Do Feist dogs shed?
Yes, Feist dogs do shed but are typically light to moderate shedders, and their fur is not prone to matting. Their short coats can be straight or slightly wiry, and their grooming requirements are low-maintenance and straightforward compared to breeds with longer or denser fur.
Brushing once every week with a slicker brush is sufficient to keep their coats healthy and remove loose hairs. Brushing helps to distribute natural oils throughout the coat, keeping it shiny and reducing shedding. During seasonal shedding periods in the spring and fall, you might need to brush them twice a week to manage the increased hair loss.
Bathing should be done as needed every few months or when the dog gets particularly dirty or develops an odor. Keep in mind that over-bathing can strip the coat of its natural oils, so it should be done sparingly. Using a mild dog shampoo is best to prevent skin irritation.
