Story
Sparkles came into rescue with her littermates (b. Nov 2023) and they were all battling the deadly Parvovirus.  She has recovered and is now healthy!!  She is a Rottweiler/Pitbull Mix and such a sweet girl with a bright disposition.  She is smart and athletic with an abundance of energy.  Sparkles is a little shy in new or unfamiliar surroundings, but before long, she is all wiggles and wags.  She LOVES to snuggle!  She gets along with other dogs and with kids.  She would do well with an active family and other pets since she doesn't like being alone. The suggested adoption donation for Sparkles is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavi/oral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. Story
A-Roo-Roo! That's the Rottweiler's way of saying "Hello!" Ing Lesh is an adult Rottweiler (b. approximately 7/2019) looking for his forever home. He is housebroken, dog friendly, and kid friendly with children 6 years of age and older. He knows some commands and loves to give kisses! Ing Lesh is active and would need a fenced in yard to help contain some of that active energy. Ing Lesh also likes to play with toys, however, he might need help learning how to share. He would love to have another furry canine friend if you already have one. Ing Lesh likes to sing the song of his people when he is left alone.  He is crate trained, but will need some extra encouragement that it is his safe space. He enjoys belly rubs, treats and toys of all kind! If you have room in your home for another member of your family, fill out an application for Ing Lesh!  The suggested adoption donation for Ing Lesh is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Say hello to sweet Bella, a Rottweiler, (b. appx Feb 2020) and she is ready for her second chance! Bella is looking for a home with experienced dog people (bonus points if you have Rottweiler experience!).  She also needs a home without kids or other dogs.  She is housebroken, kennel trained and knows some commands.  She gets along with cats and she would be okay around older kids (age 10+), probably just if they're visiting.  Even though Bella is a big girl, she is still a lap dog at heart and loves giving kisses.  Bella enjoys being active and needs a fenced yard with room to explore.  She likes to play, but prefers not to share her toys.  Bella prefers to dine alone so she will need her own personal space for meals.  Let's find this sweet and loyal girl a new place - apply today! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Titan is a big, cuddly teddy bear who loves food, bones, and toys. He loves his people and giving lots of hugs and kisses. He gets along very well with other dogs and really loves his foster siblings. He is kennel-trained and likes to learn, especially if treats are involved. He loves backyard zoomies and during winter, jumping in the snow. He is still in puppy mode and loves to play and chew. He is a smart, active boy that thrives when his mind and body are occupied. As with all puppies and teens, he would do best with a family that can provide lots of quality time, walks, good supervision and guidance, and plenty of chew toys! Titan is a big sweetheart that will steal your heart.Like any of our dogs, this young boy would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that his breed needs.  Because of that, Titan's ideal owner will have prior Rottweiler or other similar breed experience.  Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember  that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.   Titan's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.October 26, 2024, 2:26 pm

Story
FOSTER UPDATE: Three cheers for foster parents! Welcome to a little "magic moment" of rescue... Nova Lee's foster mom has been working with her on "stay" for some time and we are happy to share that it's been worth every minute. Nova Lee is no longer a door bolter! This smart girl is heading on to her next command "place," so her future family can look forward to a very smart, well-behaved sweetheart that's probably better trained than any teenager in the house... Nova Lee is a fun-loving Boxer Terrier who was born in April of 2016!  Nova Lee is a smart, busy girl who loves playing fetch, long walks, squirrel watching, and yard games; she's also quite the explorer so will need a backyard with a 6' fence to keep her close to home. She is a friendly girl who gets along with all people but she does NOT enjoy sharing her space with other dogs or cats.... as far as Nova's concerned she's the only 4-legged friend you'll need! She knows basic commands like "sit," "shake," and "ball," but her future family might be interested in working on "stay" --  Nova has learned indoor manners and is perfectly content keeping your spot on the couch warm while you're away from home. Because of these good manners she is not kenneled regularly, but on the rare occassion when she is (out of town visits with family, for example) she pouts for a bit but settles down on her own. Nova is 100% housebroken and will whine to indicate that she needs to go outside to potty. Nova is working on her leash manners... she gets excited and pulls but is working through it with her foster family. According to her foster mom, Nova growls when you play tug of war with her but in a playful way; however, due to her high energy and playful personaiity we think that any kids in her future home should be over the age of 15. Recently, her foster mom discovered that Nova has taken a liking to a particular house slipper... she says that Nova doesn't chew on it she just carries it to her bed and sleeps with it like a stuffed animal! This sweetheart is eager to find a family that will give her the attention, love, and all the birthday cake she deserves! NOTICE:  Nova is dog reactive and is working with a trainer on this behavior.  However, she WILL REQUIRE adopter to work with a trainer free of charge to provide a continuity to her training and help her transition to a new home. The suggested adoption donation for Nova Lee is $265. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. Say hello to Ronan (b. 10/2021) a Boxer/Pit mix.  Ronan is a loving and sweet energetic pup.  He loves to play with his foster sister, but equally loves to cuddle up on the couch with her and his people afterwards. Ronan is a very happy/good natured pup - he always walks with a pep in his step and has the biggest smile on his face no matter what he is doing. He is high energy and does always realize his size.  He especially has a lot of energy when he's excited, but has been making great improvements with training. He knows some commands, sit, shake, and stay.  He's also been working on lay down.
