Story
Meet Violet! This sweet girl is a young Lab mix weighing in around 50 pounds, and she’s full of love and energy. Violet is the kind of dog who will happily curl up next to you for snuggles after she’s had a chance to burn off some of her playful spirit. She’s affectionate, friendly, and always ready to brighten your day with her happy personality. Like many young dogs, Violet is still working on her training and manners. She’ll benefit from a patient adopter who is willing to continue guiding her and helping her grow into the best version of herself. With consistency and love, she has so much potential to become an amazing companion. Violet has done well with other dogs during her time at the shelter, making her a great candidate for a home with a canine friend. At this time, we are unsure how she does with cats or children, as we have not been able to test her with them. If you’re looking for a loving, energetic pup who will keep you smiling and shower you with affection, Violet might just be your perfect match.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Too young to be a mother, as she is a puppy herself at only a year old, Pepper was one of the dogs recently brought to the shelter due to her family's health and medical issues. They realized they were not able to care for all the dogs at their home, and asked for assistance. Pepper and her sister lacked experience with leash walking and have made huge strides at the shelter learning to walk on leash, and now associate good things--leash walking--with the volunteers who spend time daily convincing them that life is better when you can get out and about. Pepper was glad that we took baby care off her plate so she can concentrate on getting fit and trim and finding a home! Pepper is still not sure about a leash guiding her, but is learning to accept it as part of her new life. She has no confidence whatsoever and is still wishing she could dive into a hole and hide, but we are helping her through use of treats and lots of attention.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 14, 2026, 1:32 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Red's family asked us to find him a home, through our "My Home to Yours" complementary posting. Here is what she says about him: "He does not like to be outside, so he potties and then cries until he’s let back in-- so definitely an inside doggy. He is 7-8 years old, and is very friendly and cuddly but can also be very clingy and has separation anxiety. He is around children very comfortably, but we recommend older respectful kids since Red had a bad experience when an unsupervised toddler jumped on him and pulled his tail. Red loves his humans, being safe inside, and being loved! He is not a fan of hiking or adventures to a dog park so if you are looking for a solid easy-to-care-for pet, Red would most likely be a lovely fit. "My Home to Yours" We have had numerous requests from citizens in our county to help them rehome their pets, but they are willing to keep them in the home until it happens, rather than bring them to the overflowing shelter at Campbell County Animal Control near Yellow Branch. We are listing those cats and dogs on our website as "My Home to Yours." We ask that interested adopters fill out the FOAC application, and we will pass it along to the family wanting to rehome. We cannot guarantee health, temperament, or behavior for these pets, as we have not met them. However, we are happy to act as a resource for issues that may arise. **For pets not spayed or neutered, we are happy to help set that up!
