Story
Meet Sage, a stunning little beauty who is as sweet as she is adorable! This 20-pound, 2-year-old doodle mix is a fluffy bundle of affection who seems like she was designed for maximum sweetness. With her soft curls, little black spots, bright eyes, and a tail that never stops wagging, Sage brings sunshine into every room she enters. Sage is gentle, affectionate, and endlessly loving—she’s a natural cuddler who truly believes laps were made just for her. She’s incredibly social and friendly with people, kids, and other dogs. Curious without being chaotic, she’s the perfect balance of playful and calm. Some of Sage’s favorite things include belly rubs (the more, the better), short walks followed by long cuddle sessions, soft squeaky toys, and simply being close to her humans—she’s a certified Velcro dog! Sage would thrive in a home looking for a loyal, loving companion. Whether you’re a family, a couple, or a solo adopter, she’ll fit right in. She’s small enough for apartment living, but her personality is big enough to fill an entire home. Why you’ll love her? Sage is the kind of dog who greets you like you’ve been gone for years—even if you just stepped into the other room. Sweet, steady, and full of heart, this black-and-white doodle mix is ready to become someone’s whole world. Sage is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. Her adoption fee is $600. Sage is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. "To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Elysia! Elysia is a beautiful 1½-year-old female Mini Australian Shepherd, weighing in at 31 pounds, with a wonderful balance of playful energy and sweet affection. She’s the kind of dog who loves to explore the world with you and then happily curl up on the couch when it’s time to relax. True to her Aussie roots, Elysia is smart, curious, and very aware of her surroundings. She enjoys playtime, being silly, and showing off her fun personality, but she also loves giving kisses and settling in close to her people. She would thrive with a family who enjoys being active and spending time outdoors, whether that’s walks, adventures, or playtime together. On leash, Elysia does well overall and may tug a bit when she’s excited or interested in something new, something that will continue to improve with consistency and practice. She’s friendly and social when meeting other dogs and enjoys canine companionship. Elysia is mostly housetrained and will do best with a structured routine of regular walks and outings to help her continue building good habits. When it comes to cats, Elysia is still learning boundaries. Like many young herding breeds, she can be curious and may show interest or attempt playful chasing, so a home that can provide guidance, management, and slow introductions would be ideal. She may do well with a dog savvy cat. Elysia is a loving, fun, and engaging companion who would make a fantastic adventure buddy for the right home, especially one that appreciates the intelligence, curiosity, and heart that make Aussies so special. She is being fostered in Staten Island and her adoption fee is $475. Story
Meet Kepler! Kepler is a 6 month old, 29 pound Australian shepherd mix puppy who loves belly rubs and kisses! Kepler is a super cuddle bug who loves to play with all different kinds of dog toys, but tennis balls and squeaky toys are his absolute favorite. He will happily play by himself or with another dog. He also loves to play fetch with his humans, although he doesn’t always bring the ball back! Kepler is very food motivated and this makes training so easy - he will do just about anything for a tasty little treat. Although he can be a bit nervous walking on a leash, he absolutely loves running around in the yard. When it comes to house breaking, he goes in the yard about 50% of the time, and when he goes in the house he uses a pee pad. After a long day of playing, Kepler loves nothing more than snuggling up on the couch for some neck scratches. He sleeps peacefully on a dog bed in the bedroom. If you’re looking for a playful and faithful friend then come meet Kepler today!! Kyan is being fostered in Staten Island, NY and his adoption fee is $500. Story
Bear is affectionate, loyal, and deeply bonded — rescued at 10 weeks and loved for 6 years. He follows you room to room and thrives on connection. He has completed multiple weeks-long professional training programs and is excellent off-leash with strong recall. He thrived on 10 acres upstate NY, but moving back to NYC has been tough for space. He benefits from a lot of daily exercise and thrives in off leash dog parks. He'll bark to protect his territory and can be reactive to large dogs. He's also a sock stealer. Important: Bear has bitten adult men on more than one occasion. Despite extensive training, this remains unpredictable. He is and always has been wonderful with women and children, but requires an experienced owner who understands reactive dogs — not suitable for first-time owners. In the right hands, he is an exceptional companion. He's been my best friend through ups and down and deserves the most love. Looking for the right home, not just any home.
