Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hey there! I’m Leominster, but everyone calls me Ham or Hammy because, well, it just fits my personality! I’m a 5-year-old, 31-pound French Bulldog with a handsome merle coat, and I’m finally getting a taste of the cozy indoor life. I’m what they call a “velcro dog” because I love being close to my people. I’m not pushy about it, but hanging out nearby makes me feel at ease—especially if I can sprawl out next to your chair while you work. I am the best office buddy and happy to lounge around while you get work done. I’m doing a great job learning the house rules and am getting really close with potty training, though I still wear a belly band inside while I adjust. I’m a low-key guy who’s generally pretty quiet, though I get a vocal if I’m left alone. I’ve been trying out a crate, and I do best at night or if I have a peanut-butter Kong, but for now, I’d do best in a home without shared walls as I work on my separation anxiety (I’ve just started some meds to help with this too). When my people are not home, I MUST be crated while they are gone, even if I bark! I unfortunately get worried and panic – so might dig and climb on things that I would NEVER think of doing when we are near. When it comes to other dogs, I’m fine with them as long as they’re laid-back and not too small—I’d do great as an only dog or with a chill friend over 15 pounds. I have my quirks, but I’m a gentle, treat-loving companion who’s good with kids, respectful of cats, and taking each new experience in stride. Plus, I’m super good at recall, so I’ll always stick close. I’m a loud snorer (comes with the bulldog package) and very sensitive to heat, so I’ll need a home with AC to keep me comfy. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing buddy with a lot of love to give, I’m your guy! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.     In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Leominster also had surgery on his nares and soft palate to improve the quality of his breathing. This is reflected within her adoption fee. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi, I’m Cranberry, and I'm a laid-back, one-year-old French bulldog with a big heart and a love for life’s cozy comforts! I’m still new to all this "house dog" stuff, but I’m catching on quickly, especially since I have an awesome foster family showing me the ropes. I adore being close to my humans and will follow you everywhere you go—I'm just here for the company and all the cuddles! Some of my favorite things? Toys! I’m always up for a little playtime, and I’m a big fan of treats, too (who isn't?). Chewing on benebones is my idea of a good time, and I have a soft spot for comfy blankets. I get the cutest zoomies in the backyard when it’s nice out; it’s like my own little racecourse. I’m not the biggest fan of the cold, but I’ll rock a sweater or jacket if it means I get to hang out with you outside. I’m also learning how to be a good boy on walks. The leash thing is still a work in progress, but with patience and treats, I’m getting better. Potty-trained? Mostly! A good schedule keeps me on track. And while I do fine in a crate, I might whine a bit at first—I just need a little time to get settled. Oh, and I’m great with kids and other dogs! So, if you’re looking for a gentle, snuggly, and loyal friend, I’m your guy. Let’s be best buds—I promise lots of love, zoomies, and a lifetime of Frenchie snorts and cuddles. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to Chuck & Don's Bloomington (8537 Lyndale Ave. S. Bloomington MN 55420) for an Adoption Event on Saturday, November 16th 1:00-2:30 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.      Hi! I’m Potato, the sweetest little Frenchie around. I’m just 7 months old and a perfect “micro” package of 22 pounds. I might look a little shy at first, but trust me, I have a big personality once I get to know you! When I feel a gentle hand petting me, I just melt—it’s my favorite thing in the world. I’m still learning about this whole “humans” thing, but I try to communicate by barking to let you know what I’m thinking. I haven’t figured out why humans don’t always understand my instructions! I love to run free in a fenced yard, and I’m still working on leash training. I also feel safest when I’m in familiar places and can get a bit nervous with new things and loud environments. When it’s time for my crate, I might bark a bit at first, but I settle down quickly and sleep well through the night. Potty training is almost there too—I just need a consistent schedule to stay on track! Leaves are my current obsession, and while I’m curious about toys, I’m still figuring them out. Basically, I’m a cute little work in progress who’s just discovering the world! If you have a patient, loving home, I promise to be your most loyal companion (and a little comedian, too!). *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. Potato should have his breathing evaluated between 18-24 months to see if he needs nares and soft palate surgery. This will be at the adopters expense, if needed, when full grown. It is estimated that 80% of bulldogs require this surgery. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi, I’m Huxley! I’m a 6-year-old French Bulldog with a fun-loving, easygoing personality that’s only grown since moving in with my foster family. I’m calm and chill during the day, but when the evening hits, I’m ready to play! Yahooo! Tug-of-war with a rope toy? Count me in! I could play for hours if you’re up for it, and I also love a good game of fetch with a tennis ball. I’m a very social guy, great with kids and respectful with cats, too. I’m also potty trained and know all the important commands like “Sit,” “Stay,” “Come,” and “Go Potty.” Walking on a leash is a breeze for me, although I don’t need a walk every day. I’ll admit I can get a bit vocal when strangers walk by the house, but I settle down quickly. I’ve also been known to play pretty energetically, so it might be a good idea to keep an eye on me at first if I’m around new dogs, just to make sure we’re all comfortable.  I do great with other dogs and would love to have one to hang out with in my forever home, if you humans are gone often. Being a French Bulldog, I do have some allergies that my forever home needs to be aware of.  Nothing too crazy for the breed, but if you can help me keep those in line, that sure keeps me comfortable! If you’re looking for a companion who’s mellow by day, playful by night, and always up for a walk or a game, I’m your guy! I’m healthy, spry, and can’t wait to find a forever family who loves a little bit of adventure balanced with calm time together. I’m Raisin, a one-year-old French Bulldog with a happy-go-lucky personality and all the curiosity you’d expect from a puppy! I’m always ready to play, whether it’s fetch with my kong ball, chewing on a good bone, or showing off my love for treats. I’m learning so many new things right now—like going potty outside, walking on a leash, and even mastering the stairs. I’m crate-trained and settle in nicely for some quiet time, and I don’t bark much, so I’m not as noisy as you might think for a Frenchie! I absolutely love other dogs, kids, and following my people around to see what fun they’re up to. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful pup who’s excited to learn and explore by your side, I’d be thrilled to join your family! Raisin should have his breathing evaluated between 18-24 months to see if he needs nares and soft palate surgery. This will be at the adopters expense, if needed, when full grown. It is estimated that 80% of bulldogs require this surgery.
Hi, I’m Ham! I may be a bit shy and reserved at first, but I’m secretly a little lovebug just waiting for the right family to come along and help me shine. I’m a one-year-old Frenchie, about 19 pounds, and I’m happiest when I get to spend time with other dog friends. They help me feel brave and show me it’s okay to let loose and have fun! So, I’d love a home with another dog who can be my buddy and show me the ropes. At first, I’m an observer—quietly watching everything from a safe spot until I feel comfortable. Once I know I’m safe, you’ll find me joining in on the fun! I love a good chase around the yard with my foster siblings, and you’ll usually find me chomping on my favorite bacon-flavored benebones (they’re great for my teeth!). Since new situations can be a little overwhelming for me, I’m hoping my future family will be patient as I get settled and learn that I’m safe. I do best in a calm, stable environment, so I’d prefer a home without young kids, as they can be a bit much for me right now. I’m still working on leash training; it’s all pretty new and can feel a little scary, so I’d really love a yard where I can safely roam and play until I’m more confident with the leash. Potty training is also a work in progress, but I’m getting close when I’m on a good schedule! Even though I’m still learning, I’m really sweet, patient, and ready to grow into the best version of myself. If you’re looking for a quiet, gentle companion who will blossom with a bit of time and care, I’d love to be your Ham.
