Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Juniper is a joyful and playful one-year-old Doberman who weighs 50 pounds, with a bright mind and a heart full of love. She’s ready to find her forever home with someone who can guide her as she grows and thrives. She settles well into her crate after play or training, enjoying a chew or enrichment toy. She likes having a crate cover but tends to pull blankets into her kennel, so they’re best avoided. She may chew bedding if bored, so keeping her mentally stimulated is key. Juniper is reliably potty trained with no accidents in her foster home! She rides well in a car kennel and is generally calm, although she may get a bit antsy in the backseat. A kennel ensures a comfortable ride for her. Juniper pulls on the leash but is quick to respond to corrections. She’s highly food-motivated, which makes her a joy to train. She’ll thrive with continued leash training to refine her skills. Juniper LOVES to play with other dogs! She has a classic, bouncy, and mouthy play style, so she’d be happiest with a dog who enjoys rough-and-tumble play. She’s social and energetic and loves having a playmate. She’s met a few cats and approaches them calmly. Juniper’s more focused on playing with dogs but can live harmoniously with cats in her home. Juniper has not been tested with young children but may not be ideal for homes with toddlers due to her exuberance. She’s still learning to manage her excitement and can be mouthy when overstimulated, especially during play. Juniper knows sit, down, and place, and she’s ready to learn more! Her intelligence and eagerness to please make her a fast learner, especially with food and toys as motivation. Juniper is an active, smart dog who loves to engage with her family. She enjoys both physical exercise and mental challenges, making her a fun companion for someone who loves to spend time training, playing, and adventuring. Juniper has done well in her crate for up to six hours, though she was on medication at the time. She’ll need gradual adjustments if her new home requires extended alone time. Juniper is a wonderful companion for someone who can provide her with consistent training and lots of love. She’s a bright, biddable dog who thrives in a structured environment and will repay you with affection and loyalty. She’ll do well in a home with another dog who enjoys playing or with a family who has the time to continue her training. As Juniper adjusts to her new environment, she can be reactive to other dogs while on leash. This is something that can be easily worked on with ongoing training. She can also get a little mouthy when excited, especially during playtime, but with the right redirection, she will learn to manage her excitement. If you’re looking for a smart, loving companion who’s ready to grow alongside you, Juniper is the perfect match. She’s waiting for her forever home—will it be yours? Story
Dior is a 4 year old Doberman Pinscher/Lab mix, who arrived as an owner surrender due to landlord issues. Dior is such a sweet boy, but is understandably stressed here at the shelter, barking to get your attention to take him out for walks. He loves his time outside of his kennel and engages in play with rope toys and fetch. Dior is nervous with new things but warms up with time. He is quite strong and weighs about 80 pounds, he recently presented guarding behaviors, so due to this we are recommending he go to a home with teens 16+ yrs old with experience of larger breeds and guarding. Dior already knows basic cues such as `sit, paw, both paws, stay, down.` And he is eager to learn more! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Falcon (TX) is thought to be a male Rottweiler mix rescued in Texas. Our veterinary partner estimates that Falcon is 2 years old at the time of intake June 2024. Falcon is good with people of all ages and other dogs. This young pup has not had it easy, being abused by some horrible human.  His angels were with him the day RDR found him and get him the medical attention he needed. His time in Texas is up and he is all ready to come to the Northeast to continue to heal and being spoiled rotten! If you would like to show this gentle boy that not all humans are horrible. please apply online to adopt Falcon (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org  RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 17, 2024, 5:56 am

Story
Felix is an approximately 3 &1/2 year-old male min-pin who comes to PAWS from a CT animal control where he was picked up as stray. Felix is a friendly little guy who enjoys meeting new people and is good around other dogs. Felix can be a bit of a resource guarder and requires an adopter who will be a confident leader with him and continue with his crate training. As long as Felix's food and toys are confined to his crate and he is not allowed up on the couch, he does amazingly well. Felix was adopted earlier this year and did wonderfully with his new mom. He was just settling in and fully letting his guard down when she suddenly uprooted him and moved into a new shared residence. This raised his anxiety levels and resulted in a bite when a man he had never met invaded his space. His owner then panicked and abandoned him at a local animal control. Despite this sad turn of events, Felix was happy to greet all of his old friends at PAWS. He loves going on walks with all of our volunteers and playing in the yard. His training at his prior home has actually helped him immensely as we have not seen much resource guarding since we took him back. Although he plays well with other dogs, due to his resource guarding, a household without another dog or cat would probably be best for him. We believe that he would also do best in a single person household so that he does not develop any guarding behavior of one person over the other. Felix is microchipped, neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)       Perfect pup 9m old 36lbs Robbins came from Arkansas. Love everyone & all dogs.     All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.
