Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:I prefer a family experienced with my breed. I have some behaviors and preferences that are typical for my breed and would do best with a family who understands my needs.I need a home without any cats, small dogs, or other small animals. I chase them and it's not safe for me to share my home or space with them.I'm an active dog! I would love to go home with a family who can help me burn off energy with exercise, playtime, and outdoor adventures.I love training! I could use some trainer support post-adoption to help me learn the best way to interact with the world, I'm still young and have a lot to figure out. Ask my friends at the Adoptions Desk for more information! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 56 Age: 0yrs 9mths 2wks

Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:I'd like a relaxed home. I wouldn't say I'm "old"... I've just been around for a while. And that's made me appreciate the finer things in life like naps in the sun, looking out windows, and the special joy when you're able to scratch juuuuust the right spot. I like to take it easy at home - I'm not up for lots of activity.I'm currently in foster and ready for my new home! If you're interested in meeting me, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org. Story
We are heartbroken to let Gemma go, but we feel it is in her best interest. We had an Aussie before and lost her in 2023. In May 2024 we purchased Gemma and her sister Luna from a breeder. Both dogs came to us ill and the breeder said nothing. She did not give us papers although they are suppose to be purebred, we have no paperwork to prove it. Both dogs are now healthy after us spending an incredible amount at the vet. For the 1st few months they were cooped up contagious with recurrent Giardia and UTI’s. Because of this, Gemma has develop a high level of anxiety, so we can’t even let her loose in a dog park, or take her on a walk without issues. My wife and I are in our 60’s and even though we had an Aussie for 13 years, we forgot how much exercise they need, at present we live in a manufactured home park with very little yard. I am disabled and my wife works full time, unfortunately the dogs aren’t getting what they need, which is consistent training and a place to run.

Story
Australian Shepherd + Labrador Retriever + German Shepherd Mix 10 months old Male 35 pounds Kids · 10+ Dogs · Yes Cats · No I don’t want to seem like a show-off or anything, but I am pretty sweet, and friendly, and affectionate with people... unless I am on leash! Goodness do I need help with my leash manners, I can pretty grumpy meeting new people and dogs on leash. I won’t mind sharing my home with kids 10+, or other dogs. I mean, they are all so much fun to play with! But I’m not to sure how to be friends with a kitty. I could run and wrestle and romp all day! I’m a pretty happy boy with a great attitude and a curious demeanor. I’ve got the brains to excel at arithmetic, but who am I kidding…I just can’t wait for recess! I’m super smart, playful, eager to please, and longing to be loved; so a family that is committed to working on continued training, giving me lots of guidance and structure is exactly what I need. I am teenager who is rebelling a little bit and need someone to help rein it in! Why not come in and meet me? I want so badly to show off what a cute fella I am! My adoption fee is $200 and includes microchip & registration, neuter, reduced-cost training class, free veterinary exam, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

Story
How stunning is Draco?? Can you believe a dog as unique looking as him almost lost his life in a high kill shelter? Neither can I. I rescued him and 3 others from that shelter on that day. He is so stunning and friendly and happy and good with other dogs. He will make heads turn everywhere you go and be the center of attention. He loves everyone he meets and will be great a companion to you. He is a young adult, so about 2-3 years old and weighs about 45 lbs. He walks well on the leash and does well in a crate. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Gunther was a part of a litter that did not have homes. My family and I took him in with hopes to find him a new home. We have had him in our care for several months but the previous home we found for him fell through. We are hoping to find him a different permanent home as we recently moved to a much smaller living space and he seems to be sad or anxious in the new environment as he cries often even when we attempt to meet his needs. I believe he needs more space and more attention then we are able to give him and I just want him to be happy somewhere. He is high energy. Still very puppy-like in that way and makes me nervous around my toddlers because he gets so excited. However there have never been any incidents between the children and Gunther. In fact, if you ask my 5 year old he loves him the most because he always gives him "kisses".
