Meet Dosom!  He is the sweetest most adorable boy - a little shy from everything he has been through but wants to lovel! He is a 7 month old that was rescued from the streets of South Korea after being hit by a car.  He was destined for the dog meat trade if he had not been rescued in time.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Dosom and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app November 20, 2024, 10:04 pm

How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on October 17, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:This little trooper is Buzz! Buzz was brought to us after a run in with a coyote that left him in rough shape. But after lots of TLC, he's ready to find his new furever home. Buzz can be a little nervous at the vet's office so we strongly suggest finding a veterinarian that practices Fear Free techniques to make this little guy as comfortable as possible with any future visits. While Buzz has started to come out of his shell with familiar handlers in our care, he can be a little shy when first meeting new people. Because of that, if children are in the home they must be 8 years or older. Once Buzz is comfortable with you, he is a real love bug and will climb into your lap for endless kisses and snuggles. But don't be fooled, this cutie little snuggle bug has boundless energy and loves to zoom around the yard too! 11/13/24- The boy is ready for his very own home. He was purchased as a puppy from an out of state breeder. Then sold again as a young pup. These people hit hard time and were living out of a motor home. He is house trained lives to go on walks. He will pull on the leash. He loves meeting nee people and he knows how to sit. His only flaw is his preference to be the only dog. He dosent mind walking past dogs. He just doesn't want another dog in the home to share attention with. He loves children of all sizes.
