You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Election is from Texas. She was rescued from a hoarding situation there. Election was an incredibly scared girl, used too little to no human contact. She had also not been potty trained whatsoever when she arrived at her texan foster's home. She has been working with her texan foster family on potty training, and she almost has it down pat! She's come so far in the two months since she was rescued! She's a pretty low-key pup who enjoys watching TV on the lap of her Texan foster mom's 80 year old mother.. lol. She's ready to live the good life of daytime TV and treats when she gets to her new home here in Minnesota. Election is not kennel trained, and has been given free roam in her texan foster moms house with no negative consequences. She really just wants a warm lap to sit on and someone to give her a constant supply of tummy rubs. if you think this sweet little girl sounds just as close to perfect as possible, please fill out an adoption application today! She can't wait to meet you! They arrive in Minnesota on 1/11/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. Hi everyone, my name is MiaI am a lap dog who loves all your attention (happy place). It takes me a while to warm up to new peoplebut when I do I become a velcro dog. I will follow you everywhere you go.I love to play with all toys and my fellow small dog siblings. I am okay with large dogs, but they do scareme. I bark at the cat, but I do not do anything else.I am somewhat vocal when I hear noises or when another dog barks. If you leave me home alone, I amnot very happy and I will howl and bark. Who can blame me, I have missed you and would prefer not tobe alone.I am still working on potty training, if you let me out often, I am doing better all the time. I also use apotty pad in the house but occasionally I do go on the floor.I am good in the car.I am not fond of crates, so my foster mom lets me roam and I do just fine. I am a very well-behavedlittle girl, and I am very intelligent. Did I forget to mention that I would sit on your lap all day if I could.If you are busy, I will just lay on the floor by you and that is okay too.I currently live with dogs of all sizes and a cat. I do prefer small dogs as I am not very big myself I havenot been around kids much in my foster home but I think as long as they were respectful and gentlewith me I would be fine. Henry is an extremely sweet dog. He can truly be a mans best friend. He loves to take long walks. We even jog for a mile or two sometimes. Henry loves nature and being around those he loves. He is a cheese lover and just super polite when he is at home. Sleeping is also high on his priority list. That said he behaves extremely well in controlled environments but once he is outside of that environment fear will take place. He is an anxious and reactive dog that needs to be on controlled medication. If he feels someone is encroaching on his space he will bite and protect himself and owner. So he should not be patted or touched by other people or dogs that he does not know. The perfect set up would be a family that doesn't really travel much or have strangers over --- one that has backyard that he can play in and does not have any small kids in the house.

Gaia is a very energetic and playful young adult. She just turned 3 this November. She loves kids and her favorite game is fetch. Unfortunately she also has a knack for getting into things she isn't supposed so we feel it's necessary to kennel her when we are away. She doesn't seem to mind this for short periods but with energy like hers I'd like to see her go to a home that has more time to spend on exercising and training her. She can be territorial around other dogs but once she gets used to them she loves to play.
