Sweet Celia oozes with love, and her favorite way of showing her love is to snuggle up on the floor and immediately roll over for belly rubs. She is a little nervous around adults, so her new family should allow visitors to let Celia warm up to them before trying to pet her. She was immediately comfortable with the children in her foster home where the youngest is 8 and has loved all of the children she has met so far. Celia would be a great dog for most families, especially with a playful dog. She loves other dogs and has been great meeting large and small dogs on her walks. She enjoys playing with her foster dog siblings and she loves toys, especially squeaky balls! She could live with a dog-savvy cat; she is currently living with a cat, but he likes to keep her guessing. She is very curious about him. She will run if he runs and walks when he walks, so as much as she wants to be near him, she doesn’t have much of a prey drive. Not much interest in squirrels or birds when we walk either. Celia is pretty easy to walk but will lunge and bark at bikes and motorcycles. She has recently started barking at some adults that we pass. Distracting her with a treat and having her sit works almost all of the time. Celia has been malnourished/starved and neglected in her past, so she is constantly looking for food. Celia needs a family who will watch her carefully because she can be very sneaky and will dig into the trash and will climb on tables/counters for food. She has some separation anxiety so her counter-surfing is 100x worse when you leave the house. She should be crated when someone is not home. She has learned how to escape from her crate, so her crate must be 100% secure. On the other hand, she is extremely food motivated and has been pretty quick to pick up commands. She knows sit, down, stay, and will go potty on command in the morning, before bed, and after meals. She also knows “heel” except that she thinks it means stare at you while walking until you give her a treat. Physically, she is a little small/short for a Rottie, but she's got that perfect Rottweiler block head! She is about 65-70lbs, which I think is a good weight for her. She has some front teeth that are slightly chipped but it doesn't impact her chewing or eating. She has some signs of hip soreness. She is slow to sit, but the vet noted that she's not in any pain and has been able to do some slow jogs with her foster family. Her paperwork says she’s 5, but she has a lot more energy than her foster dog siblings who are both 5. She is definitely past the velociraptor stage! Finally, her foster family believes that Celia should be on a non-rice/chicken diet; she is eating salmon and sweet potato food from Costco without any issues. Celia is housebroken, but doesn’t always signal to go out. Celia doesn’t have any food or toy aggression and is naturally more submissive with dogs! She doesn’t jump up on visitors, despite her foster dog siblings showing her how it’s done constantly. She doesn’t lick faces but does like to lick hands. I think she could live with a small child, but when she is really excited, she could knock over someone when she’s zooming. Step 3: After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators. The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process. Step 4: Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract. Step 5: Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review.
