Story
Grizzly is believed to be a wirehaired pointing griffon. He is true to his breed that he is smart and loves to stay busy. He does best with consistent training and a schedule. He is about 6 years old and is working on being socialized more than he was before coming to us. We are looking for him to have a mature household that will continue his training and give him an active lifestyle. We would invite anyone interested in grizzly to research the breed before considering him as a fit for their home. Due to his breed and lack of training, we ask for him to be the only pet in the home with no children. Even though he has many attributes of the breed; smart, and bonds to a family members. He also was not trained early so he does have anxiety that he will need to be worked through with positive reinforcement training only and would most likely not be able to build the training to be a hunting dog like most of his breedWe are pre-approving applicants. To schedule an appointment, first fill out our adoption application ( https://cb8f5fb7-0a87-40fa-8ea5-50c4da40acd3.filesusr.com/ugd/c8cb9f_8cd13866ecd54a42a2b424d2b2f8dc10.pdf ). This will ask you questions about which animal you’re interested in, your family, other furry members in the household, whether you own or rent your home and who your Veterinarian is. These allow us to make the best match possible. We touch base with your landlord due to the unfortunate number of landlords who do not allow pets in Franklin County. Our goal with checking in with your Veterinarian is to ensure that the animals of FCAR receive the medical care they deserve. Once we have a positive reference from your landlord (if you rent) and Veterinarian, we will contact you to schedule an appointment with us! If you don't have any pets we understand you would not have a vet reference and we ask for applicants to substitute a personal reference. Please keep in mind, appointments are first come, first serve, based on when your application is approved. Please be patient with your Veterinarian and landlord, as their staff and businesses have been affected by COVID-19 as well. We are incredibly thankful that there has been no shortage in interest! This being said, our staff is limited and we are doing our absolute best to approve applications in a timely manner. This process can take up to a few weeks, but most are approved before then.
