Story
Hi! My name is Dozer and I’m a playful, goofy, sweet and loving boy. I’m 3 years old and a Rottweiler - Bully mix. I currently weigh 90 lbs. I like to think I have the cutest, squishiest face. I love all things… especially sleeping, toys, and my blankie. When I say love, sometimes I love a little too hard especially for my people. I am known to be protective with those I love and my space. I like to play rough, some might say a bit too rough, however I have never bit or hurt anyone. I’d like to think I never would. I haven’t had a lot of consistency in my short life to teach me boundaries. I’m willing to learn! I’m looking for a new home, particularly one where I am the only dog and there are no kids (for now). I’m not quite sure how I feel about those little humans yet. I promise I’d make a great companion. I love to snuggle and pretend I’m a lap dog. I promise to make you feel safe and loved, as long as you do the same for me!

Story
Rottie is now taking applications. Rottie was left behind in a Columbus neighborhood when the person caring for him moved. He wandered the neighborhood for weeks before we took him in. Rottie is a goofy fun loving dog that loves attention. He is playful and is still learning good doggy manners. He would love an experienced Rottweiler owner to help with his training. He prefers a low key life style so a quiet home would be preferred. Rottie needs to be an only dog.Apply at ricopetrecovery.org to learn more about him.Adoption fee is $250

Story
7-month-old bundle of joy. My heart is as big as I'm going to be, which is quite big! I'm super sweet & loving. I'm smart too, quick to learn new tricks. I'm still learning about house breaking and manners, so I need a patient teacher, but I promise to be the best student. I get along great with other dogs too. I love cuddling and always happy. I'm looking for a forever home where I can share all my puppy love. Adopt me and you will have a best friend for life! I came in with Gia and Chip but we do not have to be adopted together, I just want a loving home. We aren’t sure how I am with cats. I’ve lived with kids and we had a good time. Please come fall in love with me at the Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Gilead, OH or call 419-946-1747 for more info on me. Please share me if I’m not a perfect match for your family.January 6, 2025, 1:00 pm

Story
Lugnut is about 2 yrs old and is likely a Rottweiler/Boxer mix.  He is social and happy.  He has likely been in a home before because he is very smart and knows several commands/words.  He is ok on leash, loves snacks, LOVES toys--specifically tennis balls and squeaky toys. He will be neutered, have all age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and wormed before going to his new home. If you are interested in Lugnut please stop during our regular business hours and meet him.  We require an application as part of the process. Dogs do not go home the same day as meeting.    Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Gilead, OH. 419-946-1747February 5, 2025, 4:17 pm

Story
Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to Columbus, Akron, or Cincinnati Ohio. Rooster resides with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. You may also find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/houstonshaggydogrescue

Story
Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited or wants something (we now know that comes from the Boxer in her). Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs around 75 pounds. Gypsy has been with us for 3 years, and we don't know why she has not been adopted yet. She is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog we have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with older children. Gypsy is smart and might benefit from more obedience training from someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is a sweet dog. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy must be in the house as a loved family member. She must be walked on a leash and have a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. To emphasize...although Gypsy generally gets along with all dogs (she currently lives in a home with 14 other dogs both large and small and there are no problems), She either needs to be the only dog in the house or only paired with one other large male dog. Gypsy has been with the rescue for 3 years and a change will be scary. She needs an experienced adopter who is patient understanding, and willing to give her the time she needs to get comfortable in a new home. She is a great dog for a single person or couple. Any children should be over 10 years of age. Gypsy spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. She is now heartworm-free and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy is located in Texas but can be transported after she is adopted. Her adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to several scheduled stops in Ohio - including but not limited to - Columbus, Cincinnati, and Akron OH Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this very good girl. Story
Yellow Lab/Pitbull/Mix DOB:  Approx.  08/07/23 Goldie Girl is the darling of our program.  She was found wandering down the street in a neighborhood.  She was lost, scared.  Her little tail was tucked between her legs, her little paws were raw from walking and looking for her owners who drove away after removing her collar. Goldie was seen walking up and down the streets for several days...looking, walking, running to each person that she saw until she realized it wasn't who she was looking for.  Finally, a kind neighbor went out to her, and talked to her quietly and told her that everything would be okay.  And she said that Goldie looked at her...really looked at her....and she untucked her tail and she wagged it just a little bit.  For the first few days, Goldie sat by the door, watching and waiting for her owner to return.  It was heartbreaking.  But as time went on, she started to play and follow the other dogs in the home around.  And even though the sadness was still there, in her eyes sometimes and when she saw someone come to the door, we saw her true self start to shine through. Goldie loves other dogs. She is sweet and loves them all.  She is even good with cats.  She is just a sweet girl.  She has learned to "sit", is mastering potty training, and is learning to go into a crate and not be sad.  But most of all, she is a cuddler.  She wants to cuddle all of the time....she wants to be right next to her people...probably so they don't leave her again.  She is learning to be carefree and happy again and she LOVES to play and run and jump.  She is finally feeling happy...and Goldie will make a sweet addition and best friend for someone.  But we ask that if you adopt her and promise to be her person that you promise to be her person forever.  Goldie's heart would be broken if this happens to her again.  So if you can open your home and your heart to Goldie for the rest of her life, please complete an on-line Adoption Application at https://www.jotform.com/form/223107373504044 and meet the best little girl who will make you finally understand what it means to be unconditionally loved!
