Story
This stunning guy is Misio, pronounced 'Misho' which is Polish for Teddy Bear. Misio is a 7.5 year old Australian Shepherd who is currently on a diet to get to his ideal weight of about 37 pounds. Misio is looking for a patient and mature household to live the rest of his years. He is working through some trust issues and is learning to let his guard down. But once he knows you are safe, he will be yours forever. Misio likes to be near people but isnt overly cuddly, he is content to be in his own space near you. He'd do best in a home with adults only and no other animals. Misio is still very active and he would love to be your hiking, camping, or running companion! He is very outgoing and loves to chase a ball around the yard. He is also very smart and picks up on training quickly. Misio needs a forever home that can provide him with mental stimulation and a physical outlet. He can be chill in the house, but is also not a couch potato. He is house trained and crate trained and walks well on leash. With a little bit of training, a dash of patience, and a person who will be active with him, Misio will be an amazing companion for years to come! Dogs are not placed on a first- come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Misio, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-application If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationNovember 8, 2024, 5:36 am

Story
Kayli came to her foster mom sick and at a very unhealthy weight. After a lengthy nutrition and weight loss program this adorable girl is ready to find her forever home! She was at a point where she could barely walk and now she loves a nice race around the backyard or to fetch her toys for you. She is a supreme cuddle bug and can't get close enough to her people. Tummy rubs might be her favorite thing and if you pet her she will adorably fling herself to the ground to better accommodate you. She loves walks but is also content to just stay home with you, too. She does have a problem with excited barking but she calms down after a short time. She just loves every single person she meets and can't control her excitement at first. She also loves children and children love her but because of her initial excited barking she can sometimes scare them so an initial leash greeting would be best with small children. She loves other dogs but if they get in her face too much she can sometimes be a little snippy. She has done well in her foster home with another older dog and, for a short stint, she had a blast with a big, goofy young boy that was recently adopted. Kayli has a 'cherry eye' (where the tear duct has popped out under the eyelid) that her owner chose not to fix as it doesn't bother her at all, but because of that it has been too long to do anything about it. It doesn't bother her and requires no attention. Would like to meet this cute girl?Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Story
Aunt Bethany is an 11-year-old Red Heeler with a confident and happy spirit. At 63 lbs, she’s currently working on reaching her ideal weight of 45-50 lbs, so she’ll need daily walks and a family committed to helping her stay active and healthy. This mellow lady is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She gets along well with other dogs and even cats, but she values her personal space and prefers that others respect it when she’s relaxing. Aunt Bethany’s favorite pastime is chewing on her toys, and she’ll happily entertain herself with them in between naps.Aunt Bethany takes daily pain medication to manage arthritis, which helps keep her comfortable and ensures she can enjoy her golden years. Regular vet care and moderate exercise will also support her overall health.Though she’s a senior, Aunt Bethany still has a playful side that will make you smile. She’s best suited for a family with older kids who understand her need for boundaries. Whether in a home with a yard or an apartment, she’ll thrive as long as she has a cozy spot to call her own and people who understand her unique personality. If you’re looking for a loyal and quirky companion who will brighten your days, Aunt Bethany is ready to meet her forever family! Story
This adorable guy is Luca, 11 week old Aussie mix. He is learning all the great things in life after being rescued from the shelter. He's a very playful and active puppy and will need a family willing to continue working on his training and give him lots of attention and activity as well as socialization with both humans and other animals. He is a little shy at first but will bond quickly to his new human. He loves to cuddle and snuggle in his foster mom's lap. He loves chasing a ball and his frog squeaky toy is his favorite! He is doing great with crate training and sleeps all night in his crate, and is comfortable crated when home alone. He's catching on to potty training and goes potty outside most of the time. He uses potty pads in his crate if left too long between outside breaks. He rarely has accidents in the house. He would love a playful dog friend in his new home. He is interested in cats and will chase after them because they seem like fun to play with too, but with redirection he will leave them alone. In true puppy style he likes to nibble and mouth anything he can. His new family will need to continue working with him on what he can chew on and children in his new home need to be a little older so they understand puppy interactions and behavior. Luca will be a great hiking and adventure buddy, he's learning to walk with a leash and doing well with that too. Luca is such a sweet and loveable guy, he will be a great addition to his new family!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Story
Meet Katy – The Sweetest Sidekick You Could Ask For!Katy is a 7-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her smile. She came to Salt Lake City as part of an effort to help dogs impacted by the LA fires, and now she’s looking for a forever home where she can continue her journey to a happy, healthy life! Katy is a friendly, laid-back girl who believes every person she meets is just a friend she hasn’t made yet. She’s wonderful with other dogs (though she’s more of a polite observer than a playmate), and she’s also great with cats and even chickens! This easygoing lady is fully housebroken and completely trustworthy in the home—no need for a crate. She’s content to be left alone while you’re out, but she’ll be your best couch buddy when you’re home. Katy enjoys leisurely walks (she’s a dream on leash!) and is making great progress on her weight loss journey. Because of some arthritis from carrying extra weight, she’d do best in a home with minimal stairs. Katy’s lower energy level makes her a fantastic match for first-time dog owners, apartment dwellers, or anyone looking for a relaxed, affectionate companion. Whether it’s a stroll around the block or a cozy night in, Katy is always up for whatever makes you happy—because making her people happy is what she does best. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and low-maintenance best friend, Katy is your girl! Come meet her today!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Story
Louie is a 10-12 week old Aussie mix with the most captivating eyes you’ll ever see. He was just 2.7 pounds, compared to his littermates (who were all around 6 pounds), when we found him, so he’ll likely stay small and mighty! Louie is full of puppy energy, he loves toys and enjoys playing with other dogs. While he’s not yet tested with cats, he’s easygoing with kids and doesn’t mind the hustle and bustle of a busy home. Louie’s already learned how to use the dog door about 80% of the time, but he’s still working on perfecting his housebreaking. Like any young pup, he’s got a lot to learn, so he’ll thrive with a patient family ready to guide him in becoming the best boy he can be. If you’re looking for a playful, sweet companion with a lot of potential, Louie is your guy! Louie has been neutered, is current on age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped.
