Good with cats,
Story
He’s a sweet cat. About 10 months old and a little bit shy. He’s kind of skittish with new people, but he has no history of aggression or violence. He also enjoys climbing trees but has a hard time getting down from them, so I would not let him outside.

Story
What's that rumble? Oh, it's Bumble! This playful boy loves to chase his ball around and be a wild cat. A rough and rowdy player, Bumble would do well with the company of another young and playful cat (for him to stalk and surprise!) or oppositely, an old, relaxed cat who won't mind his antics. Two years old and full of beans, he can't be picked up, needs his own space and will tell you, "No thank you" but far less politely. However, if you want to drag a string or feather around or throw his ball than he'll happily spend all day with you. Bumble is neutered and current on all shots, ready for his new home. If you've got room in your heart for an energetic wild-man who plays by his own rules and requires you follow them too, then take a chance on Bumble and make your appointment to meet him today. He is not the biggest fan of other cats, and does not like dogs, but he loves the attention he gets from people. Bumble is a 2-year-old neutered male For more information on Bumble, call AWS at 860-354-1350 email animalwelfare.socty@snet.net or visit our website aws-shelter.org for an application Adoption Fees for Senior cats (8yrs and up) is $50 Adult Cats $200 and Kittens under a year $250.

Story
Meet Eleanor, a stunning 10-year-old tabby with a gentle heart and a longing for a quiet, loving home. Her journey hasn’t been easy—after her male owner passed away and her female owner moved into assisted living, Eleanor and six other cats found themselves at the shelter. The sudden loss of her family left Eleanor feeling shut down and heartbroken, but her resilient spirit touched everyone who met her. Now thriving in her foster home, Eleanor has begun to show her true, sweet personality. She enjoys exploring her surroundings, crafting perfect biscuits with her paws, and curling up in her tower for peaceful naps. Eleanor is wonderfully expressive—she’ll greet you with meows when she sees you or when she’s ready for her next delicious meal. Her affectionate nature makes her a delight to have around, especially for someone who spends a lot of time at home, as she thrives on companionship and your presence. While Eleanor previously lived with other cats, she’s made it clear she prefers to be the queen of her castle and would do best as your only pet. She tolerates the dogs in her foster home but would be happiest in a home where all the attention is hers to soak up. Eleanor is ready to leave her past behind and start a new chapter filled with love and comfort. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion to share your days, Eleanor would love to meet you! Her adoption fee is $200 and Eleanor is vaccinated, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped, and spayed. She also qualifies for our Senior-to-Senior program so if you're 60 years or older, you can adopt her for just $150. Story
2 male cats (brothers) in need of a new home - We can no longer care for these cats because of allergies. They are brothers who have grown up together and have always been together so we would like to keep them together. They are both very sweet and friendly cats. Tucker (the black and white cat) is very verbal. So much so that he has the nickname Mr. Meow-Gi. Tabby is not as verbal but he is sweet too. They are good with dogs as we have two dogs that are 50 pounds each. They have never scratched. They have never had any problems with the dogs or any of the people here. We just can not care for them because of allergies. We know they would make someone else very, very happy.

Story
Our barn cat program is for our cats that take part in the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program but can't be returned to their communities because of danger or lack of care. These are our less social cats that don't crave the company of people, at least at this point in their lives. These cats are peaceful, easy to care for, and make friends easily with other farm animals. Pictured is our lovely Chula who was adopted as a mouser for the family chicken coop. The family followed the relocation instructions and Chula became queen of the land! Like Chula, many families that have adopted a barn cat report that the cats have become friendly over time and bonded with the other animals as well has the people. Most often, the cats are delivered in pairs by our volunteer that settle the cats in and provide instructions for you to follow. All agree that it is very rewarding to give a home and freedom to a less fortunate cat who just by chance was born without a human hand. Please fill out our application from our website and call 860-479-5173. Thank you!

Story
Cookie is our stunning, one of a kind beauty who will need a one of a kind person. As you can see in her video she really likes her catnip. She also really loves her foster mom and is always near her and cuddling with her, even under a blanket. Cookie is very possessive of her foster mom so she will not greet you with an arched back and happy tail. It took three days for her to warm up to her foster mom. Now, Cookie doesn't let her out of her sight. We do believe that Cookie has 'only kitten syndrome'. This happens to some kittens when they are taken away too young from their mom and are not around other cats. Mama cats are excellent mom's. They are so loving and they discipline their kittens and show them proper behavior. It's best that kittens stay with their mom's until they are eight weeks old. That's if they are not outside rescues, of course. In that case it's best to get them in as soon as possible to keep them out of danger and to socialize. Cookie does need a home because we can't afford to loose any foster homes. Adopting her would open a spot for a new rescue. That means you are really rescuing more than Cookie. We have kitties on the cold streets that need to come in. Please fill out an application for our beautiful girl at our website www.hucatrescue.org. You will get a kick out of her and lots of entertainment. YOU ARE INVITED TO OUR MEET & GREET THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 21ST. WE WILL BE AT PETCO, 188 KITTS LANE, NEWINGTON, CT. USING THE NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE VAN. THE HOURS ARE FROM 1:00-3:00 PM. PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE PRIOR TO THE EVENT. THANK YOU!

Story
Spook is a handsome, large boy. He was abandoned with his brother Angelo after an eviction. Spook was in a state of shock and confusion at first. He is now ready to bond with a special person. Spook is cautious at first but that is understandable. He needs a little adjustment period then he will greet you at the door and he quite vocal too when he is comfortable. He also likes lots of attention. It is estimated that they are 4 to 6 years old. Spook would not mind being an only kitty because he does like lots of attention. He's also respectful of other cats so if you have a spot in your home for another kitty, he will make no waves. Please fill out an application on our website at www.hucatrescue.org. Thank you! PLEASE JOIN US THIS SUNDAY, JAN. 26TH AT PETCO, 188 KITTS LANE IN NEWINGTON. WE WILL BE ON THE NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE BUS WITH OUR BEAUTIFUL RESCUE CATS IN SEARCH OF THEIR FOREVER FAMILIES. THE HOURS ARE FROM 1:00-3:00 P.M. PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION FOR THE EVENT. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE. THANK YOU!
