Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet. Celia is a love bug! Sweet Celia oozes with love, and her favorite way of showing her love is to snuggle up on the floor and immediately roll over for belly rubs. She is moderately active with spurts of energy and a lot of napping. Her exercise needs may increase as she builds muscle. Celia would be a great dog for most families, especially with a playful dog. She loves other dogs and has been great meeting large and small dogs on her walks. She enjoys playing with her foster dog siblings and she loves toys, especially squeaky balls! She could live with a dog-savvy cat; she is currently living with a cat but he won't let her get close to him. She is very curious about him. Celia is pretty easy to walk, but she is scared of bikes and motorcycles and will lunge and bark at them. She's a little scared of new people (mostly men) but has warmed up to her foster dad. She was immediately comfortable with the children in her foster home where the youngest is 8. Celia has been malnourished/starved and neglected in her past, so she will try to eat many things. Celia needs a family who will watch her carefully because she can be very sneaky and then swallow things in less than a second, including things that are not edible. Her foster family caught her trying to eat a bar of soap. She hasn't tried to eat clothing or her toys but did try to eat a rainbow loom bracelet. On the other hand, she is extremely food motivated and has been pretty quick to pick up commands. With a handful of kibble, she'll go to her crate, but prefers to be standing next to her person at all times. Due to her eating things, Celia should be crated when home alone, but she will cry/howl in her crate when left there. She should go to a home where someone can be home with her so she does not need to be crated all day. Also, Celia is mostly house broken but will not always signal to go out. Physically, she is small for a Rottie, but she's got that perfect Rottweiler block head! She has some front teeth that are slightly chipped but it doesn't impact her chewing or eating. She has some signs of hip soreness. She is slow to sit, but the vet noted that she's not in any pain and has been able to do some slow jogs with her foster family. Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow .
