Story
Margot, a loving 2-year-old Rottweiler mix, is ready to bring joy and light into her forever home. She seeks a compassionate individual who will make her the center of their life. After 8 months of growth with her trainer, Margot is now ready to blossom with the perfect person. She is potty trained, crate trained, and showcases impressive skills in basic obedience, with ongoing refinement of her leash walking and off-leash recall. Though initially shy, Margot quickly opens up, craving attention and connection. She has a preference for women but also embraces men with warmth. As a happy-go-lucky dog, Margot thrives in a single-dog household, yet she delights in playdates with her friends. Her ultimate forever home is to be the cherished focal point, nestled in a semi-active home where cuddles on the couch are plentiful. Margot is suitable for a novice owner who is willing to learn and grow with her. Prior dog experience is preferred but she is flexible and ready for her new family.

Story
We adopted a brother/sister and we have an older dog as well. Alpha is a good dog when by himself or with the older dog. Him and his sister team up on the older dog. We have chosen to rehome alpha because the sister and older dog have bonded. Alpha is fine with kids, and has been exposed to farm cats but I’m not sure how he’d do in the house with them

Story
Hi, I'm Pumba, just like the warthog from The Lion King, but don't worry, I'm much friendlier! I'm the epitome of sweetness and friendliness, always ready with a wagging tail and a playful bounce. I'm a bit of a goofball, too, often tripping over my own paws in my excitement to play. But when playtime's over, I love nothing more than to cuddle up close, my loyalty shining through as I keep you company. I'm looking for a forever home where I can share my love, loyalty, and laughter. I love to be outdoors, so a fenced yard or farm are my ideal places. Adopt me and let's create our own 'Hakuna Matata'! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2132872##

Story
Hello there! I'm Cadbury, your future best friend. Unfortunately this isn't my first rodeo at the shelter. I was found wandering around town and the nice people at the shelter weren't able to contact my owner. I'm the sweetest guy you'll ever meet, and I love making new friends. My goofiness is contagious, and I promise to keep you laughing with my silly antics. I've got a knack for making friends, whether they're dogs or cats, and I've never met a treat I didn't like. Be my second chance and adopt me! Luka loves people and especially dogs. He tries desperately to get my older dogs to play with him.  He loves snuggling and is working on his potty training ( going on puppy pads). He loves to eat! He sleeps in the crate through the night and loves playing with his sister.  He has the most beautiful blue eyes and adorable “eyebrows”. ##2196950##

Story
Meet Coco, a resilient and loving 9-year-old Rottweiler with a heart as big as her spirit. Despite living with Masticatory Muscle Myositis, an immune system disorder that affects her jaw muscles, Coco remains a joyful and athletic companion. This condition means she can’t open her mouth all the way, so she’s on a special home-cooked diet rich in meat and eggs to keep her strength up and takes a daily pill to manage her condition. Coco adores her walks and can be a bit of a puller on the leash if she spots another dog, but she’s always great with people. She’s super athletic and enjoys her time outdoors. Although she can’t play with toys or chew on treats due to her condition, she loves liquid treats and is happy and content in the car. A total sweetheart with a loving demeanor, Coco is also fine being left alone for periods. She’s looking for a compassionate home where she can continue to thrive and enjoy her walks, special meals, and the affection she so generously gives. If you’re ready to provide a warm and understanding environment, Coco will repay you with endless love and loyalty.
