Story
Meet Leah!
Leah is a beautiful Doberman Pinscher puppy with a big heart and an even bigger love for her people. Born on 8/31/25 and currently weighing 29 lbs (and growing), Leah was adopted as a very young puppy but sadly returned when the young children in the home became fearful of her. Despite this, Leah remains a sweet, social pup with all the normal, joyful puppy behaviors you’d expect.
Leah is the definition of a Velcro dog - she wants to be right by your side and proudly earns the title of best bed snuggler. She loves to play hard, zoom around the yard, and then race inside to refuel at mealtime. She enjoys meeting new people, does well with other dogs that are tolerant of puppy energy, and has no issues with cats.
This active girl loves to run and frolic outdoors, so a secure, physical fenced yard is a necessity - running is truly her favorite thing. She does fairly well on leash walks but is still working on pulling and may bark at passing people to get their attention. Leah also enjoys car rides and already knows some basic commands.
Leah can be a bit submissive, especially if she thinks she may be reprimanded, and will thrive with continued consistency, positive reinforcement, and structure. She is currently working on perfecting her house manners and will benefit from a family committed to ongoing training.
Leah’s ideal home would be with a Doberman-experienced family and older, dog-savvy children who understand puppy behavior and the needs of this intelligent, loyal breed.
Leah is looking for a furever family to love, guide, and grow with her - and she promises endless snuggles, loyalty, and joy in return.
Leah can go home with you but will remain in foster-to-adopt status until the sterilization surgery has been completed at 6 months of age at one of our partner veterinary offices (Chesterfield, Clawson, Clinton Twp, or Rochester), which is included in the adoption fee and is non-negotiable.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.
While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
