Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. OSCAR requires an application to Best Friend Pet Adoption.  Please submit our dog adoption application now if you are interested in meeting him. The application is at:    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   This lovely little cutie was pulled from a rural shelter by BFPA on what was to be his last day. Oscar is a playful and friendly (maybe 1 to 2-year-old) 30 lb corgi mix dog who is dog and cat-friendly. He currently lives in a hectic home with 4 other dogs a cat, pet chickens, and even pet pigs - nothing fazes Oscar!  If you are looking for a great all-around best friend or family dog who loves to walk, play, socialize, cuddle, and have belly rubs, Oscar could be your pup!  He enjoys attention, is enthusiastic about life, and has fun in short bursts (no pun intended).  He was possibly kept as an outside dog in his early life and spent a month in the shelter, so he's re-learning house manners and is already doing great! He sleeps quietly in a crate all night!  He is currently heartworm positive which is a common condition for stray dogs and dogs that are not cared for properly.  Oscar is not contagious. He is being treated with monthly medication.  His condition is not showing any outward symptoms and he is otherwise a healthy dog. BFPA will provide the ongoing monthly medication until he tests negative for heartworms.  So an adopter will not be responsible for any medical costs involved in treating this condition.   Please submit an application and be approved to meet Oscar soon!     Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants who live within an hours drive of Cary NC. Story
Another one of our amazing dogs is ready to find a family to call his own - sweet Zee Zee was found as a stray on a backroad back in April 2024, more than likely dumped as sadly that seems to be happening more and more every single day. Nobody claimed him so he became part of the rescue with an amazing foster Mom, Amber Zee came to us not neutered, anemic and heartworm positive - we have completed all his medical care now and he is doing great Zee is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 18 pounds. We do think there is some possible corgi in there along with maybe some chihuahua - regardless he is an amazing boy When I asked his foster Mom what would be the best home for him she said a "lazy home" lol - this boy likes to sit on a lap and cuddle. Every once in a while he will play with a toy but he is more about his people - he likes to be close. He is fostered with other dogs and does not really play with them and seems to prefer the female over the male but no aggressive behavior so a home with other dogs would be okay but he would also be ok as a only dog . He does great on a leash and enjoys walks and loves to ride in the car. He is housebroken as well. And he is fostered with cats with no issues. He has not been around kids but with his love of people, older kids would be fine. But really if you are looking for a very loyal companion to keep you company - Zee would be perfect for that. Zee's adoption fee is $250.00 - he is neutered, he has completed his heartworm treatment and is current on his monthly heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention, current on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped and has had a full bloodwork panel done. If you are interested in adopting this special boy - please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our applications. As a reminder we do not have a facility - all of our dogs are in private foster home throughout Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina - we require the application to be filled out first before we will set up a meet and greet - vet references are done as well as a home visit Lets find Zee the perfect home
