This is a Courtesy post for a family in Mount Laurel NJ looking to rehome their dog Misty. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Misty is a 4-year-old spayed 50 lb. Australian Shepherd mix (photos attached). We adopted her during the pandemic, and consequently, early on, she did not have much contact with other people. We are reluctantly surrendering her due to family medical reasons. She is a loving dog and does well in out-of-home environments. While she is not good with smaller dogs, when she is at our son's home, she plays well with his dog, who is a bit larger than her. She is also aggressive with smaller children (nips at them), so I would not recommend a home with any kids younger than teenagers. She plays well at dog parks - she's a bit of a wallflower, but when other dogs indicate they want to play, she often joins in. I always take her to the 50 lb and up section of Swede's Run Park. Misty would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, which we don't have. When she visits my son's house, she enjoys running around his fenced yard with his dog. We adopted Misty during the pandemic. She is a good dog and obeys commands. But my wife and I are in our mid 70s and have trouble walking this 50 lb dog. She lunges after squirrels and some people to the point where she pulls us over. Both of us have been injured by this behavior and we need to find a home where she can run free without encountering other dog walkers or delivery people.
