You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, May 17th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Isaiah is a smart, active Jack Russell Terrier with a playful spirit and an adventurous heart. This curious little guy loves exploring the world around him, whether he’s sprinting through the park, sniffing every trail he can find, or splashing through shallow ponds and lakes with his foster siblings. He’s recently discovered just how fun water can be and happily runs and jumps through it with pure joy. When he’s not out adventuring, Isaiah is always ready for belly rubs, squeaky toys, and quality time with his people. Isaiah is an incredibly fast learner who thrives when given enrichment and structure. He already knows an impressive list of commands including sit, come, stay, down, wait, leave it, roll over, kennel, outside, and go potty. He has also participated in agility training in the past and would absolutely shine with someone interested in continuing advanced training, agility, obstacle courses, scent work, ratting, or other fun activities that keep his busy mind engaged. He would make an excellent companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle with daily walks, hikes, or runs. While Isaiah is social and eager to learn, he is still building confidence in certain situations. Loud noises, overwhelming commotion, men, and young children can make him nervous, so he will do best in a calmer home with older, considerate kids or adults only. He does not need another dog in the home and would be perfectly happy soaking up attention as your one-and-only sidekick. Isaiah is looking for a patient, active family who will appreciate both his intelligence and his sensitive side. With continued guidance and love, this fun little guy is sure to become an incredibly loyal and entertaining companion. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi! My name is Erika, and I’m a happy little puppy with a wagging tail (with the cutest little white tip—it’s like a flag!) and one adorable floppy ear that seems to have a mind of its own. I may be a little shy when we first meet, but I’ve really come out of my shell! I warm up much more quickly now and once I know everything is safe, my sweet, playful personality shines. My tail is almost always wagging because I truly want to be your friend. My favorite things in the world are toys, treats, and playing with my dog friends. I especially love toys that squeak or crinkle, and I could spend a long time happily chewing or tossing them around. Running around the yard with other dogs is one of my absolute favorite activities—I love to chase, explore, and just be a happy puppy. I also have a softer side. I love cuddling just as much as I love playing! Now that I’ve mastered getting up on the couch, it’s one of my favorite spots (besides the bed!) to snuggle up with my people or my dog friends. I have a pretty chill, easygoing personality and really enjoy just being close to those I trust. Because I’m still learning about the world, I feel most confident when I have another dog around. I naturally follow their lead when I’m unsure, and having a dog buddy helps me feel safe and brave. I would truly thrive in a home with another friendly dog to play with and snuggle. I’ve been working hard on my training and have made great progress! When kept on a consistent schedule, I’m doing very well with potty training and have been able to keep my crate clean during the day. I settle nicely in my crate and continue to improve every day. Leash walking is still a work in progress, but I’m getting better! Cars can make me a little nervous, so I’ll pause and let them pass, then keep going. With continued patience and encouragement, I’ll keep gaining confidence. I also love spending time outside—especially laying in the warm sun or finding the perfect stick to chew on. It’s the simple things that make me happiest! I’m a gentle, loving, playful girl with a soft heart, a wagging tail, and so much love to give. With a patient family and a dog friend by my side, I’ll continue to blossom into the most loyal and snuggly best friend. The only thing missing from her happy, tail-wagging life….is someone to share it with .  I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by The Wilbur Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $150.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi, my name is Neuf and I'm from Minnesota. From his foster: Neuf is a happy, spunky, energetic guy who loves squeaky toys, playing with other dogs, and zooming around the yard. He’s very smart and highly food-motivated, making him responsive to training—he’s already picking up basic obedience quickly. Neuf does great in his crate overnight and is fully potty trained, going right away when let out. Neuf can be a bit vocal at first when hearing new sounds or meeting new people, but he settles quickly and becomes friendly and affectionate with calm, patient introductions. He appears new to structured leash walking and may pull, dart, or bark at moving things, so he’ll need a patient adopter committed to continued leash training. With consistency, he has already shown impressive improvement. He does have some mild separation anxiety and prefers being near his humans—something we expect will continue to improve in a stable, forever home. Neuf is very playful and may nibble during excitement or greetings, which is not aggressive but does require redirection and ongoing training. Because of this, he would do best with adults or older children who understand dog boundaries. Neuf is good with other dogs but has been known to chase cats, so a cat-free home is recommended. With structure, patience, and love, Neuf has made incredible progress in a short time and will make a loyal, affectionate companion. He’s a sweet boy with so much love, snuggles, and tail wags to give. Neuf has completed a Stay and Learn program with Happy Dog Lodge in Cambridge, MN, to work on his on his reactivity. This program will provide continued email and phone support to Neuf's adopter.
