Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.handsome fluffy guy ISO home! TRIGGER NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Trigger       Best Guess for Breed:   Australian shepherd and Bernese Mountain Dog mix Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of November 2024   Gender:  Male Approximate Weight:   49 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up after completing heartworm treatment Special Adoption Considerations: Trigger is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Trigger is Looking For: His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this fluffy sweetie ended up in the shelter. He's eagerly looking forward to once again having his own humans for long sniffy walks and romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up.  Trigger is an active boy who likes to rough house with other dogs. He's a 'tag, you're it' kind of playmate. To keep Trigger happy, plan on giving him the opportunity to run each and every day.  Trigger has those soulful eyes that suck you in and he is such a huggable floof - he's got that solid presence. And he promises to always keep that solid presence right by your side - he wants nothing more than to be a loyal companion and know he's safe and loved in exchange. What do you say? Is he the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Gus is a 4-year old purebread Mini Australian Shepherd. We are looking to rehome him because the combination of his fear-based reactivity and our now having young children (a 1-year old and 1 on the way) is no longer compatible. Gus has had behavioral issues as a puppy - he is reactive towards other dogs and should be kept at a distance. While OK with adults, he needs time to get familiar with new people and does best if allowed to go at his own pace. Treats help. Like all Aussies, Gus requires lots of mental and physical activity. Musts: home with a yard where he can run and play in a safe environment; an owner committed to continuing his behavioral training with a no-fear policy; no other pets or young children. Despite his behavioral issues, Gus is a truly wonderful dog. He is sweet and loving to those he trusts. He is playful, goofy, cuddly, and full of energy. Current medications: Gabapentin, Sertraline, and Clonidine.

Story
Grimmy does amazing as a single dog home. He wants to please owner and needs tasks to do. He is neutered and has a lot of energy. Grimmy is selective with people and doesn’t trust just anyone or any dog. Takes warming up to do. He is the sweetest pup and loves to play and frisbee. He was initially adopted by a military family and couldn’t take care of him as a puppy. He has working dog tendencies and requires someone with a home. I am working in DCA and will be on a small apartment with my female Weimaraner.

Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Lora Lee is a very sweet dog that is just 2 years old and weighs 42 pounds.  She is said to be an Aussie mix with some Terrier.  Whatever the mix is we think she is a most unusual and truly a beautiful girl who well with other dogs in her foster home.  She is a friend to all and apparently she is house trained as long as taken out regular. Lola Lee is crate trained but cannot be left for long hours in the crate.  She is not leash trained  but is trying to improve.   We are requesting that applicants have a fenced yard for her because she is an active girl that needs to run and play with freedom and not at the end of a leash only. This beauty loves to cuddle and be by your side like your BFF and shadow. If you have another dog that would be great for her to have a playmate that can help her wear out her energy every day.  Lola Lee is a great girl and she is going to need an active family that can challenge and meet her need for exercise and be able to keep up with her.   She is really not a dog for a retirement couple that are ready to have a more laidback dog with fewer exercise demands.  If you are interested in this girl please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 11, 2024, 7:28 pm
