Story
Pembroke Welsh Corgi Mix Age: Senior Male, neutered 20 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Llew was picked up by animal control off the streets of Hayward. He was unable to use his back legs. Otherwise he seemed in fairly good shape. He must not have been on the streets for long. It is suspected that he had a back problem (IVDD) that was never treated. He has responded well to anti-inflammatory and pain medications. He has gained some use of his back legs (he can stand and walk a few steps). He has been in physical therapy for a few months. UPDATE: With diligent persistence from his foster home, Llew is walking again on his back legs. He is a little wobbly, but he is using his back legs all the time - no more dragging. For all he has been through, he has an excellent demeanor - very friendly, very loving. He can come off as a little “pushy” to some dogs, but overall he gets along well with all the dogs in his foster home. He needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. He would prefer a home with another friendly dog. Nobody’s Perfekt Dogs is willing to assist with his vet costs, if needed. Even though he has regained the ability to walk with his hind legs, the jury is still out on whether he has control of his bladder and bowels. He appears to pee when he goes outside, but he doesn't stop and pee. Similarly, he doesn't stop and poop - it just comes out when it is ready. For more information about Llew, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, February 8th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700 **Meet Grilled Cheese – The Perfect Blend of Sweet and Savory!**   Grilled Cheese, or just 'Cheese' for short, is a 4-5 year old CKC Spaniel/Corgi mix who weighs a delightful 20 pounds of pure charm. Rescued from the shelter, she has settled into her foster home with ease, quickly discovering her favorite dog bed in the bedroom as her go-to relaxation spot. Cheese starts her day with a leisurely wake-up around 7:30-8:00 AM, followed by breakfast and a well-deserved nap. She enjoys two daily walks where she takes her time sniffing around the block. She’s easily re-directable with the right motivation—treats! At night, she curls up in the same bed as her humans, making her the ultimate low-maintenance cuddle companion.   Though a bit shy at first, Cheese’s affectionate personality quickly shines through. She loves pets and cuddles but isn't the type to demand constant attention. Instead, she strikes a perfect balance between being independent yet loving. Cheese enjoys the company of other dogs. She’s eager to make friends and can be enthusiastic. With her calm and gentle demeanor, she might do well with older kids and would likely prefer a cat-free household.   Cheese is the definition of an easygoing pup. She has short bursts of playful energy but is happiest lounging around and enjoying life at a laid-back pace. She’s quiet, well-mannered, and incredibly adaptable, making her an excellent fit for just about any home—whether it’s a bustling family household or a cozy companion for someone looking for a loyal, undemanding friend. If you're looking for a dog who’s happy to join you on a walk or just as content curling up in her bed, Grilled Cheese is ready to melt your heart and become your perfect match.February 9, 2025, 3:24 pm

At 2 years old and 20 pounds, Talenti is the perfect blend of Corgi charm and Pug personality. If you’ve ever wished your ice cream could cuddle you back, this little guy is here to make your dreams come true! With the compact cuteness of a Corgi and the soulful eyes of a Pug, Talenti is the ultimate pint-sized companion—always ready to play, snuggle, and melt right into your heart (but thankfully, not your couch). Talenti settled into his foster home as if he had always belonged, immediately befriending two large dogs, two kids (ages 6 and 11), and a very unimpressed senior cat. He plays a mean game of fetch, loves tug-of-war, and has been known to zoom after a ball with fearless enthusiasm—even when his 70-pound foster sibling is chasing the same one. After playtime, he’s happy to curl up for a nap, preferably in your office while you work, because he takes his role as “supportive coworker” very seriously. His specialties? Quality control on belly rubs and making sure your feet never get lonely. Talenti is polite on walks, doesn’t pull on the leash, and doesn’t bark at other dogs—he’s more of a “silent observer” when it comes to neighborhood happenings. He’s still perfecting his housetraining (a.k.a. learning that outside is the best bathroom), but he’s crate-trained, sleeps through the night, and has mastered the doggy door with the help of his foster siblings. He may occasionally steal a shoe, but don’t worry—he’s more of a collector than a chewer, like a tiny, four-legged museum curator. While Talenti isn’t a couch potato, he would like to be a couch dog—if only his foster family allowed it! He’s a certified love bug who will happily flop onto his back for belly rubs at a moment’s notice. He’d thrive in a home with another playful dog, a yard to zoom around in, and someone who works from home so he can provide his expert companionship services full-time. If you're looking for a sweet, loving, playful pup who will follow you from room to room (but also respect your need for alone time), Talenti is the perfect mix. And unlike the Talenti in your freezer, this one will never run out—he’ll just keep filling your life with joy!Talenti is an option for a home that has limited experience with dogs or any kind of experience level. If there are children they need to be over the age of 5.February 12, 2025, 2:08 pm

Story
Clover is a sweet, loving girl who wants nothing more than to be your best friend and companion. She adores cuddles, belly rubs and kisses. SHe sometimes feels frustrated by her low stature and jumps up for attention - but very sweetly and she can learn of course not too - she loves to cuddle on a chair or couch! Clover can be shy at first when meeting strangers - but that is dissipating, she is also somewhat of a party girl - loving her doggie companions, she races around on her short legs - and is actually very responsive and good on off leash hikes! Clover loves to play with her foster home dogs and has helped mama Maggie raise her pups as an Auntie! She and tall Maggie are an adorable fun-loving duo! (Just in case you are considering two dogs!) Wrestling, chasing each other and tugging on dog toys. They eat, take treats and share toys comfortably. Clover would do best having a dog buddy in the home since it seems to help her feel more confident and at easy. She does love her people very much. and will happily climb on a lap, sit next to you on the sofa, or curl up next to you in the office while you are working. Clover is house-trained, uses a doggie door with ease, or just needs her walks and time in a yard She walks great on leash and knows some basic commands, and will tolerate nail trims. Clover gets nervous when she is left alone but does better when she has a canine friend for company. She paces a bit, and cries a little, but eventually settles down. With just a little time and training this pretty (and goofy!) girl will be a fantastic and loving addition to your home.
