Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Scooter, a quirky, snuggly little goofball with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This French Bulldog mix is full of love, energy, and opinions. At about 30 pounds, he's the perfect size for lap cuddles—which just happen to be one of his favorite things in the world. Belly rubs? Yes, please. Ice cubes? Delicious. Chasing the hose? Pure joy. He’s got a playful streak a mile wide and adores games like tug-of-war, keep-away, and wrestling with trusted dog friends. But let’s be real—Scooter is not your average, easygoing pup. He’s had a rough go somewhere along the line, and he’s working hard to feel safe in the world. He has a few non-negotiables: he needs time to build trust, doesn’t like chaos, and absolutely does not want anyone messing with his ears unless you're in the inner circle. Men make him nervous, and he's not a fan of being left alone too long. Scooter is also very food-motivated—which can be both a training superpower and a trigger for resource guarding, especially around other dogs.  Scooter does best being fed in a separate area, if dogs reside in the home.  He is also picky with his canine friends.  He has been fine with more mellow dogs.  Bouncy puppy energy is something he would prefer to avoid.   Scooter can and will lunge or bite if he feels overwhelmed or scared. He’s made huge progress in foster care, but he needs a calm, confident human who will continue that journey with patience, structure, and maybe even a good trainer in their corner. He’s not crate-trained (he finds crates stressful), and he’s not suited for homes with kids or lots of commotion. A fenced yard is a must—he needs space to run and decompress. Here’s the flip side: once you’re “his person,” Scooter will love you with his whole goofy heart. He’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. He’s smart and knows commands like sit, down, leave it, and “go potty.” He’s house-trained and walks well on leash. He loves toys, attention, and being part of the action—as long as it’s not too much action. Scooter isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who sees the beauty in helping a misunderstood dog bloom, Scooter might be your perfect project-turned-best-friend. He’ll make you laugh, keep you company, and love you fiercely. And that, friends, is a pretty special kind of magic. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. This breed is known for loyalty and quick learning, making these puppies highly trainable and eager to please. Belgian Malinois: From the Malinois comes alertness, athleticism, and confidence. This breed is known for its sharp mind and devotion, adding a spirited and attentive edge to this special mix. Personality & Temperament These puppies are already showing wonderful personalities—friendly, curious, and full of life. They’ve been well socialized, making them comfortable around people and ready to integrate into loving homes. Expect a great balance of cuddly companion and playful adventurer! Ideal Homes Due to their intelligent and active lineage, these puppies will thrive in homes that can provide: Daily exercise and mental stimulation Ongoing positive training and engagement Plenty of love, attention, and companionship Why You’ll Love Them Friendly and affectionate Smart and eager to learn Unique appearance and personality Raised with care and socialization These pups are truly special—combining the best traits of three remarkable breeds into one irresistibly lovable companion.  Hi there! I’m Caballo — professional heart thief, cuddle connoisseur, and tiny adventurer extraordinaire. ✨   Right now, I’m living with my foster family and my sister, who I graciously allow to believe she’s in charge. I’m a proper little lady, after all, and sometimes I even let her sip from the water bowl first. Dinner time, however, is a different story — if I don’t hop in quickly, she might “accidentally” sample both portions. A girl’s gotta protect her snacks!   I’m equal parts snuggle bug and curious explorer. One minute I’m cozied up in your lap like the world’s softest blanket, and the next I’m off investigating mysterious parts of the house, squeaky toys, and other very important puppy business. My foster mom says I’m a smart cookie, which makes sense considering my impressive blend of clever breeds.   When nap time rolls around, which is frequently, my favorite place to sleep is with my people. But if no humans are available for cuddle duty, I simply improvise by piling onto my sister — beside her, across her, or directly on top of her like a furry little throw pillow.   With my soulful eyes, sweet nature, and cheerful personality, I have a special talent for making people fall head over heels. I’m dreaming of a forever family who will share adventures, couch snuggles, snack breaks, and all of life’s moments with me.   Could you be my happily-ever-after? Bulldogs, pugs, and Boston terriers, Brussels Griffons, Pekingese and others are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to other surgeries, this dog may have had surgery on their nares and soft palate to improve the quality of their breathing.  This will be partially reflected within her adoption fee. These breeds are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for these breeds usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires a separate application and an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. This dog requires a Bulldog Application.  All applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. To learn more, visit  https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/bulldogs/ to fill out the Bulldog application. I’m Osa — a bright-eyed little adventurer with a heart full of gold and ears that seem to have had a head start on growing before the rest of me. Truly, they take up a very impressive portion of my tiny puppy body.   I’m a clever girl who loves solving life’s great mysteries. Water dish outside my big pen? No problem! Foster mom opens the little corner gate, and off I go on my important hydration quest. Potty pads? I mostly understand the assignment already…though I am still just a baby, so a little grace goes a long way.   Now, being this smart does occasionally lead to a sprinkle of puppy mischief. But beneath the curiosity and shenanigans, I’m a very good girl with a sense of adventure and a healthy appetite. The moment I hear the food container open, my giant ears perk up like satellite dishes picking up the world’s most exciting signal.   So what do you say? Could you be my forever family? I’ll do my best to fill your days with curiosity, cuddles, laughter, and lots and lots of love.
