Story
Athena is an 11 year old, 43 lb, Corgi/Lab mix. Athena is a big dog in a small package; and she still has lots of playful energy but also enjoys chilling by your side or at your feet. Athena can be a bit anxious about new people and situations, so she will just need a patient person or family to let her come out of her shell. Athena does come around with gentleness, kindness, and a few treats, and once she falls in love with her humans, she will reward your patience with endless devotion. Athena would love to be your best friend and adventure companion or walking buddy! She’s not crazy about sharing your attention and would love to be an only pet but has learned to tolerate her foster’s dog and cat companions. Athena will do best in a calm, environment without too much anxiety-producing unpredictability. She is a very emotional and empathetic dog. When she feels safe and loved, she exudes an irresistible joyfulness! Athena is 100% house trained and has excellent house manners, so she can be left at home uncrated when her humans are out of the house. Athena would love to have her own yard and space where she can get in her sniffs and enjoy the sunshine. She is a smart girl and knows commands and absolutely loves to give affection and get pets. She wants nothing more than to be your best friend and enjoy life with her humans. Because of her age and some possible arthritis, she would do best in a home without stairs. If you want to give a sweet senior a loving home for her golden years, apply to meet sweet Athena today! *Athena has glaucoma and likely arthritis or dysplasia* Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
