Story
Do you need a little sunshine in your life? Someone that makes you smile every day. That’s me! Maddie here; my foster mom wanted me to tell you a bit about myself to see if you will be my forever home. She’s pretty smitten and doesn’t think she could be objective so here goes. Since my past is unknown, the best guess is that I was well cared for. I am equally happy calmly greeting men and women; noises don’t seem to bother me, I don’t mind being handled, you can touch my feet look in my ears and my mouth. I do prefer a gentle touch so young children might be a bit much right now. While I enjoy this calm household I also like being out and about exploring Colorado! I am a demure, petite girl who probably shouldn’t weigh more than 30 pounds. Why do I put it that way? Well it looks like I’m part corgi and those little rascals tend to gain weight.  At this point I’m on the thin side and need to eat three times a day but once I’m up to my desired weight, it will be important to make sure I get plenty of exercise and a proper diet. I need some playtime and a couple miles of walks a day. I really think I will enjoy hiking. In addition to enjoying my walks, my mom is amazed at my leash skills. I even step over my leash so I don’t get tangled. I walk nicely on leash and while I am curious about other dogs, I am not reactive. At home in the yard I love romping in the new snow and sunning myself in the leaves. I self entertain, but I also like to play with other dogs.  I definitely want a house with a yard. Why pray tell? Did I tell you I was a well mannered lady? I like to do my business in the yard, thank you very much, plus I like to run around and play. I am house trained and will let you know when I need to go outside and will do my business fairly quickly in the yard. I like you to go out there with me and spend a few minutes to make sure that I’ve completed this task. I mean, dogs should not be left unattended in the yard anyway right? I sleep quietly all night in my crate and even put myself to bed. When my mom puts me in my crate to be safe when she leaves, I can be vocal at times.  I have to be quiet before she lets me out when she gets back and I’m starting to learn that she will be returning. I am generally quiet in the house and in the yard. When you have been gone, I will talk to you when you return. I am not destructive in fact, I don’t  know what toys are so chewing on things really isn’t in my wheelhouse.  I am playful and happy. I will greet you with a tail wag and even a hug. I like to be near you, but I am not obsessive. My foster mom says I am just the sweetest thing and she doesn’t understand how I ended up in a shelter. It does look like I may have had puppies at a young age, thank goodness that’s not going to happen again. My ideal home would be a single-family home with a yard and people who want to spend time with me. Want to learn more about me, what are you waiting for? Fill out that application and let’s meet! Thank you so much for reading my story. Love, Maddie If you're interested in meeting me please fill out an application at www.thegooddogrescue.org (If you already have an approved application, please email thegooddogrescueadoptions@gmail.com with your interest in me!) My adoption fee is $300 and I am spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations ##2238063##

Story
Meet Buster! Buster is a happy-go-lucky little sausage! We think his slinky body is because he couldn't fit all of the love he has to give in his original one - so he grew to accommodate that big heart! In the short time we've known Buster, he has been nothing but affectionate. He loves head scratches and will put his head on your knee for more; lovingly staring at you until you politely oblige! He knows how to train his humans... Buster is looking for his forever home now - can you be the heart he hopes to crawl inside?

Story
Eden is an approx 18 mos old 24# petite Corgi. She was surrendered by her family who was no longer able to take care of her. Eden is a busy and active little girl who loves people. She’d do very well with an active canine playmate who doesn’t mind the occasional nip or muzzle punch to initiate more play and enjoys being chased. We think Eden spent a good portion of her time outdoors previously so is learning to be an inside dog. She’s had some potty accidents indoors but for the most part goes outside to do her business when accompanied by her human. She’ll need consistent support and positive reinforcement to continue her potty training and someone home to go in and out with her during the day. She has been sleeping in her crate with some protest but her new person will need to make sure that she potties before bed or you’ll be getting a wake up call about  2-3 AM . She thinks napping and snuggling in the big bed with her human is pretty amazing. She doesn’t know many cues but does know her name and has a good recall. Eden gets along with most dogs with slower introductions (she can be spicy with unfamiliar dogs who don’t respect her space) but a patient, higher energy pup would be an ideal companion. We have not cat or kid tested her but recommend no cats as she is very herdy and kids 8+. Eden requires a herding breed experienced owner and a fenced in yard; she is not a good fit for an apartment situation. She would appreciate daily walks and/or runs and she is good on the leash. She would likely get kicked out of a dog park for trying to be the fun police. Eden needs an active home with humans who will include her in their daily activities and teach her fun things. She would love to learn a dog sport and/or have a job. Eden is spayed, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. If you are interested in meeting Eden you can complete our meet and greet application as the first step. We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Eden’s adoption fee is $450 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado. She’ll be available  after 7/4 . November 2, 2024, 3:49 pm

Story
Apple and his brother were found dumped in the desert in NM when they were just babies. They are approx 6 months old now and 20#. We believe that they are Cowboy Corgi mixes. Apple has a very sweet demeanor and loves being near his people. Apple is good with other dogs, respectful children 6+, and strangers. He has not been tested with cats. He enjoys snuggling with his human, chewing on bully sticks, and getting frozen kong toys. Apple requires a secure fenced in yard with humans who aren’t gone long hours. These pups are nearly potty trained but need let out often and late at night to do their final business. He will sleep in or out of his crate. Apple has learned to walk on a leash and is doing great. These pups love to eat which is good because they need to gain some more weight. Apple will often try and steal food so needs to be monitored if there’s another dog. They are a bit introverted and shy at first but warm quickly with soft talk and snacks. He will do well in a structured suburban or rural environment with active humans and lots of attention. A basic puppy training class would do wonders to build their confidence and teach them fun cues. If you’re interested in meeting Apple, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms as the first step. We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Apple is neutered, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $400 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.November 14, 2024, 7:55 pm

Story
If you are looking to add some sweetness to your life, look no further then Archie. Archie is a two and a half year old, 35 pound Corgi, maybe Corgi mix with a such a sweet, gentle nature. He was surrendered to CCFR by his family who were moving out of state and had too many dogs to take him along with them. Archie has led a fairly sheltered life, pretty limited to his family, home, and back yard. He is shy at first meeting but does warm up and gives great, full body wags. He’s a pretty mellow guy, but has recently discovered he has Corgi related opinions on noises and people outside so an apartment situation is not a good fit. He is content to hang out with you in the home but would like some adventure time as well. He is potty trained, crate trained, and non-destructive in the home. He walks nicely on leash despite his lack of experience with it. His immunizations are up to date, he is neutered, microchipped, and heart worm negative. He would do well in a home with a secure, fenced yard, with someone who is more at home than not to help him learn about this big world and develop his confidence. He is not cat tested or young child tested. He might be ok with older, respectful children. He would do well with another congenial dog in the home but not do as well if the other dog is very dominant because then his confidence would never get the chance to develop. He could stand to shed a few pounds so daily walks and getting him out to experience more of the world as well as monitored feedings are required. He would be a great companion dog for someone as he is so in-tune with the humans around him. If you are interested in meeting Archie and possible adoption, please complete the Meet and Greet/Adoption Application under forms. We require an application, references, home check, and that Archie meet all those living in the home. Archie’s adoption fee is $400 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.November 6, 2024, 2:36 pm
