Because I am a soft and sensitive guy :) the SMARTER a dog is, the more SENSITIVE we are to stress and distress in unknown or overwhelming situations... So, I was shut down in the loud, never quiet pound environment :( However, in the last minutes before being taken back for euthanasia, a rescue foster met me and said, I WILL FOSTER!! AND THAT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.... SAVED MY LIFE! Well, now my life is all kinds of fun. I have foster brothers and sisters and a human brother. My foster mom loves me so much, but absolutely cautions to my new family that food (or even the possibility of food) sends me into a protection mode with my foster siblings (not my human sibling, but we will not adopt him into a home with small children- or as we call them, walking TREATS) and until he either gets trained out of it, or he get nutritionally stable, no food with any other dog around. FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Say hello to Lincoln! He is a very high energy, active and sweet 2-year-old, 40 lb Australian Shepherd. He is a happy boy and loves to get attention from his people! He will do great with a family that understands herding dogs and their needs. He can be strong willed and is still working on basic obedience and will need a family that will continue his training. He is working on not jumping up and mouthing right now so he needs an adult only home or a home with kids over 14. He is super sweet, but he has a lot of happy and unfocused energy. He is very smart and will thrive with training. He would love to be in a home in a suburban or rural neighborhood with a securely fenced yard for him to run and play. He will do best in a home where someone is home much of the time. He likes other dogs but can play very rough with them and would rather spend time with his humans so for that reason we are looking for a home for him as an only dog or with another dog who is able to handle his rough play. IMMEDIATE FOSTER NEEDED: Meet Fury! He is a 9-year-old, 55 lb Blue Merle AKC registered Australian Shepherd who was surrendered to us as his owner could no longer care for him. Fury loves to be petted, pampered and groomed. He likes playing by himself with soccer balls and plushie toys, tossing and chasing them around. He also loves to lounge in the sunshine! Fury would like to find himself his very own retirement home where he can be an only dog with his own securely fenced yard to relax in during the day, and a cozy kennel at night. He would do best in a home where he can be the only pet, soaking up all the love and attention. He walks well on a leash for the most part but can be leash reactive and he does not care for other male dogs or dogs who get in his face on leash. He would do best in a quiet suburban or rural neighborhood. Fury has been gentle with the young child in his previous home under supervision but in typical herding fashion nips at anyone who runs next to him, so it is recommended that he goes to an adult only home or with children over 12. Fury has recently had a dental and is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. As a senior boy, he deserves more than spending his golden years in a commercial kennel and we are looking for a foster family who want to love him and care for him for the rest of his life.
