Story
We've had Annie with our 2 other dogs and children for the last 3 years. She's the sweetest dog ever and will not hesitate to try to jump on the couch or bed with you. Unfortunately, our house has gotten too busy and she's not able to get out and get the exercise and attention she craves and needs. I feel like she would flourish with someone(s) who can give her a lot of undivided attention and a place she could run and roam for hours.

Story
MEET MAX THE PERFECT ONE! He is a 6-year-old Dutch Shepard mix with beautiful bright dreamy eyes who thinks he’s human and loves everyone that he meets. His sister and her puppies were pulled from the shelter, and he was left behind for two years and became the house pet of the shelter, and everyone adored him, but it is time for him to find a new home. He has a gentle and kind soul. Spent time with a 87 year old mother and was very calm and respectful. He doesn’t need another doggy to be happy but acclimates if there was another doggy. He doesn’t need an active family just a family that wants a doggy to love. He thinks he’s 10 lbs. but weighs 60 lbs. He extremely friendly to other dogs and loves children. He walks perfect on a leash and loves to talk long walks and does not pull responds well to directions. His foster family loves him dearly and would love the opportunity to share more stories about MAX! Once adopted she will travel via private transport Rescue Vet (transport cost is $160.00) to a location closest to you. Story
DESCRIPTION:  Apollo's owner loved him greatly but struggled to keep him safe and in the household. As a result, Apollo spent too much time wandering about the neighborhood and checking in with the neighbors.  Unfortunately, this resulted in too many trips to animal control. Due to his frequent visits, Animal Control decided that Apollo would be safer if he moved forward with a new family.  Apollo is a big, sweet guy. Although it is clear that he has not had a lot of structure prior to his arrival, he is a quick learner and seems to prefer a calm yet confident handler. Apollo has lived with a couple of cats and has done well with them. He seems unaffected by their presence and is calm with them around. Having met a variety of dogs in his travels, Apollo has made it clear that he can live peacefully with another dog. However, he is not a big fan of high-energy dogs who get in his face. We can't blame him for setting his boundaries. Apollo is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the guidance and routine that will help him thrive. He will benefit greatly from training with his new family. This will not only help him bond to his new family but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. If your household is looking for a big, laid back guy, ask to meet Apollo today! October 28, 2024, 7:35 pm

Story
DESCRIPTION:  Beautiful Bailey was adored by her family. They knew she was a special girl and ensured that she had endless love, attention, and plenty of toys. However, when an unexpected event took place, they were unable to keep Bailey and provide her with the life they knew she deserved. Recognizing that we would provide Bailey with everything she needed to meet with success, her family made the heartbreaking decision to return her to the MAGSR. Knowing this was a very difficult decision, we promised we would find Bailey the perfect forever family.  Bailey is an active, intelligent, and playful girl. She loves her people fiercely and gives them every ounce of affection she has. With some very strong GSD traits, Bailey is loyal, protective, and on point. She tends to notice everything around her and keeps an eye on her people at all times.  As a girl with a high prey drive, smaller creatures can be a little too enticing for Bailey. She finds joy in chasing small creatures, such as rabbits and squirrels, and will need to be monitored closely if they are out and about with her. Fond of the outdoors, Bailey is always up for a long walk, hike, or adventure. She takes cues well from the handler and knows many commands. Lucky to have lived in a loving household for a few years, Bailey has developed a solid understanding of and appreciation for toys; she is hoping her forever family enjoys them too! She loves to play ball and can't help but enjoy a good squeaky toy. With a few years of experience living in a home, Bailey has also developed an affinity for a soft bed. She loves cuddling up on her dog bed and doesn't mind having a dog bed or two in the house just to change up viewpoints throughout the day. Although Bailey is crate trained and housebroken, once settled, she prefers to be out and about. This seems to keep her more settled throughout the day. As is true of all shepherds Bailey will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. Providing clear boundaries and expectations will help Bailey meet with success. Bailey has already completed some basic training; however, she is always up for more! Continued training is essential to Bailey's success. Not only will it help her develop her canine citizenship skills, but it will also help her develop a strong and healthy bond with her forever family.  October 28, 2024, 7:35 pm

Story
DESCRIPTION: Jovial Jason was picked up as a stray in the south. When he arrived at a shelter, it was discovered that he had a large, open wound on his back leg. As this shelter, like so many others, was sitting above capacity, once Jason's stray hold was completed, he was placed on the list to be euthanized. This handsome guy was incredibly lucky as he was pulled at the last minute by another rescue. Although they knew that Jason would need to be transferred to another rescue, this group knew that Jason deserved every opportunity to move forward safely.  Jason was fortunate to have been in a foster home for a few months before moving into the MAGSR family. During this time he was able to begin receiving the medical support needed to start the healing process. With debris cleaned out of his leg, medication provided, and six weeks of rehab in place, Jason's leg healed nicely allowing him to return to regular activities and playtime. Having endless opportunities to socialize with other large dogs, Jason greatly enjoys play time. He has an active and enthusiastic play style. However, we have learned that he gets a little too excited about cats and farm animals. He will not be placed in a home with these creatures. Having lived in a home, Jason has begun to learn the ins and outs of living in a household. He is housebroken and crate trained. As is true of all dogs, Jason will need time to adjust to the expectations, structure, and routines of his forever family. With time, patience, and leadership, we know he will succeed. As Jason moves forward, training will be key to his success. Training will not only help Jason create a strong and healthy bond with his forever family, but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen.  Unfortunately, we have learned that Jason is heartworm positive. This prognosis could have been prevented if Jason has been provided with monthly preventatives. Although heartworm treatment is expensive, MAGSR knows that Jason is more than worth the cost. Please consider donating to Jason's treatment. Not only will your donation help Jason get the care he needs, but it will also help us welcome other dogs with medical needs. Jason's treatment has already begun and he is more than half-way finished! He will need to take it easy over the next month or so as he finishes up. Jason is an amazing guy that is hoping to find a family that will love him for a lifetime. Could that be with you? October 28, 2024, 7:35 pm
