HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet her, please email fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- Great dog with tons of potential who is looking for a special family who will continue working with her to help her gain confidence and learn that life is full of great things!- Came from an environment where she did not get the normal socialization most puppies get, so new people, places and things can still be scary for her- Has been making progress in her foster home and it has been wonderful to see her gradually open up; we've found she loves predictability and routine- Enjoys chewing on Nylabone-type toys and playing with stuffies and squeaky toys; also likes curling up in a comfy chair or relaxing on the porch- Has become fast friends with the dogs in her foster home and loves to play with them; really lights up around other dogs and we highly recommend that she go to a home with another friendly dog she can learn from and draw confidence from- A real follower who wants to be where everyone else is; no matter where her foster family and their dogs are she'll be there- Has struggled with non-carpeted floors, so her foster family has put down rugs for her; initially was reluctant to climb stairs or go down hallways but has become comfortable with that over time; may still need patience as she adjusts to a new home- Likes to be petted by those she knows, but is still hesitant about fast approaches and initial contact; her foster family makes a point to pet her any time they walk past her, and she has become much more comfortable - even booping them with her nose if they don't pet her right away in the morning- Needs time to get to know new people and may not want to interact initially, but her foster family has found that when they have guests over she gradually becomes comfortable with them- Arrived with no leash experience, and leashes are still very confusing and uncomfortable for her, so she will need continued help with this over time; at this point in her life she probably needs a home with a fenced yard where she can go directly out to potty without having to be leashed- Is a very easy house dog who has been perfect with potty training and has never had an accident; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine- Looking for a predictable home with very patient people who understand it will take time for her to settle in; it will be rewarding to gain her trust and watch her blossom! The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and describe our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Tan Weight: 56.1 Age: 3yrs 4mths 1wks

With a calm and chill demeanor, Lieutenant is the perfect low-energy companion for anyone looking for a relaxed, friendly dog. He’s heartworm negative and gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, making him an excellent addition to any home. He was saved at the last minute from being euthanized in a crowded kill shelter.Lieutenant loves belly rubs and is a total snuggle bug. He’s also well-behaved, sitting on command and never jumping up on people. Lieutenant absolutely adores human company and is sure to win your heart with his gentle nature. Story
**Meet Stoney!** Stoney is a unique 4-year-old, 49-pound mix of 18 different breeds—a true one-of-a-kind mutt! He was returned to our care after his handicapped owner passed away. Stoney is a well-trained, loving dog who is potty trained, crate trained, and knows several commands. He walks beautifully on a leash and would thrive as the only dog in a quiet home with a single person. While he gets along well with most alpha female dogs, Stoney is best suited as a solo pet. He’s a little overweight right now, but with a bit of exercise and attention, he’ll be back to his healthy weight in no time. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to share your calm and quiet space, Stoney could be the perfect fit for you!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. In a world of fur and joy, there's a Heeler named Brownie, oh so coy, With fur as red as autumn leaves, he's the cleverest of canine thieves. At two, he's full of boundless glee, a furry friend for you and me. Smart as a whip, this Heeler boy, his heart's a treasure, a boundless joy. Attuned to you, his person dear, his love's a bond that's crystal clear. Bestest friend, he aims to be, beside you through eternity. He dreams of walks and treats galore, his heart, your love, forevermore. Brownie, the Heeler, red and bright, a canine star, a pure delight. In fields of green and skies so blue, he'll be the bestest friend to you. Brownie has the desire to be with his person and would make a great and loving support dog or full time companion.
