Typical with this giant breed, he bonds really strongly and is protective of his people. He lived previously with a cat friend, so wouldn't mind having a large-dog-savvy cat friend in his new home! He may not mind having a dog friend either, though has never lived with another dog so might require some slower integrations while everybody gets to know each other.
