Story
Honey is a sweet two year old Doberman/husky mix. Sadly, her mommy has a terminal illness and has reached out to us to find Honey the perfect forever home. Honey is spayed, up-to-date on all required vaccines, HW negative and micro chipped. Honey is sweet and affectionate but a little awkward. She just needs a little bit of training to become that perfect dog. Training her mom just hasn’t been up to lately. Honey has one beautiful blue eye and the most adorable ears I’ve ever seen. She weighs about 55 pounds. She would do well with older children that wouldn't be knocked over as well as a good natured doggy sibling. If you would like to give this cutie pie a place in your family while putting her current mom at ease, please email dogs4mylife@gmail.com or omlc7@hotmail.com and we will send our information and application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.PENNY is currently on transport and due to arrive at the rescue on Saturday, 15th March. We are happily accepting applications. Updated photo's and videos will be posted when she has arrived and we have had time to update her profile. PENNY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and and  arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Saturday 15th March. We post our available dogs in states across the east coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes to find perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs, families must come to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet and then hopefully take home. PENNY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, and in March 2025 weighed 59 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of April 2024.  We can not say for sure what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. Penny was in a foster home for the shelter before transport and the family did note that she did start to get a little protective, not aggressive, over her food and toys with the other dogs. This is quite common for dogs that have had to fend for themselves and it just takes time, patience and training for them to learn and adjust. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. PENNY is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet girl. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. Story
Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to Danbury, Glastonbury, or Lisbon CT. Rooster resides with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. You may also find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/houstonshaggydogrescue

Story
Nacho and his two brothers Poncho and Rico are looking for a forever home. Each pup needs to be placed where the person is familiar with the breed and committed to the life of their pet(s).   These babies are three months old. Their owner surrendered them after he was in a position that he was unable to care for their well-being. He purchased their parents from other countries and had them shipped into the United States. They are registered, but the puppies will not be registered. They will be neutered.  Each puppy has been given all their core vaccines and seen by a licensed veterinarian.   They have been around small children and other pets. Each boy is playful and loving. Nacho is the alpha out of the 3 boys. They are all the same size.   Currently they are in Arkansas, but transportation is available. The adoption fee is $850 and that does cover the cost of transport as well. The person who had them prior to coming into the program had small children, and they did great around the kids. ##2315609##
