To learn more about Duke, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Duke will be at one of our adoption events this weekend! Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Duke is a friendly, fun-loving boy who’s always ready for his next adventure. He can get excited when you first meet him but he settles quickly. Once outside, Duke is all about exploring, sniffing, strolling, and soaking in the world around him. He loves being outside. He enjoys meeting both people and dogs and gets excited to say hi. Duke knows some basics like sit and shake, and loves treats (and takes them gently!). Sweet, social, and full of joyful energy, Duke would be a great match for someone who enjoys walks, playtime, and wants an affectionate companion by their side. Duke is looking for stability and a home to love him forever. Come meet this good boy! You won’t regret it!

Story
To learn more about Bert, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Meet Bert, your new snuggly adventure buddy! Bert is an energetic 3-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with the heart of a giant marshmallow. He’s a friendly, people-loving goofball who thinks life is best lived at full speed—unless it’s couch-snuggle time, in which case he melts into you like warm butter. He loves meeting new humans and bonds with his people quickly. This handsome guy is an adventurer at heart. He’s thoroughly enjoyed park strolls, backyard zoomies, fetch marathons, and sniffing every interesting smell within a 5-mile radius. He’s also impressively smart—he already knows “sit,” “heel,” “lie down,” and “come,” and will stop what he’s doing with just a clap (basically dog magic). Bert can get a bit overexcited around some dogs and when he spots squirrels or birds, so walks with him are never boring. Because of his abundant zest for life, a home with adults or older teens is ideal. Once he burns off his energy, he settles into a calm, easygoing companion who loves napping nearby and checking in for the occasional dose of affection. At his core, Bert is a sweet, affectionate, hilarious pup who wants a home where he can run, play, explore, and then flop dramatically onto you for love. Loyal, cuddly, and full of personality, he’ll bring tons of joy—and plenty of funny stories—to whoever adopts him. Come meet Bert today and get ready to fall in love with this fun-loving guy!

Please contact Chandler Jaffe (chandler.jaffe@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small pup, huge heart!KORN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:    Korn       Best Guess for Breed:    Australian shepherd/terrier mix    Best Guess for Age:   9 weeks as of 12/29/25            SEX:  male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):   5lbs as of 12/29/25   Gets Along With:        Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at: DC area foster home   Special Adoption Considerations:       Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Korn is Looking For:    Hiya! I'm Korn! Me and my littermates, Kadence, Kellie, Korey, Kelp, Kelsey, and Khalid have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me? What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 4/23/2026. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet girl ISO fresh start and love!GABY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Gaby    Best Guess for Breed:  Australian shepherd and retriever mix Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of November 2025       SEX:  Female  Approximate Weight:   45 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs!  We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!  Currently Living at:   DC area foster home Gaby is Looking For:   Her forever home! Gaby landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and is eager to once again have her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are also on her wish list but you know what? She's out of the puppy yips and knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under her own roof. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and love and loyal companionship for all her days.  What do you say? Is Gaby the one for your home and your heart?  What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent time in foster care.  Special adoption considerations: Gaby is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
