Story
Zoe is a petite Dobie who was rescued from a shelter upstate. She is approximately 6 years old. You can tell that this girl has been through a lot, but despite everything, Zoe has the sweetest disposition. She loves people and loves pets, as in getting pets! She is also dog friendly! She wants to play with every dog she sees. While Zoe is playful, she is not rambunctious. She has a very calm disposition aka a couch potato. Zoe just wants to hang out with you on the couch with her head near or on you. In addition to her even-keeled temperament, Zoe is extremely smart. Zoe will make the perfect companion for almost any home, as long as it doesn't have cats - she is not a fan of the kitties.

Story
Mini is a 1-year-old brown Purebred Doberman Pinscher. Mini, her mom, and brother were rescued from a very neglectful owner when they were just 3 months old. Mini and her brother Badger are still looking for their forever homes. Mini is sweet but extremely shy, because of the situation with the original owner she was not socialized at all, but she is very approachable and enjoys petting. She will need some training and an owner that is patient and understanding. Mini is fully crate-trained and doing well with her house training. Mini must go to a home with a yard, no apartment living! Mini is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in her, please complete the application on our website: www.adoptmerescue.org. LOCAL AREA ADOPTION ONLY

Story
Badger is a 1-year-old Purebred American Doberman Pinscher. Badger, his mom, and sister were rescued from a very neglectful owner when they were just 3 months old. Badger and his sister Mini are still looking for their forever homes. Badger is still very much a puppy and behaves like one. He loves to snuggle and roughhouse with his foster brothers, chew on toys, sunbathe and run around in his yard. He would do best in a home with a large yard and another playful dog in the household, no apartment living for him! Badger is good with small to medium-sized dogs but a little intimidated by larger dogs. He is extremely observant, curious, and smart, and is currently working on learning basic commands. Badger is fully crate-trained and is working on his potty training. He would love to have a family who can spoil him, keep up with his puppy energy, and be patient during training. Badger is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in him, please complete the application on our website: www.adoptmerescue.org. LOCAL AREA ADOPTION ONLY

Story
Sushi is being rehomed and we are trying to help her avoid the shelter. She is a 1.5 year old, 55/60 lb Doberman. Sushi has been great with the other large dog in her home, but hasn’t been exposed to other dogs. She’s good work both men and women, and with kids (lives with a 10 year old, and does well when children ages 4-9 have visited). She’s noise trained! She was crate trained as a puppy but hasn’t been in a crate in a while. She’s a young, playful dog so she needs plenty of exercise. Once she goes on a nice long walk or run, she’s chill, but still enjoys to play throughout the day with her fur sibling. There have been 2 occasions where she’s nipped (not bitten) at a person’s sleeve and then at a dog outside of the home, both of whom came up quickly to touch her. this looked like more of an playful/excitement thing, and rare, but something to be aware of when walking her. We are happy to provide more information to anyone who be interested in adopting beautiful Sushi!

Story
Hi there! my name is Bruno! Many people say I have a charming personality with a million different facial expressions. I can be goofy and animated, but also regal and poised. I have a lot of great qualities about me like the fact that I never chew on furniture or bark. I am also crate trained and love going on walks. I have an obsession with balls, especially tennis balls - I can play with them for hours! But be careful when I'm around other dogs because I can get protective over my toys, and also my humans. I would be most suitable as the only dog in the household, with owners who will play with me and give me direction. Will you be my forever home?

Adopting a Doberman Pinscher

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Doberman Pinscher - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

Doberman puppies are expensive because of the high demand for these dogs. Responsible breeders may perform genetic testing and health screenings on the parent dogs and their puppies and provide quality care, nutrition, and vaccinations. Unethical breeders, puppy mills, and scammers charge high fees for unhealthy Doberman puppies too. Do your research, and consider adopting from your local animal shelter or Doberman rescue.

A Doberman costs around $300 when they’re adopted from a rescue or shelter. This covers the expenses of caring for the dog before adoption. In contrast, buying Dobermans from a breeder can be much more expensive. Depending on their breeding, they usually cost anywhere from $1,500 to $2,500.

You can start a breed search on Adopt a Pet to adopt a Doberman. The search will show you all the available Dobermans in your area. You can also adopt a Doberman through a rescue that specializes in Dobermans.

Doberman Pinscher fun facts

Fun Facts:

In 2007, a Doberman Pinscher saved a child from a deadly snake in Australia. The family dog had just been adopted four days prior; he was playing in the garden when he spotted the King Brown snake and quickly put himself between the snake and the toddler.

Doberman Pinschers were culled from Black and Tan Terriers (Manchesters) and German Shepherds, German Pinschers, Weimeraners, and Rottweilers.

The Doberman Pinscher is the only working dog that was bred to be a human companion.
