Story
Halo here! I’ve been living my best life with my foster family lately. I love that I can lounge on the couch with a tiny human or even my foster dad when my mom is busy. You see, mom is my person, but she does a lot of things so when she can’t give me 150,000,000% of her attention, I have no problems seeking out another person. She says I’m the goodest boy because I don’t go potty in the house and I sleep through the night. However, I do require to sleep with you at night. I love to snuggle and prefer to have the little spoon position. I’ve got these really long legs, so mom gets a good laugh out of me always standing half on or half off the couch to chew my bone. She says it’s something called a "tinder pose," but I don’t know what that means. Last weekend she took me to this awesome lady’s house, but she gave me a bath. She also cut my nails and trimmed my toe hairs, which was weird. But she told me I’m a good boy and then she made me wear these goggles. Mom was super excited to see it. I guess what I’m saying is that I’m a good boy who will love to find his forever home. I like other dogs and all humans, but those kitty cats are a no-go. I have lots of energy and love to run, so a fenced-in yard is a must. If you are interested in checking me out, fill out an application at michelesrescue.com! ##2017253##

Story
I'm a happy and sweet boy who came to the shelter as a nervous noodle, but now I'm outgoing and bouncy! I love my staff people, and have loved all the dog walkers I've met. I enjoy going out and about and having a good time on my walks, I appreciate toys at times, and I love treats. But, what I'm really looking for is a home I can call my very own with a person or people who will love me and give me snuggle time. Could that be your home?  Likes Dog: UnknownLikes Cats: I've lived with catsLikes Kids: Unknown ##2247250##

He will thrive at a place where he has a yard to run and play around in! The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Chandler lived with a young family in an apartment (purchased from a breeder) until he was 'too big' and surrendered to a shelter. He was poorly socialized and was not used to strangers and never had dog friends. He was significantly underweight at 54 lbs and barked at strangers. The shelter staff knew the best way to find the 'right' family for their 'Silly Goose' would be through Rescue. Chandler Goose weighed in at 70 lbs during his rescue intake and was still noticeably underweight with poor muscle tone. He is tall and at 2 years old, will not get any bigger - which is fine since he is above the breed standard of a Doberman and fitting in the category of a Warlock or King size bred Doberman. He has been slow introduced to other dogs and thriving in group play. He does well with other doberman males and females; he wants to play and smell, following the lead of other dogs. He would like dog friends and a yard to play. Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/UNgh6IvlV8U?si=i-Q9xYtOpNeCRWga Chandler loves, LOVES balls and ropes. He is an anxious chewer and blanket sucker. He is very vocal, whining and barking when he wants attention. He was kenneled at the shelter for months, so he is reluctant to crate at his foster home. He prefers to sleep on a dog bed, couch or the floor. Chandler is being trained with boundaries (baby gates) and does not push open doors or push past people. He knows sit and is easy to walk on a leash. He barks at people and things at a distance but does not show aggression. He will need a family accepting of his initial anxiety - he barks at new things and people (which is unnerving since he's huge) but will give kisses by the 2nd date or meeting, give 48 hours in a new home before he understands. He is working on house training and socializing. He functions with a puppy brain but is very trainable and eager to please. Vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms and on prevention, microchipped, neutered. Fostered in Texas. *Adoption Fee includes XL crate fee on transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Story
Ceylon has been napping on a couch, playing tag and singing along to Christmas music since recovering from her past life of neglect. She has a healed bone fracture in her rear leg which looks funny but doesn't bother her, she balances on the leg and runs in full speed. Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/QLC72jVA4z0?si=r-3vv7g4d5_xwn5v Ceylon has made a full recovery and is a gentle, affectionate dog who would love her own family and other dogs. Favorite Color: Teal Favorite Toy: Rubber Pig Favorite Food: Cinnamon Rolls HER-STORY: Ceylon was seen laying in a yard during the hurricane winds/rain, clearly injured and very skinny. Animal Control called rescue and begged for medical help. The area she was found was rural and the animals did not have access to medical care once taken to the impound. We got her and immediately administered IV fluids and wrapped her to help warm her body slowly. She started to eat and calmed when cuddled. We knew she would pull through if able to be close to people. Her coat was bare in places and various scars around her body. Due to her injuries, she was not confined to a crate during recovery but given a room at the foster home, she created a habit of dragging herself to a corner to use the bathroom since going outside was too hard. She lacked muscle tone for weeks, unable to walk, she crawled and pushed herself to food and to be close to other dogs. Regular meals and her own style of rehab (following other dogs), she was found napping on the couch and quickly joined the pack running outside. Ceylon has made a full recovery and is a gentle, affectionate dog who would love her own family and other dogs. Based on the scars, the Vet aged her at 4 years old but -she is full of energy, playful and has gorgeous white teeth. Now spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm treated (she tested positive at intake). FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Email to Apply! Story
Carter is one special character - he is a red Doberman with a docked tail, floppy ears and medium build (healthy weight 60-65 lbs). Carter loves playing; rough housing, tossing toys, running and bouncing around. His 'special' character is his complete lack of maturity. Poorly socialized, but we also suspect, Carter was dropped on his head as a puppy or maybe fetal alcohol syndrome, his goofy face shows some developmental signs (eyes are too far apart) but otherwise, he's just HAPPY and DUMB. He is dog friendly, will let other males dominate him or push him down. He can be nippy due to his constant state of puppy - not mean, other dogs correct him. His foster has been working on his nippy, teethy grab for treats and awareness of hands. He needs a yard to run and downtime inside in a kennel with his stuffies at naptime. Due to Carter's low IQ - we recommend a home with older teens so no one gets mad that he takes fingers with treats when overstimulated. Training will take time, repeat and focus - maybe even a few beers for his humans. Carter SMILES the entire time and is happy to be in training, but retains little. Dobermans are known for their incredible ability to learn and observe to teach themselves. Carter identifies as a Lizard some days, other days as a Chicken. We have tried to explain to him, his amazing breed and the expectations. We want him to be LOVED for his goofiness. Favorite Color: HOT PINK Favorite Toy: Stuffed Bear Favorite Food: Meatballs by Milo's Kitchen HIS-STORY: This dude was kicked out of his home for being 'too puppy' - the shelter called rescue and it was noted, Carter did not know how to walk on a leash, was not house trained or used to any commands. He was in 'play' mode all the time and happy to have dog friends. Crate trained to force some routine and sanity at his foster home, Carter has matured (slightly) and has (some) manners. Now neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm treated (he tested positive at intake). FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee includes transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Email to Apply!
