Story
Cruzy came in as a stray, so we don't know if he likes kids, cats or pups yet, but what we do know is that he is curious, somewhat independent, but still loves a hug!! What he absolutely ADORES...are TREATS! Suddenly he heard "sit," and even offered to "shake paw" with zero hesitation! He'll also scavenge for them. 😅 Cruz is a low-key yet observant boy determined to make your home complete! And yes, he's got the cutest nubby tail! You can meet Cruz on our Dog Adoption Floor any time we're open, no appointment necessary!! updated 04/04/26

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Four year old Jersey came to the shelter with four other dogs from the same home, and has been by far the easiest to work with, to get out, and to convince that collars and leashes are okay. He'd had little handling prior to this, from the limited amount of knowledge we have about him, so we are happy to be able to help him become more social and outgoing. He is fine with other dogs and seems to be non-judgemental about cats in general. He played with puppies and was quite appropriate in his "favorite uncle" role!  He will most likely move to a home with fewer issues than many of the shelter dogs, and we hope he can be a good example to the others in that same home setting: you aren't going to die just because we ask you to wear a collar!  PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 10, 2026, 2:55 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Four years old, not well socialized, and had no clue about a leash and collar when she was brought to the shelter, from a family who gave up five of their dogs to the shelter due to personal illness. Blooper is needy as far as not having any confidence or skills navigating a home or a family around her, as she was kept outside. She has done fairly well learning that food is always abundant in her foster home, and the children in the family are learning that slow and steady is the best course to take around her. She is a beautiful girl who needs time, and lots of it, to become confident.  PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA.
