Story
Allow me to reintroduce myself! My name is Archie- when I was with ASTDR before my name was Jarvis. So if my face looks a little familiar, that’s because this is my second round of looking for a forever home. I was adopted as a puppy and they decided to not do the work to make me a part of their family and return me instead, it wasn’t my fault but my foster mama says that next time, the people who adopt me will love me forever. So, I hope that’s you. A little about me is I’m just a year old! I’m a medium sized mixed breed pup. I REALLY love other dogs and can come at them with a lot of energy so I need a family that is willing to slowly integrate me with other dogs if there’s pup friends in the house. I like all humans- big and small! Men can be a little scary to me at first but I warm up really quickly with a good snack. It’s the way to my heart! If you have little humans in the house and want to bring me home, they should be stable on their feet cause all it takes is one booty bump and they take a tumble. Kitties… well. I think they are really cute… when they are running from me chasing them. So I shouldn’t live with them. Wanna know what else is cool about me? ASTDR is so invested in making sure I am successful in my second home that I’ve been hanging out with a trainer to teach me all the things that I should have been taught as a young fellow! That’s right! I’ve got all my basic obedience down, am crate trained and house broken! The real deal, whole package.. etc etc! I would love an active family that will take me on lots of hikes, play in the yard, and keep my body and mind busy. I am really “people’s dog” and love to be around humans. If I’m not under your feet, I’m on them, so I’d love a family that is willing to spend lots of time with me and will love me as much as I love them. Second time is a charm, I hope ! If you wanna bring me home you’ll need to fill out an application! Astdogrescue.com ##1727669##

Story
Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to Danbury, Glastonbury, or Lisbon CT. Rooster resides with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. You may also find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/houstonshaggydogrescue

Story
Hi, my name is Fury! But I'm more like a happy, gentle breeze that wants to have fun! You might recognize my name from the famous character Director Nick Fury of the Marvel movies, I'm kinda like him: I love being the center of attention and don't like it when people take my stuff! I am a big dog! With my mixed Doberman Pinscher/Black Labrador genes I am a whopping 52#/lbs and have a ton of energy and muscle that needs to be worked! Because of this it would be best if I was paired with an active family who knows how to keep a dog mentally stimulated and respects my boundaries well. No apartment living for me please! No cats or small children either! My caretakers have learned some important things about me: I am a chow-hound and will try to eat anything I can get my hands on! So please leave food out of reach from me or I'll swoop it all up. Secondly, I would prefer if people didn't grab things that I have in my mouth, it's mine not yours hehe! Overall, I am a big-hearted dog who wants to go play, be adventurous, have fun with other people and dogs! I am however not such a big fan of car rides, they make my tummy feel sick eww! I love all people and dogs, am a healthy, happy boy and just want to find my home. Let's work together and find it!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Expressive eyes do not come more intriguing then with our girl Kitty. Her soulful eye and her beautifully showcased black and brown coat is a showstopper. Kitty is a 2-year-old Doberman/husky mix. She is a larger girl weighing in around 52 pounds. She excels in good looks as well as personality. Her medium to high energy level will keep everyone on their toes. She loves to play and run around in a secure outdoor area. She does well with other dogs but has not been introduced to young kids since coming into rescue. She has been introduced to cats but because she rather chase a cat than hang out with one, she would not do well with cohabitating with a feline or small animals. Perhaps a path to agility training will be in her future. She could be an ideal candidate. When not facilitating in play or running around, Kitty enjoys her toys and bones. Her entertaining form of refreshment is ice cubes. She loves them. This girl has already aced her house training. She is currently working on her crate and loose leash walking skills. Kitty is learning one day at a time and will thrive in a structured environment and commitment to provide regular exercise, continued training and socialization. It is important to remember that although Kitty is housetrained, accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. If you are looking for a great mix of energy and personality, Kitty is right here waiting for you!The adoption fee for Kitty is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours.
