Story
Zuri is a beautiful 4 year old male Australian Shepherd looking for a forever home after his family/owner's went through a major lifestyle change that would not be fair for him in the long run. His entire support system is dedicated to finding him a great home where he will be fulfilled, loved and brought to his full potential. His adoption comes with mandatory (free) training follow ups with Val Groulx from Calm & Collect Canine. After completing a Board & Train program, Zuri has a great foundation with a 5 word marker system, basic obedience (sit, down, stand, place, recall, heel, out, crate, all with an auto stay), is muzzle conditioned, e collar trained and is only starting! Zuri is a sweet sensitive boy who absolutely adores his family/owner's. He’s not much of a snuggler but likes to always have access to his people so for that reason, he’s looking for a family/owner's who will be dedicated to creating a healthy relationship and placing boundaries right off the bat so that separation anxiety does not become a problem. Being vocal as a result of the separation anxiety has happened in the past so an apartment setting might not be the best for this boy. Zuri is a silly, happy go lucky dog who loves going on adventures, long walks, exploring new trails, running, swimming, learning and playing. He has high energy and stamina but can also enjoy a day off once in a while. He loves being outside whether that’s running around like crazy or just laying in the sun so someone who’s active and loves the outdoors is a must. He’s friendly with other dogs and is in a pack regularly at daycare but he’s shown resource guarding with toys and treats in the past so a home with another dog can be considered as long as it’s a non-confrontational dog and the family/owner's are ready to keep safety and management protocols in place.  Given his breed, sensitivity and lack of exposure to kids in his early years Zuri’s quite nervous around them and their quick movements so applicants with kids under 12 years old or with the plan of having kids in the next 2 years will not be considered. Age: 4 years Weight: 50 lbs Breed: Australian Shepherd Neutered: Yes Vaccinated: Yes House-trained: Yes Crate-trained: Yes Medical conditions: None Energy level: Very high Good with dogs: Yes, with limitations Good with cats: Untested (has prey drive) Good with kids: No (12+ may be considered) Ideal home: Active household familiar with working breeds; structured environment with boundaries, training, and opportunities for physical and mental engagement; calm space to decompress This is a courtesy LIsting. Story
Oreo is a 3-year-old male Border Collie/Jindo mix who was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Sadly, and for unknown reasons, before finding himself abandoned and alone at the shelter, his teeth had been deliberately ground down. Amazingly and despite this, he remains a lively, energetic, and otherwise healthy dog who is remarkably intelligent, craves human interaction, and is very loyal to his guardian. Oreo has the exceptional intelligence typical of Border Collies, fully understanding various commands such as "sit," "wait," and "house." He is also deeply loyal to his guardian and has a strong capacity for forming deep bonds typical of the Jindo breed. He is truly a remarkable dog who has the capacity to grow into an even more amazing companion through continued obedience training and by establishing a trusting relationship with his guardian. Oreo is incredibly affectionate and loves people. He is also very social and gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a habit of jumping when excited, which requires caution when a person is interacting with him in a low position. With consistent training, this behavior can be corrected. Being highly energetic, Oreo possesses excellent jumping ability. At the training center, he has been known to leap over fences—not out of a desire to escape, but due to his curiosity and strong attachment to his guardian. In fact, he has demonstrated behavior where he jumps over a fence when he hears his guardian's voice outside, only to return shortly after. For this reason, families with yards should ensure proper supervision, and a high-fenced environment may be more suitable. The Ideal Family for Oreo is: ✔️ Someone who understands the high intelligence and energy levels of Border Collies, the exceptional loyalty of Jindos, and can provide sufficient mental and physical stimulation ✔️ Someone with experience in training or handling large dogs ✔️ Someone who values bonding with their dog and is ready to build a deep connection ✔️ Someone who can provide ample space for Oreo to move and exercise freely Despite his heartbreaking past, Oreo still loves people and finds his greatest happiness in being with his guardian. With so much intelligence and energy, he has limitless potential to become the perfect lifelong companion if he meets the right family, one that understands him and is ready to provide him with love, care, and proper training. Oreo is waiting for his new family! ❤️
