Story
URGENT Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Lenoir, NC Meet Ranger! He is an 1 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs between 50-60 lbs. He isn’t neutered, up to date on shots, or on heartworm prevention. Ranger is nervous around strangers! No children, cats, or dogs, due to his reactivity! Ranger is housebroken and crate-trained. He came from an abusive household in his previous home. The current owner is surrendering him because he is aggressive towards her other dogs. He needs to go immediately! If you think you can provide a great home for Ranger, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Ranger. Owner’s Contact Information: Whitney at whitneylee00@gmail.com.

Story
All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate). Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions. Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!   Meet Frankie, the gorgeous Aussie. She came to the AHHS after being passed around from owner to owner. Frankie's first had owners that were elderly and did not have the time/energy for her. Her second owner was a younger individual, but they worked long work hours and made the decision to surrender her. We had what was seemingly the perfect person come along for her, however, it was later determined that she would do best as the only dog in the home.  We are requiring Frankie's adopter to either be experienced with her breed or be willing to do research. She deserves a loving, forever home.  An ideal candidate for Frankie would be someone home often, that is active and has no other dogs in the household. She is insanely intelligent, very motivated to learn, and loves to please. She loves to cuddle up with her person(s).  If interested in learning more about Frankie, please contact Halee at Halee@ahhumanesociety.org or apply online at ahhumanesociety.org.November 5, 2024, 6:39 pm

Story
Atlas is just over a year old, born completely deaf! He's up to date on all shots and was just neutered a couple months ago. He is crate trained and knows "sit" and "come here" in ASL. He has lived with cats and dogs (and does currently) and has had no issues. We love Atlas, but unfortunately need to rehome him because we discovered that our cat is absolutely terrified of larger dogs. We tried to make it work, but our animals just aren't compatible. We feel awful, because Atlas hasn't done anything to make the cat scared of him. He NEEDS someone who has the time, money, and energy to train a deaf dog. The only issue we've had with him is that he is aggressive towards the vet. No one else at the vet's office, never other animals, just specifically the vet themself. He also sometimes freaks out if a stranger surprises him, due to being deaf. He comes with his vet paperwork, a heavy duty leash/harness, collar, crate, etc.
