanting belly rubs from him, within a few visits. She loves car rides, naps in the yard, trips to the dog park, walks, and any other adventures. She would probably be a happy boating dog. She may also enjoy agility or another active sport.  Peggy Lee is crate trained! After a few mournful moments as foster mom leaves for work, she settles down in the crate, much easier than when she’s left loose in the house. She will voluntarily choose to hang out in her crate even with the door wide open. But she wants to be near her people and part of the family. Peggy Lee has so much affection to give. She wants nothing more than to love and be loved. She is easy to train, when done in a loving way. Peggy learned sit, lay down, and “paw” (to shake) in just a few days. When I tell her she’s a good girl, her tail just thumps on the floor in pure happiness. She entertains herself with chew toys and loves a good squeaker. Peggy Lee sleeps soundly at night in her dog bed on the floor, although she would be happy be with her human in the bed as well. Hi, I’m Moose! I’m a herding breed mix of some kind born 10/7/23!   I am very energetic and always looking to play. I’m even good at playing by myself with my toys!  I’m friendly with everyone - adults, kids, dogs of all sizes, and cats.  Any person I meet immediately becomes my best friend!  I bark sometimes when other dogs are playing rambunctiously or when I get scared.  I like to make my foster mom laugh by talking back to her when she tells me to be quiet.  I typically prefer to be cuddled up with my people.  I am potty trained and can go several hours without an accident (while my foster mom is at work).  I sleep in my crate, and I am quiet at night.  I’ve mastered leash walking but want to sniff EVERYTHING on my walks and also will try to chase squirrels.  If you’re interested in meeting me, let me know!  I’d love to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Jenny is a mini Aussie born 4/17/21. She lives with Jackie Too who is also a mini Aussie. They are best buddies and like to cuddle each other. Jackie Too is also Jenny’s protector. When I began fostering Jenny she was scared/shy and would hide. She is slowly coming out of her shell and will now cuddle and come to you to get attention. She does get scared easily and will retract back to hiding. She is not aggressive at all and you are able to pick her up if need be. She is working on potty training and using pee pads when not able to get outside. She does well in the kennel overnight or when I’m at work and she will let you know when she’s ready to get out. She is good with my 5 year old son. She is good with my German Shepherd and likes to bark at him. She prefers to play with her foster buddy Jackie Too. Jenny is not good with sudden movements as it makes her retract back to being scared. It makes it hard to walk her on leash with her being scared she pulls back. She has done well on a tie out except when it’s time to come in. I usually have to pick her up. She has been on two car rides. The first time she did well. She was in a kennel with Jackie Too. The second was not in a kennel on her way to the vet and she ended up throwing up. Jenny will look away if you look at her and seems to have a calm personality. However when it’s playtime she can have a high energy level. Jenny enjoys sleeping/cuddling with Jackie Too. She enjoys cuddles/belly rubs on her terms. She also loves playing with Jackie Too. She likes toys and I call her a secret chewer because she is sneaky at tracing things and you wouldn’t know it was her until you catch her in the act. She’s left alone for 8 hours Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and 11 hours every other weekend. She does well in the kennel and is excited to see you when you get home. There have been times where she barks/whines before you leave and when you get home.
